So over the past couple of weeks I have been itching all over. I feel as though insects are crawling over me.
I also notice h has shaved all the hair on his body. How wierd I thought. He has been hiding himself from me, but I 'caught' him when he had just had a shower. First I thought he was having some sort of affair, since I have never made any noises about body hair on him because it isn't that much.
Well I gets to thinking......so I asked him why he did it. He said because he feels more sweaty and wanted to feel better. I said nothing, but I remember him doing this around a year ago.
So it turns out the itchiness, the insects crawling on me were body-lice. I shower everyday, sometimes twice a day, wear clean clothes every day......I felt disgusting. I then started to tumble dry everything and now I have felt free of the itching finally.
Why did h not mention to me that he was worried about it and he shaved his bodt hair because of lice?
How can you catch body lice? is it through sexual contact, I also had itching below but that has cleared up now too....
Has he had sex with some dirty cow?

I don't think body lice are sexually transmitted. I think you can catch them either from contact with a person, or with bedding/towels etc. that are infected. So if your DH has been in a hotel, visiting a friend, going to the gym etc.

Hope you get to the bottom of this soon.

smellthebullshit · 16/10/2010 02:32

He hasn't been to a hotel as far as I know,or used bedding/towels other than at home, as far as I know.
So he must have caught it elsewhere and then not told me about it at all.
Angry
He obviously didn't tell me because he has something to hide.

Hmm..

Mumcentreplus · 16/10/2010 02:36

You can catch body lice if you come in direct contact with someone who has lice, or with infected clothing, towels, or bedding.

Body lice are bigger than other types of lice

You are more likely to get body lice if you have poor hygiene or live in close (overcrowded) conditions. Infestation is unlikely to last on anyone who bathes regularly, and who has at least weekly access to freshly laundered clothing and bedding.

If the lice fall off of a person, they die within about 5 - 7 days at room temperature.

Yes I did google, but nothing constructive to answer my questions. Lots of pics of lice, catching them and treating them. That is how I know how to get rid of them.........
but thanks for the errrr thought.....Hmm

If you have both been itchy, are you 100% sure that it was your DH and not you who caught the blighters first?

Mumcentreplus · 16/10/2010 02:38

symptoms:

?Intense itching
?Red bumps on the skin
?Areas around the waist or groin may become thickened or discolored when lice have been present for a long time

smellthebullshit · 16/10/2010 02:38

You see I googled all that......but my marriage is shit, and h is being supiciously shifty about it all...and I have an over-active imagination

OP posts:
Mumcentreplus · 16/10/2010 02:39

well if you have done none of the above...its on him..and tbh why the heck did he shave his body hair...??

smellthebullshit · 16/10/2010 02:40

Disgusting isn't it?
I started itching after he started the frantic shaving
And I shower sometimes twice a day, so how could I have got it? I have not stayed in hotels, or slept anywhere else etc.

OP posts:
Mumcentreplus · 16/10/2010 02:40

You have a right to feel shifty as hell..

smellthebullshit · 16/10/2010 02:40

Yep, the shaving his body hair was the weirdest thing..

Don't know what I would say to him, he makes it impossible for me to challenge him on anything.
