As Frilly stress Lizzy out, did the SWs forget her heart defect? Will there be long term llama drama karma in The Archers?

PinaGrigio I think I'll have to join you in your drinking game. I have to head to the drinks fridge (in best Home Farm style) pretty much as soon as new Tom opens his mouth, so I'll definitely be having shots of Scruff gin every time Nuffield is mentioned. And everytime David and Ruth are amazed about the sun shining out of Pip's behind....oh and everytime Helen talks about Henwee, and Henwee who is voiced by someone who has only heard a toddler speak...

LillianGish · 10/09/2018 13:56

can anyone recall any previous ‘Northumberland’ stories - there was also the supposed removal of Heatherpet to live at Brookfield which also seemed extremely unfeasible until low and behold she threw in the towel at Trowell. (We stopped at Trowell services on the way back from the North in the summer holidays and I was reminded of this storyline and tried to picture the scene. Even had my mum with me and made sure she accompanied me inside to the loos just in case!)

Do we know for a fact that Russ has told Lara about Lily? Why would he be spending a few days with his parents?

DadDadDad · 10/09/2018 14:22

Why would he be spending a few days with his parents?

He'll probably tell Lily that it's important to stay to connected to the older generation - "it's so common in many cultures to revere our ancestors; they have so much wisdom to impart". Hmm

Or maybe he wanted to walk in the landscape that he grew up in to "stay in touch with his inner child". (I will resist making a tasteless joke here). Confused

R4 · 10/09/2018 14:26

It's strange how, when Lara threw him out, he had nowhere to go and yet now he can spend a few days at "his parents". Allegedly.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 10/09/2018 14:33

Why would he be spending a few days with his parents?
More to the point, why is he not at work? Unless he's already ben suspended.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2018 14:49

If I remember rightly, Rob wasn’t actually physically abusive to Helen,
Well, apart from the rapes, but yes, nothing Henry would have seen iirc.

ppeatfruit · 10/09/2018 14:50

I agree R4 Helen's mothering does leave more than a little to be desired. Nice scene though when Will and her were commiserating about leaving their little ones at school/nursery for the first time.

MrsBertBibby · 10/09/2018 14:56

I am more concerned that Henry has been talking like a 3 year old for the last 5 years.

There's some serious developmental delay there and it can't all be laid at Rob's door.

birdsdestiny · 10/09/2018 17:39

To be fair Henry witnessed an attempted murder, I may live a very sheltered life but I don't know any 6 year olds who have experienced that. That's quite a lot of violence in my book.

DadDadDad · 10/09/2018 17:47

For those who care about such things...

Over the weekend, @KitchenFloor made a call for some stats because @cheminotte thought this thread was moving faster than usual. They were right!

This thread started with posts running around the 30 posts per day mark that it has been averaging over the summer. The past week ramped that up to average 53 posts per day, including I see on Saturday we had 68 posts and strangely on Sunday we had 68 posts again. Weekends are normally a bit quieter.

'Russ and Lily' isn't quite 'Rob and Helen' but it's got us talking. It's also helped to have lurkers come out of the shadows - more, please!

Of course, if you strip out the posts about multi-temperature kettles... Hmm

MVLipwig · 10/09/2018 17:52

As a newly delurked member, the kettles are half the reason I came out of the shadows Grin

C8H10N4O2 · 10/09/2018 18:05

If I remember rightly, Rob wasn’t actually physically abusive to Helen, was he, because the whole point was that it was coercive control not DV.

He raped her and impregnated her against her will.

I recall more than one occasion of him physically controlling her whilst telling her she was overreacting/out of her mind.

cheminotte · 10/09/2018 18:24

Thanks for those stats @DadDadDad !

QuaterMiss · 10/09/2018 19:12

That took them long enough ...

And is that a new Henry???

LassWiADelicateAir · 10/09/2018 19:14

And is that a new Henry???

Yes - and no more convincing than the previous version.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2018 19:17

That took them long enough ...

What was? (Unusually, listening live and DH needed to talk to me about something - important so not a LTB situation)

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2018 19:18

Sorry, I've forgotten the spoiler rules - is it ok to be specific after first airing or not till the repeat?

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 10/09/2018 19:35

Henry being set up as the psychopath of the next generation, I see.

witchmountain · 10/09/2018 19:37

I thought so. If I didn’t want to see something I just wouldn’t open the thread. I think the complaints were about the thread title giving away something because people couldn’t avoid seeing it.

MrsGrindah · 10/09/2018 19:40

Well Helens doing a terrible job of protecting Henry cos she hasn’t noticed that he’s different and is apparently taking drugs...his speech was so slow! I know it’s wrong to hate a child but I really can’t stand him so looking forward to him going off the rails ( as long as it doesn’t mean any more lines)

MrsGrindah · 10/09/2018 19:42

He could join Ben in the cereal cupboard

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2018 19:45

Maybe now Lily is fully recovered from apparently only communicating through the medium of mime, it's time for Henry to acquire elective mutism. He could get over it about the time his voice breaks.

QuaterMiss · 10/09/2018 20:13

Sorry, I've forgotten the spoiler rules - is it ok to be specific after first airing or not till the repeat?

Officially, iirc, it is. But then people complain and everything’s awkward and no-one knows what to say and if we “yes, but ...” then the thread’s called cliquey and ...

Basically Helen had the amazing, never before speculated-upon idea of reintroducing their own dairy herd. Tom stropped. Tony did a little dance of glee. Grin

MikeUniformMike · 10/09/2018 20:23

Good on Helen. If she is so concerned about Henry's welfare, why did she shack up with then marry an abuser?
