Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you would love to attend Pip's wedding with Natasha and the starry twins, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-12-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Starting the new thread a bit early as I'm not sure I'll have much internet access for the next few days. Fill up the old one first. And then - over to you!

(Credit for the thread title goes to @TripleSulko.)

He left (silently) for Patagonia on 23rd March this year, according to the BBC synopses. At the moment the triplets would have to be premature,,,,

he would need triplets though to trump the twins
maybe that's why he can't return, his wife is pg with triplets and can't fly
(imagine being the doctor on the plane that had to deliver triplets on a plane}

And why has no one invited Jonny… or mentioned him turning up or not… appreciate he’s a bit distant as a second cousin (?) but far more random people seem to be going….

Raera · 14/10/2026 00:12

Vince needs to keep his nose out of lower loxley inheritance affairs

TripleSulko · 14/10/2026 01:25

Anna as a character seems to have been non-stop moaning, complaining and asking repeatedly for non-reciprocal favours for her and her obstreperous mother since she was re-introduced as a character. I think I’d probably have told her where to stick it if I were Alan or Usha.

EBearhug · 14/10/2026 01:56

I think Vince doesn't want Freddie to I herit for a good few years, because it means he'd have to leave the abattoir.

I think Henry and Khalil telling Keira there's no chance they'd be talking about a wedding for a week means something will happen at the wedding that means they will indeed be talking about the wedding for a week or more.

The SWs have forgotten about him I think.

AgentKim · 14/10/2026 06:25

Elizabeth doesn't want Freddy to take over and knock her off the top spot, so she would whole heartedly listern to Vince though its none of his business. She will tell the board that Freddy isn't ready yet. Saying that, Freddie sounded like a spoilt child going on about the unicorn that it seems everyone knows about except us dear listeners.
Who cares if Rosie will be upset she'll get over it.
Wish the SW would wait until all the kids are in their 20s before they give them speaking parts. There are lots of actors on TA to make good story lines with out listerning to many kids, its not interesting at all.
Back to Freddy and LL. It would be funny if the board decide to put Freddy in charge anyway and the first thing he does is sack Fallon. I would laugh my socks off.

Predictions 🔮

  • Josh turns up after all
  • Jill passes away, having seen the next generation of Brookfield annointed, and is discovered by Ruth.
  • Jolene confronts Lily and Harrison and there is a scene

And now we have a storm to factor in.

What ‘surprise’ can Freddie cone up with, and will it cost him his early inheritance?

And what mayhem is Kiera going to create?

BeatriceBatchelor · 14/10/2026 07:37

Freddie: "hey what if Lily marries Harrison ... we definitely couldn't get Fallon to do the catering." 😂

DeanElderberry · 14/10/2026 07:39

I'm now hoping that Josh's precipitate departure to Patagonia wasn't to see the penguins but because the lovely woman he met in a Birmingham club six months earlier had told him that she was six months pregnant, and that he is now married to her. And that when Jill snuffs it and her will is read it reveals that she still owned a lot more of Brookfield that anyone has admitted and she left it all to whichever grandchild marries first, which will be Josh.

The triplets will be a useful addition, three more Archers.

DeanElderberry · 14/10/2026 07:54

I am another person who had almost forgotten Hannah, but she should be brought into more stories, preferably ones involving Anna. It won't be as good as the Bess Beth Ben household we were robbed of, but Anna and Hannah has scope for amusing the deaf.

LillianGish · 14/10/2026 08:05

What sort of person wants to arrive on a unicorn at their wedding, but doesn't want to invite children?

Darker · 14/10/2026 08:11

I’m baffled about the unicorn.

Who’s idea was it and who is being surprised?

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/10/2026 08:14

I think it was Rosie's idea.

JoelenesParrot · 14/10/2026 09:06

Can I just say that I don’t think of unicorns as classy which is the word Pip used when she was describing how she wanted the wedding to be. Anything to do with unicorns is generally ill-conceived.

I think Freddie should probably be seeking independent legal advice on how to challenge the trustees. It couldn’t be seen as him going to war on his mother as she is not one and is meant to have his best interest at heart. The trustees are just getting in the way of what is actually a family matter. Unfortunately, he will need to go outside of Ambridge as I am not sure Usha does trust law. It is in both Lizard and Mince’s interests to keep Freddie as Peter Pan so he certainly won’t be able to count on their backing but with a decent lawyer I think he could force the trustees to come up with some sort of realistic timeline.

Khalil, Henry and Keira are a v dreary threesome. I did clock I was expected to wonder why Khalil suddenly went off the idea of having sweets last night but I’m afraid my attention moved on pretty quickly…

Darker · 14/10/2026 09:37

The idea of putting a unicorn to pull a carriage is practically sacrilegious. They are magical creatures.

Khalil was reminded of his leukaemia, I think.

Whatever is going on with Kiera, I wish it would stop. She seems to be bunking off school and to have an infatuation with Khalil. Can someone please send her to a dance school in Patagonia?

Sidebeforeself · 14/10/2026 10:12

@JoelenesParrot But Usha does ALL the law , all of it! So does Anna. Why the world needs more lawyers is beyond me.

This whole wedding sounds completely hideous and tacky. How old are they, five?

And potentially Vince might have to move out of lower loxley?! Am I too cynical?

Abra1t · 14/10/2026 10:29

Has anyone seen the Red Wedding episode in Game of Thrones?

TottersBlankly · 14/10/2026 10:59

Don’t …

I like the teenagers. Kate, Alice, Will, Ed, etc were great as children. I think Kate had Phoebe in her teens. The characters have grown in our earshot. Pip was ghastly but in a completely different way to the current Pip.
Elizabeth was ghastly too, as was Lily.
Love Brad and Chels.

I am not sure Usha does trust law Trust me, she does. Anna does all types of barwork. She'll be pulling pints at the Bull if Joie is busy.

Oh please, oh please, oh please .... I will be very good for the rest of my life if we get a radio equivalent to this.

I suppose we shouldn't be surprised there is a storm forecast for Sunday for the Ambridge area and nowhere else in the UK. The Ambridge area was the only part of Southern England that didn't have extremely hot dry weather for months over the summer, causing farmers serious problems, after all.

Honestly!

If I hear one more bleat from Pip about this blasted wedding, I might think twice about listening to it.
