After last week's episodes Elizabeth is almost certainly going to go on a date with Vince now that he's found out that she is widowed.
I would like to think that Freddie and Lily could pretend that Lizzie prefers younger men (Russ) to confuse matters.

It would be good for her to have a partner. I'd forgotten about Fairbrother senior (that would be fabulous and would annoy Jill no end), or perhaps one of the Gills.

"The rewilders get good news" fills me with dread. I expect their fields have been full of dogwalkers since lockdown.

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2020 12:14

Shall we nit pick Mike he's a free man. Or is TA like the royals, and not approve of marriage or dating with a DIVORCE` !!!!! fgs.

MollyButton · 19/10/2020 15:31

Lizzie has already been there and done that with Fairbrother senior -in fact he dumped her when his wife was pregnant with Rex.

MikeUniformMike · 19/10/2020 18:26

Not nitpicking, he is a single man and there would be something amusing in him and Elizabeth meeting for a date, but I rather liked the idea of her and young Rex hitting it off.

I can't imagine thinking of Shula or Jill as a spinster or Jim or Oliver as a bachelor.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/10/2020 22:23

IU think Vince Casey is divorced, anyhow. More than once.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2020 10:20

Sorry Mike I was in an odd mood yesterday morning Grin Though silly me Blush Al is Lizzie's ex brother in law (which I admit I had forgotten Blush ) . Though I suppose there's no law against them getting together. NOT VINCE pleeeease !!!!!!

Madcats · 20/10/2020 11:28

Apologies for being dense, but did Vince set up a fake profile on Tinder to get a date with Lizzie and then conveniently find himself at the bar just when "fake Vince" was supposed to be meeting Lizzie?

I always had the impression that Vince lived quite a few miles away from Ambridge/Borchester (Birmingham suburb maybe?).

Very irresponsible SL; not only did Lizzie plan to meet a complete stranger without letting anybody know where, but she also drove(?) home rather drunk.

We deserve better than this!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/10/2020 13:34

Madcats, I really agree. All of this.

I assume Vince had made the date he then stood her up for. And I don't think he is a local, though I suppose these days people do just turn out to be when they have not been around at any time during the past fifty years: Philip Moss didn't exist until 2017, and now seems to be regarded as having been in Ambridge area since forever, for instance.

The stranger-danger and drunk driving you're totally right about.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2020 14:42

Well the twin's will LOVE Uncle Vince. Lizzie's naive.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 20/10/2020 14:54

I'm willing to believe the writers trust their mature and sensible audience to assume Elizabeth informed an unheard friend of her whereabouts and took a cab in both directions.

Vince Cable dating skulduggery is certainly an interesting possibility ...

MikeUniformMike · 20/10/2020 17:32

@ppeatfruit, no worries. I'm in an odd mood most of the time.

The thing with the Royals, is that divorcees usually ...

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/10/2020 18:29

I am not sure the royals themselves are that bothered one way or the other about divorced people as spouses, but the Church of England gets aw'fly ratty about any of them marrying a divorcee. There has been no particular fuss made by the royal family about the last two, and it was definitely the church and the house of commons who prevented the marriage of Princess Margaret to Peter Townsend, and forced Edward VII off the throne when he insisted on marrying Wallis Simpson.

That was a VERY long time ago. And in the case of Wallis Simpson not only wasn't she actually divorced (for the second time) when marriage was first talked about, but there are lots of other reasons why she was considered unsuitable.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/10/2020 22:42

Like I said, I don't think the family are that bothered about marriage to a divorcee, so I'm not sure why they get blamed for other people calling in precedent and law at them and making their lives difficult.

ppeatfruit · 21/10/2020 09:17

ummm....... I was taking the pee, Grin not serious for one second about the Royals. As I said upthread I was in a strange mood when I posted that.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 26th - 29th October 2020
The Brookfield siblings are both fighting to have their opinion heard, so expect a rowdy old week of it. Ben wants things his own way and just won’t take no for an answer, despite Ruth’s concerns. Pip, meanwhile, is getting herself in trouble with the Fairbrother boys.
All credit to Freddie for tackling the Christmas show, but there’s more at stake than he realises, which may leave some wondering if he’ll be able to pull it off.
And Susan finds comfort in the company of her daughter-in-law Alice, but the encounter could leave Alice with more questions than answers. And will she be in any mood to listen when Jennifer, too, offers advice?

##############################
"Elizabeth takes revenge" is a go-to of hers, but the question is against whom? Probably Freddie I suppose, if she's her usual self, though she might atypically pick on Lily for once.

MikeUniformMike · 23/10/2020 15:33

I'm Hmm

Isn't it Friday the 23rd today?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2020 15:38

It is. I got the wrong the one-liners. Sorry.

BBC One-Liners
26 Oct Pip finds herself in an awkward spot and Ben unleashes his master plan.
27 Oct Alice offers a helping hand and Lily has concerns.
28 Oct Ben puts his foot in it and Jennifer offers some pearls of wisdom.
29 Oct Tempers fray at Rickyard and Ruth faces the consequences of Ben’s actions.

#####################
Makes more sense of the revenge: she was taking it on both her children. Such a sweet woman....

Ooh, that's better. Thanks Asking.
No shocks this coming week then? No Mosses.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2020 17:04

It's your day for pointing out my mistakes. Please don't stop doing that!

MikeUniformMike · 23/10/2020 17:07

I'm in a strange mood today. Woke up far too early and too tired to do much. Not nitpicking, just bleary and thinking what day of the week is it.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2020 17:10

I don;t think pointing out where I have made a stupid mistake so that IU can correct it is nit-picking, if that helps. I'd rather have been stupid than go on being it, every time.

MikeUniformMike · 23/10/2020 17:41

You are definitely not stupid Asking. It is me who is stupid - I have so little in my life that I look forward to the spoilers.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2020 18:29

It was a stupid mistake, though. And I didn't check before posting... So please do keep right on telling me if I get it wrong, ok? There's no point in them at all if they are for the week just past and not actually spoilers.
