Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to administer Bert's mucus medicine, or other unusual views.

There's a fair amount of stuff going on at the moment but I don't feel inspired to say anything more about any of it for now. Over to you - I hope you all have more enthusiasm than I do!

Perhaps I am being overly optimistic, but I am taking Esmee’s “she’s not here today” to mean that she is being shuffled into the “mostly silent” category of characters.

@EBearhug this is a really good point. I didn’t understand why he was on a tractor for milking (was it explained?) but yes when he got the job with Esme he had to say he couldn’t drive…

Does a driving ban apply on private land as well as on the roads?

He didn't nearly drop a branch on Ed; he deliberately smacked him in the face while helping with the tree-surgery, and Ed lied to Emma and said the damage to his face was done by a falling branch. I think that was after he'd pushed Ed downstairs so Ed had a damaged wrist.

It doesn't if you are Elizabeth Pargetter, though hers wasn't exactly a ban, it was not being allowed to drive for six months after the operation on her heart. She was cheerfully driving around Lower Loxley Hall grounds a couple of months after the op.

Well that was an episode full of unconvincing dialogue.

As much as it's fiction, I've always liked the uncomplicated and unstinting affection between Brad and George. Hate to see it sacrificed for a stupid SL.

On a previous thread I had a post that had a few paragraphs and the first was directed at one poster while the subsequent ones weren't, but that poster thought they were and queried why I had directed them at her.

Uncomplicated and unstinting? George dropped Brad in the soup, letting him take the blame about things (i.e. the bench) that were unequivocally George's fault, and Brand often seems to be going along with the whole thing out of some sense of family obligation...

Otherwise if nothing else u17s wouldn't be able to drive farm tractors and the like helping out parents.

Probably the farm's insurance. You can drive a tractor on a farm if over 13.

Amber really should have mentioned her brief encounter with Brad earlier. These things always eventually float to the surface- has she learnt nothing from EastEnders? George won’t believe it was just a snog so we will have all the drama of him questioning whether he is the Dad (and wondering if history is repeating itself), even though we know for certain that he is- and it isn’t…

The Pirate and Kenton are insufferable. I think they would have written off the £95 rather than gone to the therapy session themselves. Now we have to cope with her resurrecting her singing ambitions. Many talented performers lose their voices as they age, she really can’t think now is the time to relaunch her career on the pub circuit.

I think it was good for jolene and Kenton to be reminded that they had their adventures when they were young and shouldn’t be trying to hand the Bull to Fallon because of what it represents to them.

And I hope Fallon and Harrison both move on to a more satisfying life… Harrison seems to have thrived in his temporary posting.

Because it would still hurt when his knuckle was dragging on the ground.
