I've just recently started listening to podcast and have found some amazing true crime ones - so far I have listened to Shreds, Serial, The Teachers Pet and The Clearing.

Was wondering if any one could recommend any along the same lines as these ones?

Thanks

@insanepizza

Oh thank you for those. Just finished both seasons of 'In the Dark' which I couldn't recommend more highly, on a par with Serial.

I listened to Murder Most Foul which was also good.

Have had the following recommended but not listened to yet:

Slow burn
Missing Crypto queen
The drop out
Limetown

Ahhh thanks so much!! I listened to Serial S1 which was the most Amazing thing ever! (& my first podcast ever). S2 I found rubbish & S3 mehhh; I was so disappointed & have been looking for something similar ever since! -- it's been over a year and haven't found anything yet. Tried Atlanta Monster & S-Town after reccs, but found them sooo dull too ConfusedBlush😔

Just started In the Dark & it's great already! Thanks! SmileSmile

Phoebe's fall is an Australian one that is also good

HelloMist · 04/02/2021 16:53

Someone Knows Something: Canadian true crime, each series covers a different crime/cold case. Some are still unsolved but it's a good listen. (They update if any more is found).

Tigresswoods · 04/02/2021 22:52

Am I the only person listening to Bad People on BBC sounds? Compelling!

Maremaremare · 05/02/2021 22:06

@becks5109 - I just listened to Phoebe's Fall and then did some googling... after Phoebe the boyfriend married/divorced another woman, then he had another girlfriend and she committed suicide in mysterious circumstances too! Unbelievable!

notsosmoothie · 07/02/2021 15:51

Live and Die in L.A is amazing – it's recorded real-time as they investigate and had me hooked.

notsosmoothie · 07/02/2021 15:55

Ooh - also The Apology Line – about a guy in the 80s who set up a phone-based interactive art project and wound up developing a kind of platonic romance with a self-professed serial killer who called the line.

The podcast is narrated by his wife...

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 12/02/2021 19:18

Another vote for Crime Junkie.

Small Town Dicks is excellent, despite the terrible name.

I used to love My Favorite Murder, but it's got really self-indulgent now, and one of the presenters is always drunk.

Mammyloveswine · 18/02/2021 14:59

They walk among us is amazing!!! I've binged it all since November!

Real Crime Profile - excellent podcast, they’ve covered so many cases and go into forensic detail as well as behavioural analysis. Presented by an ex-FBI profiler (Jim Clemente) and ex-Scotland Yard criminal behaviour analyst Laura Richards, alongside Lisa Zambetti who is a casting director and acts as the listeners voice in asking questions.

Crime Analyst - Laura Richards’ own podcast. She’s excellent at deep diving cases and going into minute detail. She has a real focus on centering the victim and speaking out on violence against women and coercive control.

Crime junkie and murder squad, two separate things

Planesmistakenforstars · 11/12/2021 13:55

The ones I've really enjoyed, and which follow one case in a seralised way are:

Your Own Backyard
In The Dark (both seasons)
The Accused (season 1 is amazing)
Someone Knows Something (some seasons better than others)
Strangler
The WVU Co-ed Murders (part of Appalation Mysteria)
Broken Harts
Bowraville
Lost in Larrimah
A Killing on The Cape
Black Hands
Finding Cleo
Sweet Bobby
Gone South (ongoing)

Rivermonsters · 30/12/2021 00:12

Case file, milehigher podcast and Brohio

PumpkinCrumble · 25/01/2022 18:35

I really enjoyed Root of Evil about the Hodel family and their link to The Black Dahlia murder…

I heard about it on Redhanded podcast, so would also recommend that one too!

TheOriginalClownfish · 02/06/2022 15:19

Another vote for Redhanded. It got me through a very dull long winter commute. I also enjoyed the Root of Evil and another excellent series was Believe Her by Lemonada media.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 24/07/2022 14:50

Crime Weekly is good and very engaging, and the hosts are good. It's American. Seeing Red is also good, British, and the hosts are pretty reasonable too.

DulciUke · 25/07/2022 01:17

The Piketon Massacre and The Man in the Window are both good. The accused killers in Piketon are now making their way through the court system. The whole case is disturbing. Man in the Window is about the Golden State Killer.

VeganGordie · 09/09/2022 11:48

Honestly, true crime podcasts are not for the faint-hearted, you have to be thick skinned to enjoy these. Some of the stories are horrednous!

eish · 24/09/2022 10:25

Hoaxed created by tortoise media. Very good (three episodes so far with more being released, one for free if you haven't subscribed to tortoise media). Please note this contains child sexual abuse claims so it is not for all. It is a truly unbelievable story.

onlylarkin · 24/09/2022 18:25

I just finished season 1 and 2 of Unraveled on Spotify. Very good.

MrsBirkett · 29/10/2022 13:42

Bible John: creation of a serial killer is a new podcast on BBC Sounds. It's about the Bible John killings in Glasgow in the late 60s but focusing on the women who died rather than the killer. Its fascinating and very respectful to the women and their families.

PrettyUpMyPorch · 29/10/2022 17:37

Your Own Backyard (Kristen Smart disappearance)

Shandee's Story (starts off about a murder but turns into a much bigger scandal)... this is by Hedley Thomas who did the Teacher's Pet podcast

Speaking of which, there is a new follow-up to the Teacher's Pet called "the Teacher's Trial"

Smoking Gun is also good, but is individual episodes about historic crimes rather than a deep dive series
