Hi all. Happy New Year to you all and here's hoping we have better luck in 2012... with the notable exception of Zany who really needs to report back and let us all know how The Zany Bunch are going!

I just got home from a pleasant evening with someone I'd met on a dating site almost a year ago. She gave the stock excuse of a major PC crash and change of mobile phone etc., but I figured it was the holiday season so let's pretend she hadn't been going back through old messages and thought to herself "I'm now extremely desperate so maybe I'll chase that Rob bloke up". We went to see a package deal which included the movie New Years Eve (which was ok) and came with a chicken and champers supper and the Sydney Harbour fireworks on the big screen. All quite passable and at least I got a pash at midnight!

Well, I've had a shower, shaved my bits, done my hair and nails, slathered on some wonderful smelling body lotion and I'm now in my PJ's preparing to have my M&S meal for one, and I'm happy!! I am so looking forward to 2012, not that 2011 has been at all bad, I just have a good feeling about 2012, even FB tarot says it's going to be MY year

I've got a couple of messages on POF but nothing worth wearing my keyboard out for, another married man, says if he wasn't already involved in a NSA relationship he would be asking me out but he isn't looking to change his status at the moment . Such a shame, eh?

Looking forward to hearing everyone's updates. Poppa you got lucky!! Snape I really do hope your Mr Platonic see's sense and dives on you. I watched 'One Day' this afternoon, lovely film and it made me think of you and your man. I would like a man like your man!

Time, I'm here. Helping DD get ready to go to a party, have a friend round for a short while but will be home alone for the rest of the evening. Will go for a drink tomorrow afternoon instead.

It's going to be a big year for us. DD turning 18 and possibly leaving home for uni.

I will not be logging onto POF tonight as I will look like a saddo. Any nice ones seem to disappear after a few days chatting.

I was sitting having tea with my best mates this afternoon reflecting on how far we have come this year and what a lovely year 2011 has been. The message seems to be that "Life is good and we don't need a man to complete us we are whole and happy as we are".
BUT if a Very Nice Man comes along and shares the journey then that is a good thing!

The VMN arrives for supper and a quiet night in soon, and we will look forward to sharing 2012 as much as we both wish to. It is still early days and we both have a lot of tangles to unravel but having someone funny and nice to share it with will help a lot.

Little That's a lovely message you quote and sums up how I feel perfectly. 2011 has been a lovely year for me, I have no complaints whatsoever but I am looking forward to 2012, it takes me one more step away from my past and towards a whole new and happy future and I like that.

Another NYE at home with my DS, we are having a pizza and watching crappy telly, the dog isnt well so she is really quiet.....bliss.

perfectly acceptable new years eve, if not exactly romantically intimate as my DD invited 5 teenagers to the house ( I said it was OK....) who drank all my vodka, most of my rum and half a bottle of bourbon. little tykes. Platonic man spent ages chasing my cat around the living room so he could get a pic of himself with her for his OKC profile, as apparently pictures with pets are a fanny magnet... I got drunk and went to bed early and DD and her friend walked him home as he was drunk!

must get around to replying to the couple of messages I've had. must move on. :)

Yeah. He knows. We almost fell out about it, took a lot of work to get us back here & I dont want to jeopardize the friendship again. Trouble is, i measure others against him & generally find them a bit lacking. It was difficult when he was seeing someone, I backed right off, she dumped him, in part because he kept going on about me...its a difficult situation. Ah, well.

Sounds tricky Snapes, but if his previous relationship ended partly because he talked a lot about you and she felt jealous then perhaps there's something there on his side too. Surely he would want to keep his distance if he felt genuinely uncomfortable with how you feel?
