The consequence of Speedo-Mick failing to find Rochelle will be gossip in the village to rival the speculation here and possibly internet searches for Rochelle's birth/marriage/death records and - if she exists - those of her children. If I were Joy, I'd move away. Whatever the truth is, it's her business.

TottersBlankly · 28/05/2024 08:19

There’s a day coming up when ‘Josh has concerns for a friend.’

Hmm

There isn’t surely a single person in the village, to whom he is not related by blood or marriage, that Josh could call a friend. Except Paul. So it must be him.

Bruisername · 28/05/2024 08:28

Yes I was going to say Paul. Perhaps his suspicions are roused

TottersBlankly · 28/05/2024 08:33

Mmm … ‘Theres a shock for Paul’ the day before, so I guess Josh will be dealing with the effects of Paul having discovered the truth about his mother and Alistair.

So boring …

Gonners · 28/05/2024 08:49

The "truth" about Alistair and Denise is that apart from the odd teenage snog in the Geography Room maps cupboard, a dinner, and some naughty plans foiled by the accident, nothing has happened and Denise seems to have gone off the boil. (That'll be the cold waters of the Am.)

Eastie77Returns · 28/05/2024 11:27

Maybe the shock is Denise and John splitting up. I hope not. I’d like Denise to stay in her marriage and hopefully decide it’s best she leaves the surgery. I cannot bear this pointless A&D storyline.

Friday 7th June spoiler has finally appeared, along with the the cast for the week ending that day. No mention of Rochelle. Now we know who Jason is, though, and they are presumably unrelated!

Events spiral out of control at the Stables, and there’s bad news for Oliver.

I'd forgotten about the 80 years since D-Day. 6/6/44

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2024 19:20

I don't think there can be many living veterans who were there. And now even the Normandy beaches are vanishing as the sea-level rises. Maybe it's come round to time to call it a day.

WhoppingBigBackside · 28/05/2024 19:31

I think we should continue to commemorate it. It's an important historical event.
There are people alive who lost brothers, fathers, cousins, uncles, grandfathers.
Lest we forget.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2024 19:41

When do we stop? At the hundredth anniversary?

I prefer to commemorate the first world war stopping, myself. D-Day was not the end of the fighting; it was the beginning of another phase of the war.

WhoppingBigBackside · 28/05/2024 19:49

I don't want it to stop.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2024 19:56

Because someone you knew was killed in it?

If one has to celebrate something from WWII, why not VE day?

WhoppingBigBackside · 28/05/2024 20:26

Not celebrate, commemorate.

I'm not that old.

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/05/2024 20:32

I agree.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2024 20:57

Which of the other important days from the war does one commemorate, then? The collapse of the Maginot line and Dunkirk? (All those civilian boats doing their best to save as many lives as they could are worth several hearty cheers, I feel.) The Battle of Britain, of course, went on for too long; there isn't one single day one could pick on.

Nah, I'll go on thinking of the whole lot and both wars, on 11th November. Quietly, and without troubling the Cenotaph with my presence.

MollyButton · 28/05/2024 22:13

Well I have to agree Dunkirk is worth celebrating without it I wouldn't be here.

WhoppingBigBackside · 29/05/2024 08:56

I like New Robert. Not as much as The Real Robert Snell, but it's good to get more Lyndy.

As regards commemorating events, many of them are only once a decade or so.
The 11th November and Remembrance Day are every year, a solemn reminder of both wars.

I'm looking forward to the victory rolls and a bit of bunting.

JanglyBeads · 29/05/2024 22:06

So what happens at the stables tmrw?!

CHEESEY13 · 29/05/2024 22:14

Where is Kirstie? Has she exhausted herself in a fit of over-Wokiness or has she gone to Just Stop Oil?

WhoppingBigBackside · 29/05/2024 22:17

She's looking after Rex's pigs.

Bruisername · 30/05/2024 12:38

No she delegated that to george

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g . I do hope that there won't be a change of mind on Fallon's part.

JanglyBeads · 30/05/2024 22:47

Oh so Alice returns!
