Well hasn’t it been a fun few years! Thank you all for supporting the threads and sharing in love and critique of The Archers.

Apparently Women’s Hour are doing ketamine tomorrow

Sounds fun! Wink

5000FlapjacksofJillArcher · 18/03/2019 11:41

Bucking yes, interesting that the reaction was general family dismay at the lack of flapjacks on tap. They don't much like it when Jill steps out of her predestined role, it seems.

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2019 11:54

If the shunting Pat and Tony off to a bungalow was just a drunken speculation then how come Tom mentioned it to Helen a week later?

thislido · 18/03/2019 12:03

Well I’m hoping that’s how the programme will pan out Grin

JazzerMcJazzer · 18/03/2019 12:11

Yes, has Pat never heard of in vino veritas?
Tom got off far too lightly when she challenged him, he absolutely 100% was not thinking remotely about his sister when he hatched the plan. And all his “oh it’s just nerves about calving”. He’s such an un-perceptive idiot. Here’s hoping Natasha gets to know Helen, Pat and Tony properly over time and points out all the stuff that Tom is missing. Glad that he told Pat that Natasha had turn him off a strip though.

birdsdestiny · 18/03/2019 12:12

I saw Jenni Murray doing her one woman show the other month, she was very funny and could talk for England, however I felt on occasion she was resolutely biting her tongue ( Bbc gender pay gap), perhaps the ketamine will help her out.

Motoko · 18/03/2019 12:48

The thing is, when Tom told Helen about the plans, he didn't mention that Natasha had pointed out the flaw in it, so she must have gone along with it at the time. It was only after, that she thought about Helen.

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2019 12:52

If I was Natasha I would be properly incandescent with Tom. Like properly. He’s done several close to unforgivable things already, and they’ve on,y been married a week!

JazzersMaw · 18/03/2019 15:49

I feel there should now be a pun about Jazzer and horse medicine. I jist hope the WM team have mare fun than usual doing ketamine tomorrow. Sorry, not very good. Grin I for one am pleased Jazzer‘s made a good recovery from his dabbling in drugs.

Otherwise, nothing to say really. I agree with most of you above and canna be to say otherwise.

JazzersMaw · 18/03/2019 15:50

But I await story developments with interest .....

GabrielleNelson · 18/03/2019 16:19

Going back to the trousers, it's been a long time since my children were primary school age but I do seem to recall that by the time they'd outgrown their trousers the knees were in a sorry state, so turning them into shorts is a good wheeze. I can't sew so it wasn't an option open to me, sadly.

KateMadikane · 18/03/2019 17:51

Behind with my listening but have just heard Thursday’s episode and wanted to give a massive BOOP for Emma and Mia.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 18/03/2019 18:49

Me too @KateMadikane and I really liked Natasha’s character coming through in the newlywed’s row. She was absolutely right. I think she’s going to a great addition to the clan.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 18/03/2019 18:58

About the recycled story lines, yes, yes, yes.
But annoyingly there are stories that never really feature. For example no serious illness, mental health aside, since Ruth’s breast cancer, and Jack’s dementia.
But don’t get me started on the lack of reference to TB. My farming family is obsessed, for good reason, with TB and effect it has on them their business and their neighbours.
Constant fear that they’ll get a reactor and not be able to sell or move any cattle, for ages, and that’s aside from the cull that goes with it.

Motoko · 18/03/2019 19:21

Pat charging in guessing why Helen's been off, and talking over her. People in TA all seem to have that affliction. It's such a drama trope, and really tiresome.

And Helen stopping Henry from going to karate, and using him kicking Johnny as a handy excuse to explain why.

I'm really getting bored of her storyline, and have lost any sympathy I had for her now.

You'd have thought Russ would be all for Lily getting a job to bring in some money. It takes the heat off him having to go out to work.

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2019 19:30

“But don’t get me started on the lack of reference to TB”

They had TB at Brookfield-there were loads of episodes with people waiting to see if there were any reactors.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 18/03/2019 19:34

When about was that BertrandRussell ? I can’t recall anything aside from the badger killing story years ago.

chemenger · 18/03/2019 19:36

Serious illness - Nick died is sepsis last year. Tony was very il too, was it an accident or an illness I can’t remember.
TB - long series of reactors at Brookfield, that’s why David killed the badger, isn’t it?

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 18/03/2019 19:42

I think Russ is angry that Lily is getting a job precisely because it shows up what a workshy waste of space he is.

LassOfFyvie · 18/03/2019 19:43

I'm really getting bored of her storyline, and have lost any sympathy I had for her now

Me too. And Elizabeth isn't far behind in "I'm bored of you stakes".

LassOfFyvie · 18/03/2019 19:46

Helen if you're going to go round with a face that would sour milk people are going to ask if you are ok. You were very rude to Johnny.

I hear Henwee is back to being 3 years old again.

LassOfFyvie · 18/03/2019 19:49

And Elizabeth you could try stopping feeling sorry for yourself too. That was a lovely gesture from Johnny and you were pretty rude too.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 18/03/2019 20:52

What I meant was @chemenger those were sudden accidents not a build up of symptoms and treatment, with all the anxiety that goes with it.
But the thing about TB is that it’s never mentioned these days perhaps they’ve relocated Borsethire to a low risk area, along with all the extra rooms that can get added to Ambridge houses? www.gov.uk/guidance/bovine-tb-testing-intervals-2018
And whatever happened to the Cat and Fiddle?

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2019 20:56

“And Elizabeth you could try stopping feeling sorry for yourself too. ”
Yep. So easy for a person with depression to do.

LassOfFyvie · 18/03/2019 21:16

Depression doesn't excuse her rudeness.
