Hi I am venus and I am an alcoholic.

Thanks to the first thread by Jesuswhatnow I have not had a drink for a long time.

There are lots of us on here, please lurk, post, whatever does it for you. If you are worried about how much you drink and your inability to stop when you want to, then someone on here can probably understand.

Erm, I just need to pack a bag venus. Say about ten minutes then call them back? Grin

noteven - have you called AA again since you said earlier? Have they helped at all?

venusandmars · 21/11/2010 15:00

just seen your post noteven

Just keep posting on here about how things are going, tell us what you and dd are up to. tell us what you have in the house that you can eat? Tell us every time you make a cup of tea or have a drink of juice. Just keep on going and getting through it.

Silver66 · 21/11/2010 15:04

venus I need at least 15 minutes to pack - hold off from calling them........

Grin
notevenamousie · 21/11/2010 15:05

You're so kind that you are willing to listen to that kind of drivel.
DD is doing a puzzle book. I feel really sick. I am going to have some more water. I feel so hopeless and frightened.

venusandmars · 21/11/2010 15:15

noteven I understand that you feel frightened. Can you tell us what you feel frightened about? Is it just a feeling inside you, or are you frightened that you will have a drink?

But you are definitely not hopeless. At this moment there is lots that you can hope for, and many reasons to believe that it will happen. You are going through the toughest time, and yet here you are, still talking to us, and your lovely dd is enjoying doing a puzzle book. That is a lot to hope for and to hold on to. You ARE doing well.

venusandmars · 21/11/2010 15:19

And you CAN phone the samaritans noteven. Do you still have their number from last night? They are there to listen to you if you do feel desperate.

Do you have any RL friends that you could call? tell them you have flu and need to rest for a couple of hours. Or ask someone to buy some food - a can of soup perhaps? and a couple of pots of yogurt? What is dd's favourite soup?

OP posts:
Mouseface · 21/11/2010 15:21

noteven

I can promise you that every single person on this thread has at one time or another, felt exactly the same as you do right now.

Maybe without the added flu but we have ALL been scared, confused, felt worthless, hopeless and beyond terrified of what was happening in our lives.

What on earth we were going to do to get to the end of the day without drinking.

When I stopped drinking, I was ready to. I was ready to take control back. I was ready to be me again.

If you go back to earlier threads, you'll see that wasn't always the case.

Someone very kindly worked out a rough estimation of my weekly unit consumption.

I was nearly sick when I read it. It scared me to death. I had no idea just how many units I was having in a week.

All I knew was that the recycling boxes were ALWAYS full.

Keep posting. Keep talking to us and tell us what you are up to. It's not boring to us because we know that if you are posting, you are ok.

Do you want to talk about what has happened with DP?

Or moving house?

Or anything else?

dementedma · 21/11/2010 15:22

"use him as a draught excluder" Grin
At least he'd have some use then right enough...made me chuckle. but...but...won't he decompose after a bit?

on another note, this trip to northumberland has got me searching cottages to let for next summer in that area. anyone got any advice? seen some lovely ones online but props too expensive.

venusandmars · 21/11/2010 15:28

demented - it's cold weather, it'll take a while for him to smell. Although maybe you should eviscerate him first, just to be on the safe side Grin.

I stayed in a lovely campsite at Warren Mill (near Buddle Bay, Northumbria). First time was not long after xh and I had split, and I went there for my birthday. My dds were little and asleep in the tent and I sat in the car listening to a comedy tape with a bottle of wine for company. Was not the best birthday ever Hmm

Mouseface · 21/11/2010 15:28

Ma - as long as it make you chuckle my lovely. Smile

Re the decomp, just chuck him out once he starts to wiff! Grin

No advice re Northumberland but it is beautiful. I have a friend who used to live near Anick.

dementedma · 21/11/2010 15:32

eviscerate him? now there's an idea that appeals to me big time! Does he have to be dead first?

anyone got any rubber gloves?
i know what bit I'll be chopping off first....

Silver66 · 21/11/2010 15:39

ma you are a very funny woman Grin

venusandmars · 21/11/2010 15:40

OP posts:
BBwannaB · 21/11/2010 15:48

shame we can't have the nice ccccchianti to go with it Grin

Mouseface · 21/11/2010 15:51
Grin

I love pate. Ordered some low fat stuff in the weekly shop this week. I should make my own.

ZanyWany · 21/11/2010 15:55

Just saying a quick Hi to everyone, "taking the dog out" being dragged around by the dog then I'll be back on here but wanted to say stay strong to Noteven you have done really well to admit having a problem with drink, you did so well going to AA, next time will be so much easier I'm sure.

YOu could always bury him under the pario Ma when the smell gets too bad.

I like the idea of hoovering all the crumbe from the bus Silver

Hoping my neightbour who I was talking about on friday is popping round later. :)

venusandmars · 21/11/2010 16:01

mouse you can buy frozen chicken livers for about 50p from a supermarket. Fry some onion in butter, add the livers and some stock (and mushrooms / cream / anything else you have lying around). blend. Eat.

tastes great (and full of vit B) much less fat than bought pate.

zany keep us updated, we're very nosy interested Grin

OP posts:
Mouseface · 21/11/2010 16:07

Zany - yes, regular updates are required please!

venus - I very rarely get the chance to have a go at making homemade anything if Nemo is up!

However, I don't use sauce jars and make everything like that from scratch, sweet and sour, pasta sauces, curry etc. DH is great at bread and we have homemade pizza too.

Silver66 · 21/11/2010 16:08

Zany - spill or Ma will sort you out - and i don't mean in a good way Grin xx

Silver66 · 21/11/2010 16:09

Mouse - what do you want - a medal tee hee x

Mouseface · 21/11/2010 16:11

Silver - yes please! Grin

Silver66 · 21/11/2010 16:17

passes Mouse a very crappy plastic medal.

Noteven where have you gone lovely?? You seemed so desperate earlier - can we help?? Smile x

jesuswhatnext · 21/11/2010 16:54

ma!, you could always have him stuffed and use him as a coat hook - mind you, it does depend on 'ahem' size as to wheather he will hold up a baseball cap or a bearskin! Wink

i have finished my shed and im now making some xmas bunting! (oh get me!! how very kirstie! Grin)

tonight im opening some non alkie fizz - i feel like a treat and its quite nice, i put a bit of cordial in and its almost a kir royale! yum yum!

jesuswhatnext · 21/11/2010 16:56

btw - use venus pate recipie, then line a loaf tin with bacon, pour pate into it and bake for about 45 mins - really tasty!

Mouseface · 21/11/2010 16:57

JWN - you can get npn-alcoholic mulled wine at M&S. It's really nice. I drank it in the winter I was expecting Nemo.
