Series 1, Episode 1 - Abu Dhabi. Not sure how many series they are going to schedule.

BBC Radio 4 - Cabin Pressure, Series 1, Abu Dhabi

A cat, a thermostat and Bristol combine in the ups and downs of a tiny charter airline.

I think they must have just done the first series, 6 episodes.

lovemetomybones · 28/02/2025 16:53

They are on Spotify if you have it. But each series is one recording.

Following on from this revelation, spending many happy hours catching up with this marvellous series, I thought I'd see what else I could find.

Started listening to John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme on BBC Sounds and it's hysterical.
Man is a genius.

BRILLIANT!

He is indeed truly amazing.
He has also written double acts, which are fab (i love the penguin diplomacy one). He also was on my teenage diary, which was brilliant to listen to.

He did a tour before covid, so worth keeping an eye out for in case he gets any bright ideas to do another one.

I wore red trousers especially😀

Penguin diplomacy is really funny.

Does anyone else hear the advert for Jet 2 when they talk about "My Jet 2" and just think it should be My Jet now?"

I tend to switch off during adverts so hadn't noticed what they were saying but after reading this, I do hear "My Jet 2" and yes, now I do then hear Caroline saying "My Jet Now."

I'm new to CP & v enjoying it on BBC- does anyone have knowledge of whether they will keep going with next series, or should I buy on Audible - and do I need to listen in order?

Yes - you need to listen in order.

There's character arcs ,new people introduced and themes get developed.

BBC probably will carry on - but you can never tell when.

DreadPirateRobots · 02/03/2025 20:26

Definitely listen in order. They're all mindbendingly funny, but the relationships change and develop a great deal between Abu Dhabi and Zurich.

LuvelyBunchOfBeetroot · 03/03/2025 14:59

Hang on - are the episode destinations in alphabetical order? That's my kind of airline!

WoppingBigBackside · 03/03/2025 15:14

The first one is Abu Dhabi and the last one is Zurich.

HarpQuartet · 03/03/2025 15:22

You might find you can borrow them online free from your library - mine uses borrowbox

BitOutOfPractice · 03/03/2025 15:24

Oh @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g thank you!

You'll be struggling to find some of the actual airports though!!

GetDressedYouMerryGentlemen · 03/03/2025 15:46

@LuvelyBunchOfBeetroot

You could type the words Cabin Pressure into YouTube and see if any of the results take your fancy.

😉

madameimadam · 10/03/2025 21:31

Well, I've finished it. Every last episode.
LOVED it.

What can I listen to now?! I'm bereft..

That's the trouble @madameimadam , nothing else ever matches up to Cabin Pressure!
It's just such fantastic writing - really very clever but seemingly so simple . And a stellar cast who bring it all to life.
Have you listened to John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme or Double Acts?

madameimadam · 12/03/2025 19:57

I have, yes. A few episodes in, I googled to see what else John Finnemore had done. Love Souvenir Programme.

I'll give Double Acts a listen too, thanks!

Chersfrozenface · 13/03/2025 20:17

Facebook just suggested a Cabin Pressure group to me. Its profile picture was, of course, an otter.

lovemetomybones · 23/03/2025 12:47

Today is brilliant!!!!!!! I never realised there was a series 5, just found it and it’s utter genius!!! Laughed so hard this past hour! The lemon is in play! Fairytale ending x

Martin wouldn't have done this

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/24/travel/plane-turns-around-pilot-forgets-passport/index.html

A United Airlines Boeing 787 jetliner flying from Los Angeles to Shanghai had to turn around last weekend after it was discovered one of the pilots had taken off without a passport, the airline told CNN in a statement.

HAHA OMG. Martin would also have been my first thought on reading this headline. I love Yverdon-les-Bains, and the fact that having to resist Douglas all the time has inadvertently made Martin into a badass.

CaveMum · 31/03/2025 11:24

Ahh my fellow CP Nerds, how BRILLIANT to see you all.

In the spirit of excellent radio comedy’s, I really recommend going very old school and listening to the early BBC shows. Don’t dismiss them due to their age, they were ahead of their time in lots of ways (Julian and Sandy from Round the Horne anyone?) and were the early stomping grounds of comedy geniuses like Milligan, Sellers, Barker, Cleese and The Goodies.

Look out for:

The Goon Show
The Navy Lark
Round the Horne
I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again

LyndaSnellsSniff · 31/05/2025 11:38

I just found this thread.

So many wonderful moments in CP. My favourite episode is Ottery St Mary but I think my favourite moment is in Uskerty, when Martin and Carolyn are trying to hitch a lift and Martin pops out from behind a tree. The way he says "hello!" is brilliant! 😂
