Vernon Kay.....

I’ve really really tried to make the transition from Ken to Vernon but it just ain’t happening and I now listen to Ken on Greatest Hits Essex.

The main reasons are:

VK’s love affair with himself. Why does he think we’re that interested in his life/past. He sometimes talks over people just to tell us yet another autobiographical tale. Yawn.

There is literally NO chemistry between him and Ritchie like there was with Ken. It’s so awkward sometimes that it’s cringeworthy.
The new pop quiz. Just no.

He isn’t Ken Bruce.

I like Vernon but he does need to chat less & play more music!

His dad was a trucker, don't you know..

I much prefer him to Zoe though, she seems so disingenuous. Vanessa Feltz was my favourite.

I'm warming to Vernon.
I don't think Ken had any chemistry with Ritchie tbh. I think Ken loathed him! Or that's that it sounded like

I must have missed the bit where Vernon told us for the eleventy billionth time that his dad was a trucker…

I’m not feeling the love either - he was good in small doses when he was covering for holidays etc, but Vernon’s love of Vernon is becoming very irritating. He and Scott ‘Boring’ Mills haven’t been the best choices.

Ritchie Anderson is beyond irritating - I don’t get the love for him at all.

And yy to Ken hating Ritchie! Or at least, finding him over-hyped and lacking in any discernible talent.

Scott Mills is so bland

I like Sarah Cox - perhaps she should have had the morning slot

It never really bothers me who is presenting. Well, except at the weekend. Then, they all seem to annoy me.

Sara Cox is my favourite.

It's a big no to Scott Mills.

Vernon and Zoe are OK but do both talk a lot (generally nonsense!)

Chris Evans talks the most about himself and swathes of people followed him away from the BBC.

I’m definitely warming to Vernon, although he does witter on a bit. He had big shoes to fill to be fair!

Scott Mills - Boring!!! Just no charisma sadly.

Zoe Ball - for some reason she just irritates me, again witters too much I think, and too gushy to the point of sounding fake.

Sara Cox - so natural and gets it just right!

I really like Vernon! I haven't noticed him talking too much, I think he has a good balance between chat and music

I followed Ken over to GHR but I can't abide the adverts and limited play list, So I'm back!
I actually now prefer ten to the top and think the music is better than it used to be(not sure if this is down to Vernon?)
I agree that Ken didn't seem to really like Ritchie,whereas vernon seems to have a genuine laugh with him.
Mind you I like listenjng to Jeremy vine so don't listen to me! Haha

He (Richie) calls himself a "personality" and tries to grab so much air and screen time despite being totally WITHOUT talent or personality.
Just can't listen to much of the station any more.

If it wasn't for Lisa and Gary's Saturday shows, Radio2 would be off my listening list.

I'm generally loving the new R2 line up. I even find Scott Mills listenable.
Was never a fan of Ken Bruce. Always felt like I was listening to something my Dad would like.

I have a very clear memory of driving to work and Ken more or less saying this directly to Ritchie! Nearly crashed the car 🤣
I like Vernon, he's very warm and lovely with the callers. Loved how excited he got about the Frank Sinatra guy the other day.

Scott Mills voice is very dull, his voice is not made for radio. So monotonous.

Haha, yes Vernon's love for Vernon is a definite theme.

Love Lisa Tarbuck, Elaine Paige and Michael Ball.

Fave was Graham Norton so I defect to Virgin at the weekends but could not bear to listen to Chris Evans at all!

Ugh I wouldn’t listen to Vernon due to the historical creepy sexting behaviours. My menopausal self is very intolerant of errant men and their shenanigans I’m afraid.

I remember Ritchie’s first foray into telly - think it was Countryfile or Springwatch or something - and he and Zoe were just about imploding with the excitement. In reality was dreadful - I just can’t figure out how he’s got this far.

Graham Norton was brilliant! And YY to Vernon’s sleazy past - I’ve no time for these men at my age/stage either.

It's Liza Tarbuck. I like her but I never listen to Radio 2.

Listened to Greatest Hits out of curiosity and didn’t like the playlist or adverts. Also, too much mentioning of their big names (Virgin does this also).

Scott Mills I actually quite like. I think his playlist has improved over time, more variety than when first thought.

Let’s face it, when Rylan first got his radio slot, we all thought wtf, but he’s been a huge success. His music isn’t really my usual genre, but I still enjoy his show.

I like Vernon but I think he is much more suited to This Morning on the TV than the radio

I’ve met him and can confirm that he’s an absolute self-serving, self-interested bell end.

Combine that with his gross sexting scandal, which nowadays would see him removed from his work, and his absolute lack of natural ability and I just cannot see how he has done so well.

We listened to radio 2 driving down to Cornwall last year on the day Ritchie was able to announce he was on strictly. I don't think he and zoe talked about anything else the whole programme! And then it was mentioned on KB about every 10 min as well. I was waiting for postmaster but we should really have changed station.
I preferred Ken and pop master but I'm OK with Vernon and I think Scott Mills is a big improvement on Steve Wright.
And almost anyone standing in for JV is an improvement!
