Do you call it sex or "making love"?

My new boyfriend (3months) asks to make love to me rather than just saying sex. I think it's incredibly cute but neither of us have said the L word or anything yet. Do many guys say this?!

I personally don't like "make love" though I think OH may have used it once in the early days.... He was completely fairly inexperienced and I wonder if he just felt it was more polite and delicate than "sex".

We don't tend to actually use words now, I think more like "shall we?" with a suggestive eyebrow raise!

I wouldn't say it's that common but if you like it, that's lovely for you.

ladyinthelibrary · 12/04/2012 20:35

I'm still telling my new bf that I don't like the term "shagging"!!! Awkward territory isnt it, when you can be at it like rabbits, but the L word isnt in sight ....

AnyFucker · 12/04/2012 20:35

"fancy a shag ?" does it for me < common as muck >

poorbuthappy · 12/04/2012 20:36

moomoo1967 · 12/04/2012 20:38

lol at poorbuthappy I would say whatever suits the situation, DP and I use all sorts dependant on what the mood is Grin

Bumping uglies? Grin

hathorinareddress69 · 12/04/2012 20:38

I think it depends on the type of sex it is iyswim?

Making love is slow and romantic

Fuckking is a right good seeing to

And all points in between are a good shag.

AF - DP doesn't even say fancy a shag - He just gives me The Look Wink

BillyBollyBandy · 12/04/2012 20:38

Do you want to do the no pants dance?

If DH is feeling alluring "Hop on the happy wagon and lets go to pleasuretown"

first1 · 12/04/2012 20:39

Ha! But is "making love" the term a bit old fashioned for blokes? He's 31 I was expecting him to use phrases more like the examples on here!

Shakey1500 · 12/04/2012 20:40

I'm not keen on the phrase "making love" too slushy for Shakey Grin

Sex/shag/fuck

curiositykitten · 12/04/2012 20:45

I'd be totally turned off by someone who asked me to have sex with them, no matter how they worded it!

Winkly · 12/04/2012 20:45

Me: fancy doing it?
Him: No.
Hmm

puds11 · 12/04/2012 20:46

if DP said 'make love' it would turn me off completely.

storminabuttercup · 12/04/2012 20:53

Shagging works too.

I dont think I've ever said make love....

CalamityKate · 12/04/2012 20:53

Ugh. "Making Love" is cringey - it actually makes me feel vaguely nauseous.

Shagging or fucking here.

janelikesjam · 12/04/2012 20:54

I think the term is romantic, it IS kind of "making" "love" ...

5inthebed · 12/04/2012 20:55

I only ever say "making lurve" if I am taking the piss.

DressDownGoodFriday · 12/04/2012 20:57

Asking seems very polite in a new relationship - don't you just go with the flow iyswim.

No asking as such in this house. If both kids are out it's a mad dash upstairs. If we're already in bed then dh signal is taking his glasses off and giving me the look.

LapOfTheGods · 12/04/2012 20:58

I think it's polite in a new relationship, he's trying to be respectful. It's cute :)
