Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think it's great that Shula's ministering to the heathen of the North-East, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here,]] where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have]] - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Well, here we are. I was strongly tempted to go for the dog's dinner, dog/human bullies etc suggestions for the title, but Mere asked if we could not have anything graphic in the thread title, so I've held back. In a couple of weeks when this thead is nearing its end the attack may all be a distant memory, anyway.

Goodness knows what's in store for us now. Kenton seems likely to have PTSD, not surprisingly. Surely we must soon find out why HARRY talks so. Unconvincingly. Alice! Hello. CHRIS. CHRIS. etc, and also whether he is (as many of us suspect) addicted to opiates and/or up to no good. Too much to hope why nobody in Ambridge horsey circles had ever heard of him until recent weeks.

Over to you!

Glad to get this set up before I start travelling again. Doing battle with the elements tomorrow and hoping that the ferry will run, which it signally failed to do today. [harrumph] Fortunately the hotel wifi is excellent, unexpectedly.

Thanks for the new thread. I've paused listening for now as it sounds so ridiculous.

Safe travels.

Thanks for the new thread. I'll be giving up MN (among other things) for Lent, so I hope to find you all again after that! Let's see how much further the SW stray from the plausible from now until next Wednesday!

It probably wasn't meant to be funny, but I did laugh a little tonight at the idea of Kenton having to take up residence on the bottom stair, and everyone else just having to get on with life around him. I have experience of (and therefore, I'm afraid, limited sympathy for) people who discharge themselves from hospital against medical advice.

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g and bon voyage!

Kenton will have to sleep downstairs, which be very handy for when Dodgy Bloke comes calling again (as he surely will)

Oh I remember having screws put in my foot and couldnt walk on it, the stairs were a nightmare.
I would never have discharged myself from hospital. Kenton is just making more work and stress for Jolene.
Susan is trying to be so crafty, its just childish and Adam is going to see right through her.

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to listen to the last couple of episodes... they sound dire. 🤔

I sympathise with Kenton. I hate hospitals, too.

Why have the last few actors employed have such awful voices? Harry sounds like a Victorian child. Ardil sounded like he had never acted in his life and delivered each line with a kind of shocked delay.
My mum has stopped listening after 70 years she says it’s just rubbish. I’m carrying on although I tend to listen in blocks rather than daily.

If we’ve been subjected to all this dog attack nonsense as a device for Shula returning to unmask Harry, I’ll be very vexed 😡

Although it hasn't got much attention on these threads, an all-time farcical low for me was last night when Susan decided that a crap practical joke (swapping boots so they didn't fit) would cure Adam of his patronising micromanagement style.

  1. She's a usually fairly practical and sensible woman in her 60s. Why would she suddenly morph into a 15 year old idiot?! I don't like Susan as a character (I still haven't forgiven her 'I never gossip' line to Clarrie years ago when they were trying to give up gossiping for Lent and she made poor Clarrie feel bad about herself - it was meant to be a comedic moment of Susan's lack of self-awareness, but it just came across as really mean) but she's not usually so utterly devoid of common sense. Even if she'd thought it was a hilarious jape, she couldn't possibly have thought it would get Adam to change his management style.
  2. I'm sure Adam didn't use to be so insufferable in his former jobs, did he? Is it trying to demonstrate his misogyny/ ageism that he treats Susan and Clarrie in a way he'd never had treated the people he managed before? Or that he doesn't know how to manage anymore after years away from managerial work? Or just that he's had a sudden personality switch?!

I thought the whole dairy thing was dire. It made me almost grateful for the light relief of Kenton, another man who doesn't know how to let women get on with their job without him.

I had to smile at Kenton faced with the stairs. As another who has had screws in my calcaneum, I went up our two flights of stairs on my arse once, got carpet burns, then had a bed brought down to the kitchen. You have to be young and fit to hop upstairs.

Thanks for the new thread @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g
