In which my sociopathic ex gets a new girlfriend and I can't stop laughing

NeedABrew · 02/11/2011 15:15

I've posted about him before, sociopathic tendencies etc etc. He's got a new girlfriend, and thus I'm not in receipt of text messages, phone calls and such like.

Anyway, the girlfriend of a week, is a devout Christian. Nothing wrong with that. But now he has found God, is reading the Bible, and the man who used to wank obsessively over porn and with whom I had a very active and varied sex life with has announced he's given up sex. Part of me thinks good for him, hope it works out etc. The other cannot stop laughing about it. Feel free to judge me.

NAB, I thought of a come back for you after considering the recent "talk like Jane Austen day" (30 Oct)-
from Pride and Prejudice (1995 production):

"I dare say we will be able to bear the deprivation."

"...I will be..." could be used, but "we" might, perhaps, give it an extra zing.

SGB Thanks

WineAndPizza · 04/11/2011 15:26

SGB...what an unpleasant and intolerant attitude. It's interesting to see you think you are superior to the 'woman-haters' by being so full of hatred towards so many people yourself.

OP - he sounds like a total arse, you are well rid and totally entitled to a laugh!

SolidGoldVampireBat · 04/11/2011 16:59

WaP; Yeah yeah waa waa. whatever. The onus is on the superstitious to justify their demands for everyone to set a place at the table for their imaginary friend when there is no evidence of any such thing existing but loads of evidence of people using their imaginary friends as justification for mistreating others.

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 04/11/2011 17:07

You're so mature and articulate SGVB. I wish I was like you.

Hissy · 04/11/2011 18:52

Ladies, ladies, ladies...

This guy is no more religious than the desk I am sat at. He is merely adopting this persona to reel in another victim.

If she were a Buddist, he'd be wearing orange, shaving his head and burning incense.

Who cares in the veracity or otherwise of a societal institution.

If I were to say anything to that twat, it'd be along the lines of

'You've found God? Well done, at least now you'll know you are going to burn in hell, and why. Here's a fiver, I'll buy a can of petrol and a box of matches to get you started'

SolidGoldVampireBat · 04/11/2011 21:31

Hissy: Actually, abusive bellends love finding gods. All of a sudden there's this imaginary friend telling them that it's fine to mistreat women, because women are less than human and Imaginary Friend made them that way.
I'm entirely supportive of stupid people's right to believe in gods; whether I consider that belief a harmless little quirk along the lines of preferring one football team over another, or whether it means the person is someone I no longer want to be friends with, depends on what the person does with his/her superstition.

I thought of this thread today (severe mn/rl crossover) my Mum is being bullied by a woman at work. This woman claims to be a Christian. She spends a great deal of her time verbally abusing her colleagues and showing little respect for their people's work. When challenged about her behaviour she laughed and said "My God will forgive me".

I am still Shock at the sheer arrogance of the woman. She behaves appallingly yet truly believes that she is superior because she has "faith"

izzywhizzysgunpowderplot · 04/11/2011 22:33

Bullies like that woman are not uncommon AlouiseeSad

They cannot see any hypocrisy in professing to be of the Christian faith while demonstrating precious little charity and making their fellows feel as if there no hope Hmm

Her God may forgive her - but mine won't and nor, I suspect, will your Mum's and her colleagues' Grin

izzywhizzysgunpowderplot · 05/11/2011 06:08

Correction: 'feel as if there is no hope' - and women like her hardly inspire the rest of us to believe in a Christian God who condones a blatant disregard for 'His' proscribed tenets as handed down to Jews since the Book of Genesis and Moses' tablets of stone and subsequently revamped some 2000+ years ago by His Only Begotten Son who created a religion that was bastardised by men.

When man creates a 'God' who recognises the role of women in underpinning ''His' religion and keeping blind faith in 'Him' alive, I might start believing in Her.

Until then, as AF so aptly puts it, "Christ on a bike" - with a sidecar that has room for his dad, mum, 12 disciples & their kids, and the Wholly Ghost Grin

Alouisee · 05/11/2011 07:19

You're on good form this morning Izzy :o

mamayaya · 05/11/2011 08:17

I would laugh too!

NeedABrew · 08/11/2011 16:24

Thank you again. I'm going to sidestep the religion debate, each to their own, though obviously it's quite intriguing that he's getting into it (though I hear the mask is slipping...quelle surprise).

I like the retorts; I'll save them should the need arise.

New man is lovely, though is a bit hard work with them being mates and me being excessively insecure - hmm, attractive! But that's a whole other thread...

Abstinence does not make the heart grow fonder.

He may be 'getting into it' but it'll only be for as long as his newfound devout girlfriend holds out if her belief precludes sex before marriage.

As he's the type that you wouldn't want to wish on anyone, let's hope she doesn't hold out until after the wedding because she'll find it much easier for her god to forgive her for giving into carnal desire than to discover she's married to a sociopath.

susiedaisy · 08/11/2011 19:44

NAB i think i know where your coming from in your op, its not the bible bit, its the fact that hes pretending to be someone he isnt to get his claws into impress a new women and you know this is total and utter bullshit and wont last long at all, i feel similar to you, my exh has miraculously turned over a new leaf to impress his new women, and its total crap and it wont last past the honeymoon stage b4 hes back to his old nasty sly greedy selfish self! and i know it but the other women and her family dont and tbh i feel rather sorry for her, but at the same time i dont cause hes off my back and concentrating on someone else!
