Radio Times Ambridge Diary 21st-24th September 2020
Incorrigible meddler Susan looks set to land Philip in hot water, but will Kirsty believe his story after he’s forced to think on his feet? And how will Gavin react as he’s further embroiled in the deceit?
Susan is also finding that her relationship with one member of the family is souring. Can differences be put aside?
There’s friction, too, between Lynda and Robert, who are at odds over the Flower and Produce Show. But the competition might just be the thing to get their marriage back on track.
Elsewhere, the prospect of a decision is leaving Alice preoccupied. But as Chris frets that all is not well with his wife, will she tell him the truth?

ppeatfruit · 19/09/2020 14:58

Thanks Asking Annoyingly Chris and his sister know the truth. He's in that large river in Egypt !.

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/09/2020 15:32

@ppeatfruit

Thanks Asking Annoyingly Chris and his sister know the truth. He's in that large river in Egypt !.
But there's the other 'truth' as well isn't there?

Babies are never planned in soap operas, and they usually arrive at Christmas/New Year or Easter.
A single ONS is all it takes, unless you are happily married and hoping to start a family.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/09/2020 18:44

I'm glad you said that last bit! Debbie, Kate and Alice were all planned, and so were Pip, Josh and Ben. John and Helen too, though not Tom. And Roy. And Christopher, though not Emma.

The only Christmas baby in TA that I can think of is Debbie, but there must be others! And Henry was just after New Year.

MikeUniformMike · 19/09/2020 18:54

Christmas and New Year I bundled together, and was referring to soaps in general.

Rosie wasn't planned, nor Adam, or Phroebe.
George wasn't, nor Will.
Henry was a miracle, Jack unplanned.
Ruairi wan't planned by both parents.
Abi was planned but the parents needed Lord Winston's help.
Bethany wasn't planned

MikeUniformMike · 19/09/2020 18:55

Jamie Perks wasn't planned.
Baby Dander was planned but again, a bit of a miracle.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/09/2020 19:11

I think Abi's conception was standard and she was very much planned, but Hayley had to have her tubes unblocked or something.

MikeUniformMike · 19/09/2020 19:28

That's right. As guest appearances go, it was one of the better ones. I thought that Mrs Charles was ok too.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/09/2020 19:59

I remember the annoyance that because Roy already had a child, Hayley couldn't apply for fertilisation treatment from the NHS: it seemed somehow very unfair on her.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/09/2020 08:24

Frilly was planned and IIRC we more or less heard the moment of conception on air. Shock Was that the episode where Julia was using a tape recorder or dictaphone to dictate her memoirs for Susan to type up and it remained switched on while Nigel and Elizabeth had a quickie, to Susan's discomfiture? Or was the conception down by the lake? I think it was one of the two.

Daniel Hebden-Lloyd was another miracle, of course. Richard Locke made sure Shula's IVF hormone injections continued after Mark's death. I found that very touching, actually. (Of course, later Richard was touching Shula in a different way, but we'll pass over that.)

Oops, forgot to say thanks to Asking for the spoilers!

ppeatfruit · 20/09/2020 12:58

Yes Captain I only just heard it on the omnibus!!!! If Alice did know she's upduffed she certainly should've been laying off the booze, otherwise Brian's 2nd grandchild might be born with problems (possibly major ones).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/09/2020 14:28

Not his second one: Kate is Brian's daughter, and she has three children.

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2020 09:54

Silly me Blush I also remembered that Adam isn't his bio son either so Xander isn't his anyway. Oh and JD has something to do with their progeny too! (I'm trying to remember if we've heard from her during the lockdown).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/09/2020 11:37

Nope, Jennifer hasn't spoken since April except in repeats.

Madcats · 21/09/2020 13:33

I suppose there are reasons aplenty for an actor not being in a moanalogue. Things like living on a main road or near a fire/ambulance station might complicate things - as would noisy pets and non existent broadband. Maybe the Editor has long-term plans that set out who needs to be booked for the subsequent 6 months or maybe the budget only ran to a dozen bits of recording kit.

In the case of Shula, maybe they just weren't sure what a trainee vicar would be up to in a pandemic or they didn't think we could stomach listening to her muddled inner thoughts.

Looking at the spoilers for this week, is the counsellor going to be for Alice (in which case, is it for alcohol or an abortion) or the Snells?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/09/2020 22:37

Late this week; it's been busy.

BBC one-liners

29 Sep Philip finds himself in hot water and Lilian makes amends.
30 Sep Lynda has a shocking suggestion and Lilian inadvertently makes things worse.
01 Oct Fallon has a dilemma on her hands and Jazzer attempts to turn a situation to his advantage.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 28th September - 1st October 2020
Jolene is struggling with her campaign to promote The Bull. Might the “naughty milkman” she’s hired not actually be naughty enough? Thankfully, such concerns seem trivial after she hears some hot gossip from Elizabeth, who may well be getting herself in too deep …
Lilian feels guilty about her confrontation with Lynda and fears the worst when she’s summoned to the B&B. But might the two frenemies finally bury the hatchet?
Gavin falls on his sword to save Philip. Jazzer attempts to manipulate others for his own gain. And Alice is weighed down by her secret and reaches out to an unexpected person, but the advice she receives might result in tragedy.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 28th September - 1st October 2020
Uneasy heads lie on the pillows of Ambridge, and many a villager stares up at the ceiling, all hope of sleep gone.
Alice is one of these restless souls. Weighed down by the burden of her secret, she is desperate for support.
Jolene’s nights are disturbed by her fears that her ‘naughty milkman’ might turn out to be a milksop, while Lilian’s nights are ravaged are by feelings of guilt over her behaviour towards Lynda.
Fallon has her own emotional dilemma to deal with, but all the torments of these Ambidgers are nothing compared to Philip’s nightmares as the net starts to close in …

@ppeatfruit

Silly me Blush I also remembered that Adam isn't his bio son either so Xander isn't his anyway. Oh and JD has something to do with their progeny too! (I'm trying to remember if we've heard from her during the lockdown).
Doesn't matter (except in terms of plot) that Xander isn't related to Brian. As regards the story the important thing is that, through Jenny, as you said, he's an Archer.
ppeatfruit · 27/09/2020 08:33

Thanks Asking a lot more action as you say, it is improving ! Though maybe a bit too dramatic. For me of course!!

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 27/09/2020 08:38

Oh. What happened to my post? Did I fall asleep?

It would have said - "Thanks, Asking. Star So many people. Really getting back into the swing of things."

MikeUniformMike · 27/09/2020 10:57

Thanks Asking. More hot water this week, and a shocking suggestion.
Tragedy?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/09/2020 11:51

Thanks, Asking! That's the biggest cast list for months. Gavin falls on his sword to save Philip? Why, I wonder. Philip is a psychopath, I've concluded, and I don't think he'd reciprocate. Those conversations about 'selling' Blake - how he's damaged so they won't get as much for him - horrendous.

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 27/09/2020 13:54

Tragedy: I think that Alice hits the booze and ends up miscarrying the chrysalis.
Hot water: Accidentally trips into Joy's new malfunctioning sex pond.

ppeatfruit · 28/09/2020 09:49

Gasp yes I'm inclined to agree about Philip and telling Gav. to leave Alice in the road. Shock BUT would Kirstie not have noticed?

Pardon Mike? I haven't heard about Joy's new what???? Grin

Did anyone hear the 'trailer' on R4 after the omnibus ? They're so desperate for new listeners. They're turning into ITV.
