And there’s some rubbish about an ex-stripper policeman?

I didn’t realise he was deputy head!Shock
Lizzie is going to do some digging......
Oleaginous, wonderful word, must see how many times I can use it this week.

cheminotte · 26/08/2018 17:17

Interesting theory double teen . I thought the cheese was just Helen’s baby and Susan and Clarrie did the yogurt and ice-cream.

Gruach · 26/08/2018 17:25

I’ve lost track of the chronology but am hoping it is the fault of the bought-in milk. There’s been something lacking at the heart of Bridge Farm since they evicted the proper cows.

Gersemi · 26/08/2018 18:25

I wonder if Natasha is going to advise that they should go into larger scale cheesemaking production, bring back their own cows, forget kefir etc etc?

Gruach · 26/08/2018 19:07
Shock Hmm Confused

Okaaaaaaaaaaay ...

Erm ... Speechless ...

Abra1de · 26/08/2018 19:12

Yeah, right.

That’s just unbelievable.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 26/08/2018 19:14

Ben's exams!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 26/08/2018 19:16

Elizabeth has been through this herself and is trying not to alienate her daughter. Hoping that Lily will work out this thing with Russ for herself.

Who thinks Russ really told his parents?

witchmountain · 26/08/2018 19:19

Bloody hell, Elizabeth must have taken a VERY deep breath when she went to her room.

Abra1de · 26/08/2018 19:21

I think Elizabeth took some of her son’s merchandise.

No way would she not show horror that her still teenage daughter is sleeping with a man in his 40s. If not to Lily herself, then to Shula.

newtlover · 26/08/2018 19:23

no way did Russ tell his parents
and anyway, he's 40, he made it sound like he is 14 and they might ground him

Minimammoth · 26/08/2018 19:23

How long before she finds out he’s married?

newtlover · 26/08/2018 19:24

Lizzy believes what Lily told her, that he is effectively single- and she doesn't now about the 'going to Manchester' plan. So I can see why not making a fuss and waiting for it to die a death seems like a good plan.

Dermymc · 26/08/2018 19:34

All the hocum about her being 18 so it's ok is rubbish too. Position of trust applies until 19/ when students leave. Even then it's heavily frowned upon. Are there any researchers left?!

newtlover · 26/08/2018 19:38

yes I thought that
he will lose his job for sure (in real life anyway)

witchmountain · 26/08/2018 19:38

We had that debate earlier in the thread and there is no legal issue once the student is 18. But almost certainly gross misconduct, contractually.

Abra1de · 26/08/2018 19:39

That’s what happened in the cases I know. But Ross thinks she’s so rich that it doesn’t matter—he can sponge off Lily.

LillianGish · 26/08/2018 19:55

After weeks away over the summer I've finally caught up by listening to several omnibuses and I've concluded that The Archers is much more enjoyable listened to this way - which leaves me with a dilemma as I find this thread is much more satisfactory when dived into after each evening episode.

birdsdestiny · 26/08/2018 19:58

But surely Elizabeth would know that Russ will get sacked and mention that possibility to Lily or Shula.

MereDintofPandiculation · 26/08/2018 21:14

@LillianGish The solution is to do both - dive into this thread after each episode, then actually listen to the omnibus. I find knowledge of what's going to happen doesn't mar the listening in the slightest. (I've just heard Freddie let slip to Lizzie that Lily knew all along).

Downside is that you can't participate in the discussion because you're always out of date with your listening.

R4 · 26/08/2018 21:24

Lizzie said that she would discuss the 'can Russ give a reference?' question with Usha who would, of course, keep it as privileged info. However, is there a chance that Usha will consider it a safeguarding/public interest matter and therefore report.

LillianGish · 26/08/2018 21:45

Downside is that you can't participate in the discussion because you're always out of date with your listening. This is my dilemma - I love this thread more than the actual programme in some ways and much as I've loved my long catch-up I hate not having anyone to discuss it with as I'm now too late to the party.

MereDintofPandiculation · 26/08/2018 21:52

@LillianGish Of course you could always do both. That's quite rewarding. Listen day by day and participate here, then listen to the omnibus and get heightened enjoyment by listening out for all the nuances that you missed first time and someone else pointed out. I've done that way of listening too!

buckingfrolicks · 26/08/2018 22:17

"It's precious and it's forever". Shudder.

And the irony of Lizzie saying Freddie's just a boy really ... but Lily of course is a grown up

LassWiADelicateAir · 26/08/2018 22:20

What a load of tosh.

Oh and of course he hasn't told his parents.

Can Shula get any more annoying?
