Spoiler thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread. Last thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3439443-keep-it-to-yourself-the-archers-spoilers-thread-4

I said in the other thread that I'd be swerving any legal issues that arise regarding Kirsty and Philip - but I'm still ridiculously curious to see what they'll do!

The most surprising thing would be for Kirsty to decline to give evidence against him. The soapiest would be to find herself compelled to give evidence for him (like Pat with Rob). Or they could really complicate things and find a reason to prosecute her too. Which would be grim - but Helen didn't mention Kirsty's previous brush with the law for nothing ...

PoulePouletteEternellement · 29/12/2020 19:24

And ... in the end they went for the simplest option. At least, it should be if the investigation and getting a trial date take long enough for her to be divorced. Dunno.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/12/2020 19:26

Trashing GM crops isn't really in the same category as using and selling on slave labour. I thought it was mentioned to show how staid she had become.

MaryLeeOnHigh · 29/12/2020 22:24

Assuming they get the law right, Kirsty is going to discover that she can't begin divorce proceedings till the first wedding anniversary. I'd hope they will have go the trial out of the way before then.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/12/2020 22:32

She might need to see a solicitor about the house though.

campion · 29/12/2020 22:47

I was wondering if she may be eligible for an annulment MaryLeeOnHigh but a quick skim through the permitted grounds don't mention marrying one week and discovering he's a criminal rotter the next. Pity that!

Poor Kirsty. I hope she and Roy wander off into the sunset sometime. He's what she needs even if she doesn't realise it yet.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 30/12/2020 19:26

So, after tonight I'm guessing Peggy's shocking suggestion might be that Phoebe should sack Pip and Rex from the Conservation Trust. (Or, at least, Peggy would do the withdrawing of access to vast amounts of dosh.)

Then, and I'm sure someone suggested this here or the other place, Kirsty could step in/up to take on the bits Phoebe's too grand for.

Only - Kirsty was the recipient of such fulsome praise tonight, I fear for her continued life after Friday ...

That sinkhole is coming for someone.

Not Phoebe, surely?

Ooh!

Roy.

Esse321 · 30/12/2020 20:40

Sinkhole? I was thinking some kind of slurry explosion on Brookfield - and Kenton being at fault, he is due to make an appearance and the spoilers say something about Shula having a dark night of the soul.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 30/12/2020 21:45

Freddie but no Lily this week. And they squeezed in Bernard the Trustee. Who had previously made it rather clear the LL show was make or break for young Frederick Pargetter. Ten years after Nigel's death, might the big news be that Freddie is to come into his inheritance forthwith?

I was guessing Elizabeth's engagement to Vince before, but that wouldn't require The Bernard to have an opinion on Freddie's show ...

(OTOH we have yet to hear from Lynda, who's in the cast list for the week. Though she's not an Archer / Pargetter ... Announcing her retirement from GG? Wouldn't really be a huge drama.)

FlosCampi · 30/12/2020 22:13

It looks like both Kirsty and Roy are alive next week, having read those one liners. When Roy said tonight he had to go to a quiz on Friday night....I immediately thought he meant the Archers quiz that's on at 7.15 Grin That would be amazing breaking of the fourth wall!

MaryLeeOnHigh · 30/12/2020 23:08

Surely someone has to get Covid at some point? I know they're behind the curve, but the almost universal immunity of the characters is just a tad improbable.

BeardieWeirdie · 30/12/2020 23:47

Shula will be wringing her hands at having spent so much money on Philip’s services, getting Alan to hire his slaves to mend whatever needed doing at the church, and for chucking in her marriage because she fancied Philip. Why didn’t I see? How can I serve the lord if I’ve contributed to these boys’ suffering? Amongst other me-me-me anguished cries.

MissBarbary · 01/01/2021 19:28

Or they could really complicate things and find a reason to prosecute her too.

Well done. I'm not sure what basis they have for that beyond Kirsty doing book keeping for Philip. But I suppose one might ask why is Philip using someone who has no experience or training whatsoever in accountancy, PAYE or VAT to do the books for him.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2021 19:31

Life-changing though?

Is she going to prison?

ILoveShula · 01/01/2021 19:58

She'll probably be released on bail. Cursedy in Custardy.
Happy New Year everyone.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2021 20:02

Yes, Happy New Year to the Spoilers!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 01/01/2021 20:38

Happy New Year all.

Now then, on we go with next week's lot.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 4th - 7th January 2021
Consciences are being wrestled with in the wake of recent revelations. David and Ruth have a big decision to make, but will they do the right thing? And a few miles away at Berrow, Justin is trying to keep a cool head after getting caught in the crossfire.
After an horrendous 2020, Lynda and Robert take comfort in the beauty of the countryside. But it’s not long before Lynda gets itchy feet.
Clarrie is also in good spirits following her and Eddie’s good news, and Emma might be giving them more reasons to celebrate.
Elsewhere, Neil finds himself in hot water, and Alan has wise words to share with his congregation.
##################################

I note, by the way, that Kirsty's surname has not been changed in the cast-list since the wedding. They may be trying to tell us something.

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/01/2021 20:59

Emma's up the duff then.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2021 21:00

Yup.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2021 21:01

Tsk. Where are my manners?

Thanks Asking

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2021 21:04

Thanks, Asking! I was just thinking earlier while looking at the cast photo (I linked to it on the other thread) that we haven't heard from Alan for a long, long time. No doubt he's going to give them a homily about slave labour. Usha called in to defend Kirsty?

OP posts:
MaryLeeOnHigh · 01/01/2021 22:07

Another job for Anna Gregorian, maybe?

MaryLeeOnHigh · 01/01/2021 22:08

Tregorran, FFS!

PrincessFiorimonde · 04/01/2021 23:07

Delurking just to chortle at your autocorrect, MaryLee Grin

PoulePouletteEternellement · 05/01/2021 09:14

Happy New Spoiler-y Year - particularly to those of you not on the other thread!

And thanks for the updates, Asking, (and anyone else more public spirited than I am.)

I'm completely assuming that Kirsty's 'truth' will not be anything listeners don't already know??
