Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that, or other unusual views.

The problem is that Laurence is soooo nasty in every respect and that makes him dull. It'd be more interesting if he was only one out of racist, sexist, snobby, boorish and letcherous...

Well I suppose he has to be irredeemably awful if the point is to make Lynda good. Not sure it worked- wouldn't want to be stuck with either of them.

Lynda was unpleasnt to Adil when he first arrived.

She did. Everything to Tom apart from that. Tony was outraged, and Pat even more so on his behalf. But then Otto-the-Bull knelt on Tony and he was in a coma for months, and Peggy had a change of heart and altered her will to leave everything divvied three ways among her three children. And I hope she has updated it since Jennifer's death, or the editorial team has a lot of scope for messing about.

Oh Lynda, I take back everything I said about you. That fair put Gnasher's gas at a peep. And Gnasher's suggestions sounded rubbish for a cricket tea.

I admit the recording at the end was sweet- a nice send off. It's highly implausible it would exist, but that was a nice touch.

When June Spencer said, shortly after she officially retired from the programme, that she had recorded her last contribution to The Archers, I assumed that she meant she had recorded something to be broadcast after her death. So I was sort-of anticipating something like that. It's a bit of a shame that it was so unmemorable that my brain has already erased it!

It was the poem Peggy read out on New Year's Eve 2020.

Synopsis: "As the bells finish their chime Peggy is reading: we hear some verses of 'Ring out wild bells', with lacunae. There is cheering when she finishes with the penultimate verse ('Ring out old shapes of foul disease') and the words 'a thousand years of peace'.

So they may well already have had the whole thing recorded back then, and have played it without the Noises Off this time.

When they mentioned individual beef pies in tonight's episode, all I could think of the was the mushroom poisoning trial going on here in Victoria. The accused made individual beef Wellingtons - all the better to poison youand not me with my dear.

Yes she was .. but it was a way of introducing her to the family who she instinctively bonded with..

Not sure what your point is- was she atoning for being horrible to Adil?
