Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that, or other unusual views.

I would think the idea of Helen dating Martyn would be ridiculous except the whole thing about Pat being obsessed with the water company and Martin being the big baddie from the water company seems like a set up for something. Although most storylines on The Archers seem like a set up something, never to be mentioned again.

I do think I might ‘swipe left’ on most of The Archer’s storylines these days though!

I've had the same thought. And what happens if your mate that works behind the bar is actually called Angela?

Water company aside, I can imagine the Bridge Farm Archers being quite snobbish about Martyn Gibson, despite being themselves descended from a drunkard and a <shudder> Londoner and <double shudder> half Welsh!

For the avoidance of anyone taking offence, I am half Welsh and it is definitely the better half of me!

Well! Wrong thread!

The current Ben Archer is not as far as I know paired up with Beth, so it doesn't matter where they met. Ditto Helen and Lee.
It is relevant in that Helen met Greg, Rob and Lee locally, so might not feel a need to look beyond a certain radius.

If I think about current couples, most seem to have met in Ambridge, so I could argue that who John Benjamin Archer isn't relevant. It's of interest to me, and relevant to the family history though.

Can somebody pop Freddie Pargetter on that dating app; he must be one of the most eligible bachelors in Borsetshire (yet seemingly asexual).

Come to think of it Tash could run a speed dating night at the tearoom; so many singletons in Ambridge!

Does the tearoom have a licence to sell alcohol? Because I'd need quite a few drinks before going to a speed-dating evening among that crew!

A speed dating event at Te Rum could bring in a bit of dosh for Natasha. Te Rum might find a licence to sell alcohol helpful for that.

Help! I seem to have somehow missed what Peggy did with her assets. Do we know? I’ve gathered that no-one’s inherited much, but there’s money available for a family holiday, but that’s all I’ve got. I can’t bear the thought of going back through the omnibus to try to find the moment of disclosure….

I’m watching Coronation Street with Harrison playing Todd Grimshaw’s latest squeeze. I’d totally forgotten the Todd actor played Kirsty’s stepson Gavin!! Were they both in it at the same time??
