What next after Cabin Pressure and It's A Fair Cop?

We have a 5ish hour drive tomorrow.
DC are 12 and 15. And back again on Friday.

Cabin Pressure has filled hours and hours of driving time for us. We've listened to it all the way through 3 or 4 times. We've recently mixed it up a bit with Its A Fair Cop.

Can anyone suggest anything ever we might all enjoy? (I never really "got" Old Harry's Game).

How does that make you feel, should fill up many hours . It's got the wonderful Robert Allam in as well.

john finnemore souviner programme (one of the same actors as cabin pressure)

Clare in the community

thecatneuterer · 01/04/2024 20:55

John Finnemore's souvenir programme

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/04/2024 21:12

It's interesting that JF's Souvenir programme has come up a few times.

I know JF wrote Cabin Pressure (and is in it), but I just don't like it so much. It's the character in CP that are so appealing I think.

Wooden Overcoats. Absolutely fantastic, very, very funny.

partystress · 01/04/2024 21:27

Fags, Mags and Bags. Different kind of humour in many ways, but equally clever with language and some really endearing characters.

Clare in the community is great, but don't listen to the last series, it ruins the rest of the series in retrospect

rollerskatie · 01/04/2024 21:41

Welcome to our village, please invade carefully is really good.

MrsCrumPinnett · 01/04/2024 21:45

Another vote for Souvenir Programme
In and Out of the Kitchen

Cabin Pressure all through again 😁

Arrestedmanevolence · 01/04/2024 21:47

I nearly wet myself on the tube the other day listening to the little pig sketch from souvenir programme. I was crying with laughter. I got some funny looks!

I hated that!

I second the suggestion of Welcome to Our Village, Please Invade Carefully, I love that one.

The original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is great fun.

I like the very punny ones of Thanks A Lot, Milton Jones, and The Casebook of Max and Ivan.

If anyone is a Lord of the Rings fan, then Elvenquest might work well (or mortally offend them, I suppose!)

So much of that makes me laugh out loud. I think it's the funniest comedy I've ever heard or seen.

I was driving when the football commentary sketch was on and nearly had an accident as I was laughing so much I totally lost concentration.

KingscoteStaff · 01/04/2024 21:55

What's the Roger Allam and Joanna Lumley one? I love that, but I think it's an over 40s one rather than CP which works for 7 upwards.

TheFallenMadonna · 01/04/2024 21:59

Bleak Expectations.

TheFallenMadonna · 01/04/2024 22:00

That Mitchell and Webb Sound.

KeeeeeepDancing · 01/04/2024 22:05

Good omens book done by the BBC radio team. It's good

Keepingthingsinteresting · 01/04/2024 22:07

Try Listen Against, Bleak Expectation, Welcome to our Village please invade carefully, Warhorses of Letters, ThatMitchell & Webb Sound, anything by PG Wodehouse (Radio 4 usually have some Jeeves & Wooster in sounds), ReincarNathan, You’re dead to me, Mark Steel’s in Town or My First Planet if you can get it. Might also be worth giving I’m Sorry I haven’t a Clue a go.

So jealous of your kids hearing all these for the first time!

Hut 33

I like Chambers or Absolute Power or Hut 33.

i really adored Giles Wembley Hogg goes off.

Do you like adventure if so Radio 7 as it was did a wonderful adaption of Dr Syn alias the Scarecrow.

Otherwise golden oldies
The men from the Ministry - which really does prove the point that they have always been incompetent.
Hancocks 1/2 hour
Dad’s Army
The Navy Lark

wheresmyshoe · 01/04/2024 22:14

I love so many of the suggestions, Hut 33 is particularly brilliant.

I love Tom Wigglesworth's Hang Ups. So funny.

wheresmyshoe · 01/04/2024 22:16

Oh and Deep Trouble is great.

Lemoncurtain · 01/04/2024 22:20

Quiz Nite! - I think there's 4 different episodes all based around quiz nights, good fun Smile

BeaRF75 · 01/04/2024 22:28

Definitely Fags, Mags and Bags - it's genius.
Tom Wigglesworth's Hang Ups.
Mark Steel's In Town.
Currently there are some lovely Jeeves and Wooster stories done by Martin Jarvis.
