Just received a massive bunch of red roses, sent to my work in front of the entire staff! Blush

Have been seeing new blokey only since Saturday, he has visited me most nights since then, but we have yet to make it physcial (his decison to not rush it, not mine!)

Exciting stuff! (but im sure i will mess it up, as usual- hence my username!)

What a lovely surprise! Enjoy.

Anniegetyourgun · 24/09/2010 11:35

You're worth it, you know, and if it doesn't work out it may well not be your fault at all. Enjoy the ride for now, time will tell etc.

allgonebellyup · 24/09/2010 11:38

gee, thanks Annie. Hmm

He sent the flowers cos i was feelin slightly unwell. Flame me.

Anniegetyourgun · 24/09/2010 12:09

Lord no, I don't want to flame you! I'm just... oh, ignore me. I hope you feel better soon.

RubyPink · 24/09/2010 12:34

oh for gawdsakes you lot, isn't anything ever right for you? He sounds like a lovely bloke doing all the right things and you still find something to complain about! I wish you all the best with it bellyup

Theantsgomarching · 24/09/2010 12:37

Why on earth would you add a link like that to a post like this FFS!!!!!!!! Maddness.

OP please ignore and enjoy your flowers.

Absolutely FUCKING ridiculous that a bunch of flowers is now a warning for domestic abuse. Get a bloosy grip.

...and breathe

Aminata100 · 24/09/2010 12:47

I'm with Annie and pinemartina on this too, not saying he is going to be abusive but better to get wise beforehand than regretting it 10 years down the line!

I mean, really, been seeing him only since Saturday? This week??
And sending you a big bunch of red roses in front of all your staff??

Hmmmm Hmm

allgonebellyup · 24/09/2010 12:48

Thanks Ruby and Theants - reminds me why i wil never post nice things that have happened on here!!!!!

Poor bloke was just trying to be nice ffs.

OP posts:
pinemartina · 24/09/2010 12:49

It is not a warning that he may be an abuser.

I am speaking from my own experience of having recently ended a relationship which I thought for a long time was "the one".
It started in a very romantic, beautiful way..quite unlike any previous relationship.

I was swept off my feet.

In my case,my now xp was a very controlling man,who did become emotionally and verbally abusive. It took me a long time to realise as he also continued to be "very romantic".

Of course not all romantic gestures are an indicator of future difficulties!!!

But,if you scroll down to the Quick Involvement paragraph on the link, you will see that this can be a red flag.

The OP only met this man on Saturday and say she has seen him "most nights" since.

I am so glad that some of you have never had such experiences and hope you never do.

allgone - all the best to you,I do not mean to spoil it for you.

RubyPink · 24/09/2010 12:49

Can you not see a nice, romantic and exciting gesture for what it is without immediately thinking it means something sinister? jeez you lot are twisted

allgonebellyup · 24/09/2010 12:49

He didnt know it would be in front of all the staff - i am barely ever at home these days- i work very long hours, and he just wanted me to get the flowers ffs!
So not point sending to my house!

OP posts:
allgonebellyup · 24/09/2010 12:51

Who said i am after anything long term and romantic anyway! i like my flings!
Jeeez, why does everyone get so serious about everything????????

OP posts:
CatPower · 24/09/2010 12:51

...I can't believe the responses. What ever happened to plain ol' romance? Not every man is a woman-beating rapist, you know. Linking the poor OP to "red flag" threads and such is such an overreaction to a nice gesture.

OP - hope your headache clears soon, and enjoy the flowers! Wish my OH would spring a surprise on me like that. (He was very romantic in the initial days of our relationship but after six years the hearts and flowers have dried up a bit ;) )

loopylou6 · 24/09/2010 13:13

Blimey would of hated to see what you lot would say if he sent chocolates with flowers shock horror maybe that would of meant that he runs over old ladies in his spare time from being abusive hmm. OP what a lovely sunrise for you :)

PennyDreadful · 24/09/2010 13:20

Only on Mumsnet....

allgonebellyup · 24/09/2010 13:28

i feel quite deflated now..think i will leave this site for a while until i can find the strength to take the abuse again!!

OP posts:
loopylou6 · 24/09/2010 13:32

Aw don't flounce bellyup, they're only jealous and I wouldn't exactly call it abuse

RubyPink · 24/09/2010 13:45

Don't go belly... they are jealous!

mumblechum · 24/09/2010 13:47

Don't go AllGone.

It's a lovely gesture, take no notice of certain posters who seem to think everyone is an emotional abuser. ffs.

Enjoy your lovely flowers, and hope you get well soon.

mumblechum · 24/09/2010 13:49

Arf. Have just v quickly scanned the Red Flags. Apparently, because my dh is concerned if I'm home late, and he did (and still does), lots of romantic gestures, he's a controlling abuser.

Well, better write off the last 20 very happy years then Hmm
