I dislike the sport & traffic on 5, but I loathe the presenter bullying & "no time to explain anything so just say soundbites" atmosfr on 4.
I switch between them all day long, when dd isnt tantrumming for Planet Rock, anyway.

....I like the sense of tradition and longevity on the Home Service. I am particularly fond of Just a Minute and the Archers, primarily because they have not altered throughout my lifetime.

This is strangely comforting.

...the embarrassing truth is that my wireless spends more time tuned to Radio 5 (BBC Radio Bloke) except during Wimbledon or f**king golf.

...I am listening to Kermode's film reviews on podcast as I type. It is splendid, though the chance that I may get to see any films other than kids one is slim in the extreme....

I was reading through this thread because it's a subject close to my heart, and found a post I agreed with completely. I was about to post my support, when I realized that it was an old thread, - and the post I agreed with was one of mine!

We wake up to Nicky and Shelagh on weekdays. And I tend to listen to 5 while commuting - so that is either breakfast or drive. Did enjoy Jane Garvey also.

Love Radio 4, but find news better on the World Service, and like BBC 7 for comedy.

I do hate Go For It - BUT - will forgive Barney a lot for his brilliant handling of the programme on bereaved children with Michael Rosen. I heard it on Pick of The Week in the car, just as I arrived home, and just sat there and wept.

Oh and I love FOOC,it is fascinating!!

FOOC for me is in that bizarre twilight zone of programmes that OUGHT to be fascinating, but which actually bore me stiff. The Material World, CountryFile and The Food Programme are other examples of the genre.
