Thanks to witchmountain for the last thread and to dadx3 for Godfathering them! Also to any other posters whose ideas I have borrowed for the title.

For me, the story line has been consistent with Pat and Tony, and family. Tony always a little insecure , Pat always a little brittle. Helen insecure, but well liked locally. Like Pat and Tony in that.

FlosCampi · 27/11/2018 20:11

Was Hannah not a bad 'un then after all? When she undermined Neil about the pig lorries going off half full? Or was she covering her back? Somebody knowledgeable tell me what to think please!

onthenaughtystepagain · 27/11/2018 20:44

I’m afraid I’ve seen off at least 3 pheasants this season. ( live near a shoot)

I brought one home stuck in the bumper behind the number plate, I had to have the bumper put back at the garage, it had flipped out slightly. They're totally kamikaze here, same as the young deer, they can do a lot of damage.

LillianGish · 27/11/2018 20:53

I thought Hannah was covering her back Flos - trying to bamboozle Neil. who knows what she told Justin - it's easy enough to pull the wool over his eyes anyway as Knob did with Charlie. In fact for a supposedly big-shot businessman Justin strikes me as pretty clueless and a poor judge of character.

onthenaughtystepagain · 27/11/2018 20:53

I'm definitely 'of that age', and then some, but the nearest I come to 'putting his clothes out' is when I say 'Are you going out like that? Is Stevie Wonder still up stairs' or 'Do your flies up'. I swear I'm stopping saying the latter, he got as far as the church door on Sunday then I chickened out!
My late MIL was appalled that I didn't know his wardrobe, 'Does he need underpants?', I'd no idea.

R4 · 27/11/2018 21:50

That was a fun episode, so much going on!Grin
I love the idea of Neil being "like Poldark standing in my own living room."

cheminotte · 27/11/2018 21:54

I have never heard of cinnamon in a savoury dish before, I’d heard it as going in the pudding. This thread is such a good sauce of culinary tips - someone even posted a recipe for custard once. Wink

PanicwiththeBisto · 27/11/2018 21:56

That episode was full of contenders for next thread’s title.

Not only Neil as Poldark (thanks R4) but “a whiff of Snell” and “Stitch the Bitch”

PanicwiththeBisto · 27/11/2018 21:58

...and Neil, in my mind, looks more like Alan Tichmarsh than Aidan Quinn

LassWiADelicateAir · 27/11/2018 21:58

I have never heard of cinnamon in a savoury dish before

It's very nice in a venison stew.

PanicwiththeBisto · 27/11/2018 21:59

Sorry Aidan Turner!

Travelledtheworld · 27/11/2018 22:03

I often put Cinnamon in Lamb Tagine.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 27/11/2018 22:26

Just popping on to say there have been many images I could do without in the recent episodes!

Although I do love Stitch the Bitch.

Mootsie · 27/11/2018 22:41

So, which bitch will get stitched. Natasha or Hannah?

Take your pick, Susan.

R4 · 27/11/2018 23:02

So, which bitch will get stitched. Natasha or Hannah? Take your pick, Susan.

She wouldn't actually stitch the bitch, would she?Shock
That would be crewel.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 27/11/2018 23:15

Tony and Pat loved Kirsty so I think their disapproval of Natasha is a sign that she's a keeper.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 27/11/2018 23:59

If you can defintely taste the cinnamon, maybe too much in it? I agree that Pat’s cooking is often maligned - in sharp contrast with Jill and Jenny Darling who are constantly feted. Rather old-fashioned character framing really.

Loved Kenton laying it out for Lily as it is.

pattyhoo · 28/11/2018 00:12

'Whiff of Snell' had me tonight!

echt · 28/11/2018 06:37

I thought Kenton played a blinder, forthright and persistent. And where Lily gets the idea her mother supports the relationship after her epic flounce when Elizabeth made an effort to warn her....?

LillianGish · 28/11/2018 07:01

It did sound as though Lily was still smitten though didn't it? Or is she just attempting to justify her decision because she thinks she'll lose face if they split up? I thought Kenton was going going to elicit an admission that she might have been a bit hasty, but it never came. Maybe Lily's ever-extending visit might provoke a massive strop from Russ and that will tip the balance.

EBearhug · 28/11/2018 07:15

I think Lily's more smitten with the idea of Russ and lovers in adversity. Deep down, she knows she'd be better off without him, but she's not ready to admit that to herself, let alone others.

MikeUniformMike · 28/11/2018 08:25

It was a comedy episode. Ugh. Alan Titchmarsh.
Lily will flounce back to Personchester and Wuss. Rotaboy will end up at LoLo.

R4 · 28/11/2018 08:32

Lily knows that things aren't right. When she was chatting to Shula, and Shula was making the "you must be having the time of your life at University" comments, Lily mentioned "we". Shula picked up on it but Lily merely muttered something about her "flatmate" not "Russ, the love of my life". She's still not being honest about the situation, not to the rest of the world nor herself.

glamorousgrandmother · 28/11/2018 10:09

Lily will defend Russ if she feels he is being attacked because it will be perceived as a criticism of her i.e. she made the choice to be with him.

buckingfrolicks · 28/11/2018 10:10

Liliangish damn it I forgot about their son dying - this was before my time so very much myth and legend to me.

Ok I'll make some allowances for their being brittle. (Which sums Pat up to a T.).

Loved last night's episode. Bitches, britches and stitches.
