Lesbian quarrel

Wonder what you think of this. I am in her kitchen, cooking dinner for us. I need tarragon, which we are both sure will be in her massive herb rack (of which she is very proud). It isn't. I say "You could go and get some from the Coop" (not more than 5 mins away on foot, 2 in the car). She says "Oh I'm not going just for that, can't you use something else?" I am stumped, both at the refusal, and at what to substitute (tarragon and burned-off alcohol give the dish its distinctive sharp taste). Anyway, I use thyme and basil and it turns out ok - but not as good as with tarragon.

After the meal, we have a blazing row - about something completely different, and it turns out to be the end of the affair (my decision). Now I'm wondering if my 'stumpedness' at her refusal affected the development of the row... BTW I don't regret the end of the relationship.

It's very good with chicken, I'm told, but I've never had chervil so can't tell for sure. My mum told me, so it's probably true.

It may be different if you're a chicken yourself of course, but I think both homo- and hetero-sexual people will probably enjoy it.

BadTasteFlump · 20/07/2011 22:30

Don't get it. What has being a lesbian got to do with being so clueless about cooking you are happy to use dried herbs? Confused

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 20/07/2011 22:36

Lesbians use dried herbs.

That's why I only ever shag men.

perpetualsucker · 20/07/2011 22:53

Dried tarragon is not too dissimilar to the fresh herb. Dried basil is yuk. On balance I think you should not have replaced the herb. What was the meal on which this malfunction of muff munchery hung on anyway? If you were to tell us, we might be able to judge which herb it needed. if it was some poisonous nut roast or other tasteless business, the herbs may not have improved it anyway.

perpetualsucker · 20/07/2011 22:58

There is apparently an ANGRY LESBIAN Tarragon-Infused Organic Vodka according to this:

garlicbutter · 20/07/2011 23:29

What on earth did you search on, perpetual??!

I might have fancied one of those (the cocktail) but it sounds ineffably pretentious.

Oh, wait, they've pitched it just right, haven't they ...
Your chicken was organic, wasn't it, OP?

Recipe for pan-braised squirrel with parsley or chervil.

I just think any kind of cooked squirrel is going to end up tasting like a nut roast anyway.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 21/07/2011 05:13

Did Gay ever come back and tell us about being propositioned by a lesbian squirrel? I wanted to read that even if it was complete fiction.

desertboot · 21/07/2011 11:13

sounds like it was thyme

I opened this because I couldn't think of a specifically lesbian quarrel. I am disappointed, OP. I wanted to be educated.

RubyPink · 21/07/2011 11:40

I am particularly interested in her 'massive herb rack'
dried or not that sounds tempting!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 21/07/2011 12:21

You should have subsituted with dill.

BadTasteFlump · 21/07/2011 18:10

Aha - the penny just dropped - are you being rude HowTo?

LynetteScavo · 21/07/2011 18:19

I had some (dried) tarragon today for the first time in ages, and was reminded how vile it is.

Do lesbians have different taste buds to heterosexuals? Confused

BadTasteFlump · 21/07/2011 20:49

I would have to have no taste buds at all in their position, personally....

hester · 22/07/2011 11:18

Thanks for that charming contribution, BTF Hmm

EldritchCleavage · 22/07/2011 12:30

BTF, you are well named!

loopylou6 · 22/07/2011 13:14

You deffo need a different type of herb to chill you out if you're arguing over dried herbs, I'd also hazard a guess that you wouldn't be bothered what the chicken was cooked in, you'd just want to eat it.

Oh and its also ok for lesbians.
