He can't be, can he? :(

Poking through DH bedside drawer for loose change. I found an unopened box of condoms. We don't use condoms, and certainly never those ribbed and dotted for pleasure :(

He works away Mon to Fri, and we havnt been asking much recently. I've put it down to life stress, we've both had colds. I just don't feel connected with him.

Tell me I'm worrying about nothing.

But then what reason would a man in a relationship have for buying condoms? :( :( :(

Hmmm....could it be something from ages ago at all? Did you look at the expiry date?

Definitely suspicious though keeping them in his bedside drawer makes me wonder if they were a leftover thing from ages ago.

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 19:50

Talking, not asking. Stupid auto correct.

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 19:52

Thing is, I regularly pinch his loose change Blush so I know they weren't there a couple of weeks ago.

Expiry date on them is 2015-10, does that make them old?

So you both ave never used condoms before ? If so, I would be very concerned especially if he has been working away. Men get up to all sorts when they are away for so long. I would also be careful about unprotected sex with him.

Mama1980 · 28/03/2012 19:53

The fact the box is unopened and in the bedside drawer could be that he just tucked them there and forgot? Expiration date? Some men like the different 'texture' so maybe he thought you could try something new? You found them in a perfectly innocent course of events, it wasn't like you were snooping so I would just ask him - how he reacts will tell you all you need to know I guess.

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 19:54

He's just so lovely, I'm hoping they are from when we did use them and they have just been moved to the drawer recently. I don't know what I would do if he cheated on me.

OP posts:
delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 19:59

Ok, I'm going to call and ask. But how can I without sounding like a mad bunny boiler? I've never even THOUGHT about him cheating on me before, but reading the posts on here makes me thnk it can happen to anyone.

God I feel sick.

Praying I'm over dramatising this.

OP posts:
MooncupandPizza · 28/03/2012 20:01

Hope the call clears it up. I'd just go direct and say "erm, why are there condoms in your bedside drawer?" without much pre-amble so if anything is dodgy, he doesn't have time to prepare a response.

Hope it'll be something reasonable.

Not sure what the expiry date on recently purchased ones woudl be...

I bought condoms recently (within the past couple of months or so) and the expiration date says 04/2015, so my gut feeling is that these are fairly new. Seems odd that a cheater would be so careless to leave evidence where it could be found easily, so hopefully there?s an innocent explanation.

motherinferior · 28/03/2012 20:07

Just ask him. The tendency on MN is to assume that any bloke will be shagging anything that moves, given half the chance. I frankly find it unlikely that he'd stash illicit condoms in a drawer you regularly rootle through.

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 20:07

Ok, jus asked him.

Bit of a mumble, if he didn't know they were there I would have assumed he would say 'what condoms' but he knew straight away what I meant.

He said they were from the last time we used them (ages ago)

But why move them to the drawer recently? And something about his tone of voice was off.

Didn't ask me what I was doing looking in his drawer either.

He's now chatting on fbook with me, doesn't bother normally.

On the plus side, I am no longer hungry for the takeaway I was going to order.

squeakytoy · 28/03/2012 20:09

I agree that it seems weird he would put them in such an obvious place unless there was a perfectly innocent reason for it.

MooncupandPizza · 28/03/2012 20:09

Oh Delilah - will you ask why he moved them to the drawer?

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 20:10

I feel sick. I really hope I'm being stupid.
What winegoggles said about the expiration date on her condoms has made me feel sick.

I'm sure he's not.

Just wish he was here - but he's away till Friday.

OP posts:
MooncupandPizza · 28/03/2012 20:10

Maybe he wanted to try them, for example and is a bit embarrassed

I remember buying lube and leaving it somewhere so that OH would find it as I was embarrassed about bringing the subject up

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2012 20:11

:(
Doesn't look good, could he be thinking about it?

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 28/03/2012 20:11

Without sounding too crude is it possible he's been using them himself , think the term is 'posh wank' :) where the guy uses them during masturbation to catch the mess . Just throwing it out there hope ur ok op

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 20:13

Fuck it.

I never thought his would be me. Ive always trusted him 100%. I'm not going to stop until I have proof, but I will keep my eyes open.

OP posts:
susiedaisy · 28/03/2012 20:13

Hi op really hoping it turns out to be nothing, but am a bit confused as to why they are in a perfectly normal place that anyone can get to??

hang on - don't jump to conclusions. They are ribbed and dotted- maybe they're his embarrassing fantasy.
Have you recently had a conversation about ttc? Changing contraception?
Has he given you ANY OTHER REASON to be suspicious?

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 20:16

We have always been open about sex. Can't see him doing the posh wank thing.

I'm going to trust him. Internet says condoms have 5 year expiry date, so these could be from the end of 2010 - which is about when we last used them.

We are buying a house together, planning a holiday, and if I hadn't found them it wouldn't have crossed my mind.

OP posts:
wishiwasonholiday · 28/03/2012 20:17

Hope he's telling the truth, as others suggested maybe he just wants to try them?

delilahbelle · 28/03/2012 20:20

No other reasons not to trust him, so I'm going to.

Time for a proper chat this weekend though I think.
