Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you want to hear more from Markey, or other unusual views.

I'm on ww and I had tinned salmon and a jacket pot for lunch today it was delicious.
I never understand gravy and chips either but my DH loves it or, yuck! Curry sauce.

Tracy's going to pop her clogs from a cardiac arrest isn't she. The "twinge from the tug of war" will be another BBC information broadcast about how women's symptoms are often more subtle and different from men's.

It made a bit of a break from all the bleurgh, with people getting on with doing stuff and being mostly cheerful. Obviously disaster will ensue, because the SWs have little imagination and think their audience wants endless "drama".

Peter White's comment was IMO perfectly fine.

I thought it was a tad unkind, but I didn't hear every word of what the chap had said so maybe it was justified.

I haven't heard of mackem chips. I was told once it's ordinary brown sauce that's been vinegared down but I think there's more to it than that.

Iceland sometimes gets referred to as a Scottish company. It's based in Deeside, but it's near Chester not in Scotland . The first branch was in Shropshire.

They also sell salmon.

I missed the twinge but wondered where all the ‘lucky to have each other’ stuff was going today… I like Tracey, although she sounds like she’s talking through a bubble, but in contrast to others who imagine her slim, I always thought she’d be slightly thick around the waist (chips?!) and i suppose prone to cardiac issues (ditto Lillian (alcohol) and Jennifer (cooking)). Although if Jenny had a heart attack, maybe Tracey will get away with needing a stent or something….

I visited Canada last year and DH was thrilled to discover Poutine which is a vile combination of chips with cheese curds on top slathered in gravy. It is disgusting! And their new National dish as far as I could see.

Arf! Were you in Québec - the province, not necessarily the city? MrG lived there for many years and one of his sons still does. When we visited him in Montréal, poutine was ubiquitous, but I declined their generous offer to try it. Neither of them blamed me!

Tracey and Freddie were a joy to listen to, even talking about cricket. As were Chelsea, Zainab and Martyn even talking about golf.

Jazzer I could do without.

I have not listened yet but Tracey cannot go. I love her. Honest enough and hardworking. Jazzer would be bereft (although he will cope with the children), and he’s also a fave.

I know exactly what Tracey looks like. She looks like my friend. Tall, athletic, and uncompromising, but also somewhat buxom. A brunette with long hair.

I didn't take that as pemonitions of Tracy going.
Jazzer however, I'd be happy to lose. I can't stand him. He gives me the creeps.

I like Jazzer and Tracy - they seem unusually well-matched and happy. This means they are doomed, aren't they?

The sauce in salt 'n' sauce is disgusting. And it's not a Scottish thing. It's an Edinburgh thing. The "sauce" It doesn't go much further north than Inverkeithing or west of Bathgate.

It's entirely out of character for Edinburgh.

Jazzer in the OWS I'm worried about if we suspect doom.

OWS? The swimming? Yeah, no problem if they want to drown Jazzer.

That would be An Absolute Outrage, but I'm a bit torn ... because it would be such a very good reason to just give up on the whole thing. Not that there haven't been many others (like the sheer tedium of everything involving the Snells, Susan, Adam ... need I go on?) but dedding Jazzer would destroy Ambridge's only happy couple.

I don't think they'll dedd Jazzer but it would be glorious to hear if they did. I hate his voice and I hate all the rubbish he spouts about being Scottish.

Arf @IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle - I should perhaps have phrased that better. They are the only couple - apart from the Maliks, perhaps - that (to me) seem genuinely/convincingly attached. There is a lot of desperation in the rest of them!

I'll be gutted if they drown Jazzer. One of the few likeable characters.

Why couldn't Joy be doing the swim?

We've not heard from Ali-stare and Denise for a while.
