I've just recently started listening to podcast and have found some amazing true crime ones - so far I have listened to Shreds, Serial, The Teachers Pet and The Clearing.

Was wondering if any one could recommend any along the same lines as these ones?

Thanks

Oh thank you for those. Just finished both seasons of 'In the Dark' which I couldn't recommend more highly, on a par with Serial.

I listened to Murder Most Foul which was also good.

Have had the following recommended but not listened to yet:

Slow burn
Missing Crypto queen
The drop out
Limetown

UK True Crime Podcast is my favourite. I've just finished listening to Unheard: The Fred & Rose West Tapes aswell which is well worth a listen!

Cold - the story of Susan Powell. Brilliant but very sad.

insanepizza · 25/01/2020 20:32

I have just finished Cold, good but not quite as good as in the dark or serial. Very sad story though. Particularly as all the main characters were such prolific journal writers which makes it quite unique.

There are so many good ones. However, it's a bit tough listening to True Crime at the moment.?

tobee · 28/03/2020 23:27

Sorry rouge question mark

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 16/04/2020 16:31

Unheard the fred and rose west tapes was very well told.

Crime Writers On is a very good way of discovering new podcasts - they review 2 each week

Ear Hustle is amazing, start at the beginning of season 1 so you can hear the stories evolve

Bear Brook is good

Gangster Capitalism is good and “lighter crime” than some of the murder ones

DulciUke · 14/05/2020 21:28

Down the Hill, which is about the Delphi murders.

Poshmilana · 21/05/2020 13:55

Sword and scale is by far the darkest podcast, lots of police interrogations and recordings, simply fantastic

notacooldad · 23/05/2020 00:19

I listen to
CaseFile The voice is very monotone but it is no frills and tells the story as it is
Hunting Warhead is a huge story about a case involving the Dark Web. It's about 6 episodes long.
The Nobody Zone is another 6 episode show that is really intruiging
MensRea is great. It is hosted by Sinead and about Irish Crime
They walk amongst us is great, hosted by Benjamin Fitton and is UK crime
Serial killers has two hosts and is good.
I am currently listening to Family Secrets which is about … yeah you guessed it.
People have mention Untold- fred and Rose West. That one is very indepth.
Nordic True Crime is good but you do need to get used to the accent ( not a criticism, she speaks better English than I do Nordic!)
Minds of Madness is worth a listen to as well.
The mysterious Mr Epstein is worth a listen. Definitely proves money talks!

I love podcasts!

Small Town Murder - I like it because its standalone episodes and also James spends alot of time researching each specific town the murder takes place in a d it's really fascinating to hear about how US small towns all vary so much - and the murders don't just happen in "less well off" towns either. And the most recent one I heard was a murder in Buckinghamshire, UK.

I spent yesterday listening to the one about Kathleen Peterson in Durham,N.C., who was found dead at the foot of her stairs.Did she fall, did her husband kill her, or....was she the victim of an owl atttack?Grin

The Podcast is certainly better than the Netflix series, which didn't even mention the owl.

I second many of those already listed, and would add:

The Dating Game Killer
Death In Ice Valley
Generation Why
Man In The Window: The Golden State Killer

Somebody upthread mentioned Down the Hill. Just listening now. Appalling and fascinating in equal measure.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 25/10/2020 16:58

I found a new one! Its called unfinished. It seems as though Ive started at s2 which is called Short Creek which is about the fundamentalist lds church in southern utah. The prophet was jailed a few years back for having 60 wives some of them children. Its got the same feel as serial and s town.

EwDavid · 01/11/2020 15:42

S-Town! It's absolutely brilliant, so twisty and unpredictable. Totally gripping.

At the moment I'm listening to Park Predators, Anatomy of Murder and dipping in and out of Casefile. Some of the multi episode Casefile stories are among the best I've listened to for the sheer amount of information and depth they go into.

AliceAforethought · 03/11/2020 21:47

I like Casefile, They Walk Among Us, Serial, Worse Than Fiction, In the Dark

  • Up & Vanished Season 1 (takes a while to get into it because of all the names/ accents, but well worth it... also, you have to trawl through the following season (which I couldn't get into) to find the updates for Season 1). Don't google or you will spoil it for yourself!
  • Dr Death
  • Dirty John
  • The Shrink Next Door
  • The Lady Vanishes (fast forward bits when you can sense they're going down a rabbit hole, eg: cults)
  • The Night Driver (this is a new one by Hedley Thomas who did The Teacher's Pet)
  • Who the Hell is Hamish
  • Monster: DC Sniper
  • Believed (the Larry Nassar gymnastics scandal)
  • Winds of Change (about the CIA / downfall of Soviet Union)
Maremaremare · 08/11/2020 20:23

Also,

  • Unfinished: Short Creek
  • Unfinished: Deep South
Fredelliottisayfredelliott · 22/11/2020 18:15

Crime junkie is excellent and my absolute favourite podcast. Its very well laid out and straight to the point. I find some podcasts are a bit too rambling and all over the place. I've recently started the vanished too which I'm enjoying though it's not as good as crime junkie.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 22/12/2020 10:05

Redhanded is brilliant, as is Sinisterhood. Also You’re Wrong About. The presenters have a very genuine relationship and are very funny.

Also really recommend Shreds, which is about the Cardiff three.

Velvian · 16/01/2021 15:18

Good thread.
Finding Kevin Parle is good, but stops at Lockdown
Where is George Gibney
The Doorstep Murder
The Strange Death of Innes Ewart
What Happened to Annie.

I've just finished the Night Driver. It wasn't as good as The Teacher's Pet, but still a good listen. There are quite a few Aussie true crime ones on Spotify.
