Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that, or other unusual views.

Spoilers: not on this thread, please! this was glorious (much nicer than the HORRIBLE thing she said about Kirsty having no children… you’d think she’d be a bit more sensitive about her own brother’s child!!!) - complete lack of awareness that this might not be thrilling news to Emma. And didn’t she follow it up with something like “you already know us!” Er yeah mate.

Kate and Jacob should have been Britney and Justin in their double denim days. I really hate fancy dress so I’m team Jacob. I didn’t like the way she tried to emotionally blackmail him by bringing up her mothers death and then threatening to go home. Perhaps he would enjoy doing new things with her if she didn’t bully him into doing it all her way. And she ultimately got her way.

and credit where it’s due - the Diwali scenes were well done even though it was a blatant compare and contrast with Alan’s offering.

Kate was not blackmailing Jakob. She said what she meant. A good party for a young person is just what that family needs. They've had a pretty awful time of it lately.

the article in the mail by graham Harvey talks about how lizzie was his creation and based on an ex/crush and how he had some regret for being involved in Nigel’s demise

I was stopped in my tracks at the idea of Kate being Miss Congeniality. I've never seen the film and don't know what it's about but just the associations of that word and the reality of Kate made me snort. Still, it is dress-up.

Does Rauarrrhiii know it's fancy-dress or is it some hideous surprise?

Perhaps I have stumbled by accident on a MN representation of Kate's variable headspace?

Anyway, we can now be sure her headspace features Jakob in a pretty important way.
