@OnlyWhenILaugh - that can only be described as Brilliant!

Three generations of my family went to see his tour in 2019 and nearly injured ourselves laughing. The gig started with playing real life Guess Who with the audience - it was genius.

He played real life Guess Who too! 😄

Yay! Wasn’t that great?

I’m getting his mystery puzzle for my eldest for his birthday.
On his 18th birthday, in a big hamper of random presents I bought him, I put a plastic lemon so the lemon could always be in play.

OK reading about real-life Guess Who on here in no way prepared me for the hilarity that ensured. Brilliant!

Chersfrozenface · 21/01/2025 22:14

Damn, damn, damn!

It's gone from Podchaser and I wasn't even half way through.

And on Sounds it's a week between episodes - only the first 3 available so far.

Beebsta · 22/01/2025 08:20

It’s still available on Pocket Casts.

i love what MJN stands for! 🤣

Chersfrozenface · 22/01/2025 13:15

Thank you!

Andylion · 22/01/2025 13:37

I bought all the episodes from somewhere and listen to them once a year a so. I was sick over Christmas this year, (poor me, on my own☹️) and listened to the whole thing again.

DreadPirateRobots · 22/01/2025 14:43

I have them all from Audible. DH and I listened to them on our long drives up to Scotland to see family and a few years ago the DC started demanding them too 😁Molokai and Fizz Buzz Ave a Banana are definitely their favourites, and they love to sing "Bing bong merrily on high, in heaven the phone is ringing!"

MainStreetOrHighStreet · 22/01/2025 15:07

Are there just three episodes available on BBC Sounds? Or is that me not really understanding how it works? Grin

Yes - they're doing repeats on R4 extra and the episodes are becoming available on BBC sounds as each one airs.
I think each is then available for a month or so.

lovemetomybones · 22/01/2025 18:35

They are on as one continuous season on Spotify if anyone has that platform

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 22/01/2025 18:39

What’s everyone’s favourite episode then?

Despite my user name, mine is Uskerty (I regularly use the line “only Father Christmas cares about what you want - I am telling you what you are going to do.”) Swindon is another fave.

DS’s (age 10) is Xinzhou, DD’s (age 13) is Ottery St Mary, and DH favours Limerick.

Ipswich, Ottery St Mary and Qikiqtarjuaq are my favourite
St.Petersburg has the real character shift - it was interesting when you read John Finnemore's blog as he talks about them all uniting aganst a common foe.

I love Paris - the Sherlock quote from Benedict Cumberbatch is really funny.

And Douz. I can find no other word to describe fire truck than fire truck

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 22/01/2025 18:57

I do love Douz. And St Petersburg. And I’ve realised I meant Ipswich not Swindon!

And Johannesburg! Kiki-de-ki!!

I almost thought for a second there was a Cabin Pressure episode I hadn’t listened to!

My faves are Rotterdam, Uskerty, Xinzhou and Molokai. Though I do really love Fitton and I feel like it’s the start of them just spending time together and them and us getting to know them and then working together.

DreadPirateRobots · 23/01/2025 09:26

Fitton is the first "bottle" episode, where they just spend the entire time cooped up together in the plane, and it definitely does change their relationships. John Finnemore's notes on each episode are insightful and lovely.

St Petersburg is definitely my favourite for character development. For humour I think it might have to be Ipswich. Or Ottery St Mary.

St. Peter and his soft spot for otters. "You guys. I can't stay mad at you."

That's why Uskerty is interesting - as it's Douglas and Arthur "in the bar" and Caroline and Martin up a tree.

The writing and the dynamics is so good.

Lefthanddownnumberone · 23/01/2025 19:26

Guess from my user name you can see it’s my favourite radio show. Brilliant !

DreadPirateRobots · 23/01/2025 22:01

Between the dames and the horses, I don't know why I put my hat on.

Chersfrozenface · 25/01/2025 17:11

Once I've finished Cabin Pressure, does anyone have any recommendations for other radio comedies?

I would be most grateful.

WoppingBigBackside · 25/01/2025 17:37

@Chersfrozenface , you just start again.

There's always John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme!

Also Double Acts if you can find it anywhere. Really excellent two-hander short plays.

I may need a free trial of Audible - 2 series on there.

Also might find some stultifyingly boring audio books as a cure for insomnia. That would be good, too.
