All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to be Brian's child or stepchild, or other unusual views.

They were still using the cane at my school 70/80s

I've only worked as a teacher in London and Derbyshire and both had stopped the practice by the mid 80s when I started teaching. I know it was still going on elsewhere until the law changed.

Sorry to hear that, @TeenToTwenties. Nothing too bad or stressful happened last night. Chris applied fake tan so he would look less pale compared with the other farriers, but got distracted sorting out a crisis to do with the farrier stuff for the show and forgot to wash it off, so he is now orange. Lottie thought this was very funny. Amber had a funny turn in Ambridge and Susan looked after her. Susan thinks Amber is overdoing things and ought to start her maternity leave from Farm Supplies as soon as she can. Amber was cross with her Dad and George because Bill asked George to drive one of his cars to a different position on the showground, having forgotten that George is banned from driving. Amber told her Dad that they're not taking the fancy cot.

The show must be imminent now. Today? Tomorrow?

I think the show was due to be Thursday, so maybe today. I hope it goes well and Keira wins with the Texels.

No, because the showground is still a public place. Not sure if it is because it's probably not accessible to the public when the exhibitors are setting up their stands. I still don't think he should have driven though.

I should know this about the showground, but I can't remember. Plus things may have changed since the early '90s...

So Lottie was trying so hard to get in to Chris's pants, it was embarrassing. She was practically panting. I think Chris must be a bit thick not to have noticed.

I wondered if Amber's dad asked George to drive the car on purpose to hopefully get him in trouble. Amber's dad's mokney accent is sounding really fake. Being a Londoner myself it is putting my teeth on edge.

His accent doesn't bother me, and I'm sure people who lived in Lewisham 18 years ago then moved to the Midlands might have all sorts of accents.

My accent went all plazzy when I moved away from my roots.

Plus what would be the legal position with regard to insurance if George damaged the car or caused damage, or God forbid, injured a member of the public? He isn’t insured to drive Bills car.

He wouldn't be insured. There shouldn't be members of the public there.
The driver would be liable.

If a third party (another exhibitor or one of the organisers) was injured, they'd probably throw the book at George, and Bill would probably not get away scot-free.

I thought it must be Sophie but why on earth did they not have a line mentioning her name, I’d have had no clue apart from “not Kate/ Camilla” really.
Not sure LEAF is exactly well known…
