Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think it's great that Shula's ministering to the heathen of the North-East, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here,]] where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have]] - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Well, here we are. I was strongly tempted to go for the dog's dinner, dog/human bullies etc suggestions for the title, but Mere asked if we could not have anything graphic in the thread title, so I've held back. In a couple of weeks when this thead is nearing its end the attack may all be a distant memory, anyway.

Goodness knows what's in store for us now. Kenton seems likely to have PTSD, not surprisingly. Surely we must soon find out why HARRY talks so. Unconvincingly. Alice! Hello. CHRIS. CHRIS. etc, and also whether he is (as many of us suspect) addicted to opiates and/or up to no good. Too much to hope why nobody in Ambridge horsey circles had ever heard of him until recent weeks.

Over to you!

That's exactly right @Voltefarce. If you intend to do something to cause serious injury or death, even totally spur of moment and not at all pre-meditated, that would be murder. So snatching up a kitchen knife and severing an artery in a fit of rage would be murder if the person died even though not pre-meditated.

What was the charge in Helen's case? (Too lazy to look it up myself.)

Oh the Alastair/denise thing is super icky. Poor Paul. He’s going to end up witnessing something and be traumatised.

do flights get in at 2am? I thought there were restrictions

do we really need more Harry? I feel he’s done his bit and we don’t really need him any further.

is the tea room so big that Emma didn’t hear any of what Fallon said?

Bruisername · 05/03/2024 19:15

Alistair is just so wet and desperate. It’s very unappealing

Sidebeforeself · 05/03/2024 17:24

What? You can’t murder someone in a kitchen?! I’m off to speak ti DH about his dishwasher stacking in that case. An accident might happen.

Manslaughter carries a maximum penalty of life.

I take it everyone has noticed that manslaughter = man's laughter. Just as therapist is the rapist. (and moon starer is an anagram of astronomer)

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 05/03/2024 19:31

I bet he will find out by coming across them snogging in the medicine cupboard or something along those lines.

OverArmour · 05/03/2024 19:32

That scene and impending kiss with Alistair and Denise was the most passionless interaction I’ve heard. They got far more excited about the Lovell James selling expectations.

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/03/2024 19:33

I also think having her son working at the practice adds an extra layer of ick - I can’t imagine he’d be overjoyed (but who knows - maybe he’ll be all: «You two are made for each other » and delighted to welcome Alistair as step-father. Not a chance! No SW could resist the opportunities for drama if Paul doesn't approve.

do flights get in at 2am? I thought there were restrictions It's an airport by airport thing. Some have restrictions on night flying , others don't. Even "restrictions" may mean "not more than x flights overnight".

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 05/03/2024 19:33

That was all rather fab.

Emma has morphed entirely into her mother! GrinGrin

Attempted murder.

Eastie77Returns · 05/03/2024 20:15

Where is Jakob??

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/03/2024 20:19

He went to see some sheep a while ago and hasn't been heard since.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/03/2024 20:28

Thanks, Asking! So Jakob's been eaten by sheep and nobody's noticed? Sounds about as believable as most of the rest of the storylines at present ...

New thread needed fairly soon. Title ideas, anyone?

Is Fallon's tummy bug pregnancy or a double bluff by the SWs?

BridgerGo · 05/03/2024 20:57

She didn’t have a tummy bug, she was lying to Emma as she pulled a sickie yesterday. (On a side note, if I worked in hospitality, I wouldn’t use a stomach bug as cover for a one day sickie as I’m sure you’re meant to have more than 1 day off… a la the E. coli disaster at bridge farm).

I imagine she used a stomach bug as an excuse so that TomTit / other BF Archers can fire her for coming back without the proper interval or whatever (such a fuss, Millie Robson didn’t even die), thus ensuring she and her idiot husband are both jobless and therefore free to take over The Bull after Markie and his dogs put the frighteners on Jolene again…
clunk, clunk, clunk

But the responsibility is on her employers. Once she's told them she has a stomach bug, they cannot allow her back for 48 hours.

Who owns the Bull?

Who owns the Bull?

51% Lilian, 49% minus a share for Jamie, Jolene.

Maybe we can go 80’s art film style:

The Policeman, The Drunk, The Vet and his Lover

When they decide nothing's happening until she's spoken to John - how come Denise and Alistair are snogging in the cupboard and going out to dinner on Friday? I realise one can be quite deluded about these things when driven by hormones, but surely even they're not that stupid?

Yeah, okay, I know the answer.
