Well hasn’t it been a fun few years! Thank you all for supporting the threads and sharing in love and critique of The Archers.

Yes, but then we heard they had made it, and I realised that they were late purely due to a plot device blocking the M5.

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 09/03/2019 17:23

Just looked up the Archers website and Pat IS Pat Archer. So why is she affecting to be so taken aback by Natasha's decision to take Tom's name?

DavidDavidDavid · 09/03/2019 17:29

Wasn't it a combination of it going against her expectations of the modern independent woman she thought Natasha to be and the sense that as a "Mrs Archer" herself she was being abruptly replaced? (Or maybe that's all in my head).

birdsdestiny · 09/03/2019 17:35

I think it became reality for Pat when she heard the words Mrs Archer. I was so sure something was going to happen at the wedding that I braced myself when Tony and Natasha were in the car as I assumed they were going to crash.

JazzerMcJazzer · 09/03/2019 17:58

I’ve been to two or three Reg office weddings in nice old style rooms with enough space for an aisle of sorts Maw.

Never mind Pat, as a long time listener I personally felt quite bulldozered by the fact that Natasha is already officially an Archer when we barely know her!

GeorgeTheBleeder · 09/03/2019 18:07

Weird, ain't it?

And I've only just realised that Hannah's maybe-baby would also be, is already, an Archer. First Family. Inheritor of all they survey. Rivalling Johnny, Henry, Jack for the next generation of pie ... Shock

GeorgeTheBleeder · 09/03/2019 18:12

And she'll soon pocket a nice fat cheque from Peggy ...

TherapistInATabard · 09/03/2019 18:33

Did anyone else clock what was playing in the Bull after the wedding - ‘One Last Time’ by Ariana Grande. I did wonder if that was a nod to Tom’s two unsuccessful engagements - 3rd time’s the charm and all that! It was a bit of an anticlimax wasn’t it? We’re just too conditioned to drama I reckon, we suspect everyone and everything. Maybe they are just madly in love and perfect for each other, who knows?

Keri Davies said on Twitter that he had to sacrifice cast members in some episodes this week to allow 8 characters in the dinner party one.

HorseradishSnowflake · 09/03/2019 19:16

Listened to the nuptials at 1am when I got in and thought I'd check the thread to see if I missed something! Thought the red wine had dulled the experience but it seems it just was... well, dull!
Natasha is hiding something and Hannah will be the only one who sees it, but can't speak out for fear of it looking like sour apples ( see what I did there?!)

KingscoteStaff · 09/03/2019 19:47

Just heard Mary Wimbush in an old Poirot on 4Extra. Recognised her voice in 2 words!

DavidDavidDavid · 09/03/2019 20:13

but can't speak out for fear of it looking like sour apples ( see what I did there?!)

You mean it will be some juicy gossip. Smile

HorseradishSnowflake · 09/03/2019 20:20

@DavidDavidDavid

All a bit seedy if you ask me

GabrielleNelson · 09/03/2019 20:35

Perhaps Natasha will turn out to be a stalker? Hannah will get to the core of the matter - the juicy bits.

Grin
HorseradishSnowflake · 09/03/2019 20:41

GrinPuns flowing so organically.

DavidDavidDavid · 09/03/2019 21:10

Gabrielle - I already pipped you to the post with a pun on juicy.

GreyGables · 10/03/2019 07:25

Maybe Hannah will spill the in-cider knowledge?

Long time lurker & occasional poster- loving 100 threads! Thanks DDD for the new icon suggestions.

justAnotherSilent · 10/03/2019 08:39

Long time lurker popping in to the 100th thread.
Keeping fingers crossed for the badger bunting emoji.

jennystangine · 10/03/2019 10:19

Congratulations for reaching 100 threads! 🎉
Always a pleasure to read.
To quote Pat 'is love enough?' hmm... I'd say no.

greenelephantscarf · 10/03/2019 10:23

yay for the 100th thread!

these threads were the reason I started listening to the archers in the first place around 3 years ago.

KingscoteStaff · 10/03/2019 13:39

I think continuity announcers should always sing after the film.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 10/03/2019 13:54

I loved the singing continuity announcer this morning! It brightened up a dull wedding. The whole Tony and Natasha being late thing was so contrived, and I agree it would have been good to know a bit more about what her parents think.
But I suspect this marriage will last, but Natasha will needle Pat and Tony, and Helen, and the lovely Jonny will have to mediate between them all.

StillDumDeDumming · 10/03/2019 14:48

My fella sings a summary of the episode to the closing theme tune. Sometimes a bit sweary if someone has behaved badly #he’sakeeper

impostersyndrome · 10/03/2019 15:09

Ooh what was the singing Kingscote? I always listen to the podcast, so I miss out on that fun aspect of listening live.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 10/03/2019 15:32

@stilldumdedumming you’re not joking! You are blessed.
Sometimes my DH and I attempt a sort of Morris-men style dance to the theme tune. Blush

TheSilveryHildaOgden · 10/03/2019 15:40

Still, that's brilliant! I think I might try it myself.

I also want to know about the singin continuity announcer...
