Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to be Brian's child or stepchild, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Over to you!

oh Fallon! Luv! LUV! Pass me the brain bleach.

Darker · 13/07/2026 23:16

Harrison is bothered by Amber’s pregnancy.

Is he still grieving baby burns? Wondering how come George comes out of all this with a baby, while he lost his one chance?

JanFebAndOnwards · 13/07/2026 23:57

Ian was unhappy bc he can see Adam and his siblings thinking Brian’s softened, and Ian knows he hasn’t at all.

MarmaladeorJam · 14/07/2026 02:59

I found it hard to believe that Adam would be so pleased with that paltry amount of money. And to immediately think of spending it when his future does not hold an inheritance seemed a little odd too I thought.

Did anyone find Kirsty a little hard on Rex?

Brefugee · 14/07/2026 05:42

Rex is overstepping. Not "men can't ever get it right because women are flakey" but because he is taking Kirsty's decision making away without asking.

Not happy 'having 'arrison back. Not at all.

Yy to Jolene being extra pitatey. It's been lovely not hearing her lately.

Oh just realised. Now we have 2 men being stupid about women being pregnant. Must we ALWAYS have "compare and contrast"?

JoelenesParrot · 14/07/2026 06:19

Forgot to say, Ian has really overstepped by meddling in the Aldridge’s business matters. Fine he is worried about Adam and has had to live with the fall-out of their dysfunctional relationship for years but speaking to Brian about what is ‘fair’ for the partners and then blackmailing him, which is essentially what he has done, is a bridge too far. I would be furious with Ian for meddling if I were Adam or any of the girls.

Sidebeforeself · 14/07/2026 06:42

JoelenesParrot · 13/07/2026 22:28

I’m surprised Harrison has returned- I was utterly convinced he would be killed on the road driving down to Ambridge.

Reunions rarely live up to expectations so I thought Fallon’s undisguised irritation/disappointment with H later in the day was very perceptive. She’ll be wishing the relationship was still long-distance by the weekend.

I thought the actor seemed a bit out of practice btw. He was hamming up his broad country bumpkin accent even more than usual.

Do you mean Harrison? Hes from Lancashire!

BeatriceBatchelor · 14/07/2026 07:28

I don't think Rex was being stupid. He cares about Kirsty and this was his way of trying to support her in what is a somewhat risky pregnancy. He was being kind and considerate.

I like men. Not all of them, of course, but I've never believed that they're all bastards.

Yes - I thought Rex was being considerate too.

And I thought Kirsty was fine to reprimand him, but gosh she was harsh with the addition of "...and patronising."

Edited

Presumably, especially because he blames George for the loss of a baby.

I just want Fallon to sit him down and point out that the pregnancy was never going to continue anyway, due to her coil - and that even if it had, she would have terminated it.

Mumblechum0 · 14/07/2026 10:27

I think she did tell Harrison that she almost certainly would have terminated it, which sent him into a massive tailspin iirc

BeatriceBatchelor · 14/07/2026 11:32

Fallon really should let Harrison go. This won't resolve itself. Harrison wants a behbeh. Poor bloke.

It is patronising. There are way better ways to have handled the thing with the hay bales. Eg "oi Kirsty, do you want a hand with the hay bales?" And not just stepping in.

I was nearly 10 years younger with my last pregnancy? But it would have annoyed me. Greatly⁹

Edited for typo

Agree. I think he loves Fallon but he wants a baby and sooner or later he will acknowledge that he wants a baby more than he wants a life Fallon without children.

Nos4r2 · 14/07/2026 13:43

Fallon always sounds on edge around Harrison.
Kirsty did it again making noises and it was just the quickening but I keep thinking she is going to lose this baby.
I wish she would stop.

Every1ElseInKnowsley · 14/07/2026 14:27

"Harrison wants a behbeh. Poor bloke."
Poor Fallon, poor us.

MarmaladeorJam · 14/07/2026 14:39

Fair enough @Brefugee

I do think though that in view of Kirsty's past difficulties with pregnancy loss, her attitude to herself would be a little more like Rex's attitude.

The "I am pregnant not sick" is a little too confident I think.

What a dick Tom is!

The only good thing about Tom is that he is so utterly awful that Natasha's eye-rolling (which you can almost hear) and her ability to ignore all his Master Plans make her quite a sympathetic character these days. She seems to get on much better with Pat'n'Tony and I assume she's just waiting for Tom to inherit something (even if not a lot), so that she can divorce him.

Darker · 14/07/2026 20:27

I'm thinking, Tom goes to Harrison’s homecoming drinks, gets tipsy and spills about the baby to Harrison, who implodes.

Every1ElseInKnowsley · 14/07/2026 20:33

I don't think Tom is awful - he just makes everything about him. His sister makes everything about her.

I like the idea of Harrison imploding. It does seem a bit of a coincidence that he's come home around the same time.

I think he'll put pressure on Fallon to have a behbeh, and use Kirsty's age to try and persuade Fallon. At 41 and having said clearly that she does not want to have children, she is unlikely to change her mind.

Amber's mother is batshit.

ForAmberPoster · 14/07/2026 20:40

Does everyone on here hate Harrison and love Fallon?
I haven’t listened for that long and don’t know her history but I found her unfeeling towards him about losing a baby that he wanted.

What doesn’t add up for me is that she makes such a big deal about Martha, people I know that don’t want children are indifferent or uninterested in children.

Well it was a baby he didn’t even know about really. I don’t think it’s a case of hate Harrison love Fallon. It’s more the fact that they have been portrayed as this wonderfully in love couple ,when in reality they don’t share the same values at all.
