Apologies if this has been done before, but I'm new to this board and couldn't find anything. I look at Sounds each evening and download the programmes I want to listen to. If they're available, my downloads will always include:

Ed Reardon's Week
Any Questions/Answers?
Cabin Pressure
Questions from a Long Marriage
Electric Ink
V I Warshawski
Just One Thing
Moral Maze
Money Box
The Life Scientific
More or Less
The Archers
Inside Health
The Briefing Room
King Street Junior
Beyond Belief
Gloomsbury

What other gems am I missing please?

Are you new to MN? If so you may not know about the long running Archers thread:

Drop in - it’s life changing!

I really enjoyed two psychiatry-related series recently, both via Sounds. One was called something like A History of Delusions, presented by Professor Daniel Freeman. The other was presented by the writer Horatio Clare. Can't remember the title but it was something along the lines of Whither Psychiatry?

Dinneronmybfpillow · 02/03/2023 09:18

The Kitchen Cabinet when it's on. It's my comfort blanket of a programme

TottersBlankly · 02/03/2023 09:19

Yes, the psychiatry series has been good. (And very TA relevant!)

@whyhere You missed out ‘In Our Time’. It’s on right now - but also the back catalogue is pure gold, a whole education in itself.

I’ve forgotten their titles but programmes where one creative person interviews another are usually enthralling.

For decades R4 had the most brilliant hour long dramas after lunch. Now they’ve cut the time down and the quality is so variable I can’t honestly recommend that slot.

For drama you need R3 now - particularly on Sunday night.

And despite having turned into a pseudo-Classic FM with lots of easy listening bits and pieces, R3 does still have one or two discussion programmes and new music programmes worth seeking out.

TheFeistyFeminist · 02/03/2023 09:25

Never available as a download - presumably because they make more money selling box sets of it, but I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. It's touring currently, we went last night, and it's the most I've laughed in AGES. It's on rotation in the 6.30 comedy slot.

Soul Music can be good and like Desert Island Discs there is a huge back catalogue available so you can dip in and out.

nauticant · 03/03/2023 10:08

Just about any drama by Katie Hims. Black Dog is a fabulous play. As were the connected Listening to the Dead series.

Mike Walker is also often a source of the good drama stuff.

Used to like JAM, ISIHAC, but no longer bother with the 6.30 slot. The Joanna Lumley Roger Allam is ok

Like some of the plays/dramas

Can't listen to Soul Music, it's guaranteed to make me never want to hear the song again

Tweet of the day is when I go downstairs to make a coffee so I don't have to listen to it

Just fantastic

GMOOH2023 · 03/03/2023 18:13

@beagoldfish ooh, I'd forgotten about that!

Lovely, gentle humour.

WhoppingBigBackside · 03/03/2023 18:31

I forgot Gloomsbury and The News Quiz.
I also like The Moral Maze.

I tend to like things that are just on in the background, or that are strangely annoying (MM,AA) Smile

I’ll add:

Ramblings

How does that make you feel
its a sitcom about therapy, one of the recurring characters is played by roger allam. They replay it on extra sometimes or it’s all on audible in one “book”
