Brian is over a barrel, Alice has drained the barrel and Shula has given it to Alistair with both barrels - The Archers is not exactly a barrel of laughs at the moment.

Thanks to @LillianGish for the thread title.

Do we believe Brine? All the skulduggery and sulking recently and now he’s confiding in Adam just like that because Adam caught him at an off moment?

Eastie77 · 04/05/2018 21:05

Only caught the last few minutes but something definitely came across as a bit 'off' about Brian confiding in Adam like that. It seemed very staged. He's up to something.

echt · 04/05/2018 22:24

I don't often shout at the radio but Alistair was a sanctimonious prick in this ep. Appearances?? Poor old Shula on her own??

I think Shula was silly to have him back at the house, as it has mislead others, but still...those are not the appearances he's bothered about. Twat.

As for Brian, still behaving irresponsibly by not involving the rear of the family, then blaming it on them. Either it was bad acting or he was insincere, still up to something.

echt · 04/05/2018 22:25

Rear?? rest. Though he is an arse.

echt · 04/05/2018 22:26

Forgot about the informal rule? about swearing.

EBearhug · 04/05/2018 22:42

What sort of dog has Lynda got?! It sounded like she said a warthog!

Bulldog. I don't get why they're doing a thing about why she's bothered about what a dog looks like. That doesn't really seem like her when it comes to animals.

I think Captain was a bulldog, wasn't he? (Jack Woolley's dog, for those who don't remember that far back.)

Hillfarmer · 04/05/2018 22:52

I didn’t know there was a rule about swearing echt. Oh well.

JessieMcJessie · 04/05/2018 23:04

I think Captain was a bull terrier rather than a bulldog.

echt · 04/05/2018 23:36

Hillfarmer

I saw it mentioned up this thread and was a bit Hmm, but have noticed the non-sweariness.

LassWiADelicateAir · 04/05/2018 23:48

Am I the only person horrified by the "try a new dog and send it back if you don't like it" storyline?

I don't believe Lynda would do this.

C8H10N4O2 · 05/05/2018 00:28

I don't believe Lynda would do this.

I thought it was more a dog sitting activity which by the by allowed sitters to spend time with different types of dog? Isn't each dog there for a set period of time?

I agree I don't really see Lynda doing the "sale or return" model of dog ownership

Eastpoint · 05/05/2018 07:40

One of my friends was interested in adopting a dog from a local animal sanctuary, he cane home with her once for 3 hours and then came back again for another afternoon. She decided he was too young & needed too much training for her (experienced dog owner now in her 70s but dog was v headstrong) and the adoption did not go ahead.

ppeatfruit · 05/05/2018 08:08

jenijena The understatement of the year ….an off moment.. Grin The insurance won't pay up, Brian might have a whopping fine or possible prison.
He's sold Hungary ( I wondered upthread if he was doing that) for under it's value FGS what could be worse.? At least he's got Adam stepping up.

Halsall · 05/05/2018 08:18

As an aside, could Adam's perpetual exhaustion have been any more extreme last night? He could barely summon up the energy to exhale weakly in shock when Brine made his big revelation. Honestly, someone give him a vitamin shot or something. Anything, I don't care, as long as it stops him sounding as though he's at death's door!

TigerTeatimes · 05/05/2018 09:15

Maybe Adam has a thyroid problem Smile

I believe Linda is just dog sitting happily homed doggos. The breed snobbery is out in force though, I suppose we should expect nothing less of Ambridge though.

TigerTeatimes · 05/05/2018 09:16

Doggos lol. My phone talks like my toddler. Blush

JessieMcJessie · 05/05/2018 09:33

ppeat has he sold Hungary? I might have missed an episode, don’t remember that. But DH was quite noisy during last night’s.

DadDadDad · 05/05/2018 09:50

Jessie - it was during last night's episode that Brian revealed he had sold the Hungary share (or at least, that it was just about to go through) - for a lot less than he hoped (implied £750k rather than hoped-for £1m). So the implication is that they have a further £1m+ to find.

I guess the fact that Adam and Brian stopped attacking each other and started focussing on the business problem shows how serious it is.

JessieMcJessie · 05/05/2018 09:55

Ah thanks DDD, I heard something about 750k instead of a million and thought that was about the Home Farm land he had had valued.

Do we know if Debbie knows about the Hungary sale? I doubt it threatens her job but maybe she’d have wanted to raise funds to buy it herself.

LillianGish · 05/05/2018 09:57

I think he was selling Hungary last Friday as I speculated this time last week since it seemed to be the only operation he wouldn’t need family approval for. I wondered at the time if that would mean Debbie coming back though there was no mention of Debbie last night, which is strange as I would have thought Adam’s first question would have been: “What does Debbie think?” I’m more and more thinking that the plots with Brian and Shula (who are married in real life) are a ruse for them to have some time off together. Presumably Adam will now have even less time to think about Lexi and the surrogacy. Re. Lynda and the dogs, I believe she is dog sitting while she contemplates a replacement for Scruff - so not try before you buy more keep your hand in looking after a dog before you commit to getting a new one. I’m sure Lynda will end up with a rescue - possibly an owner of a dog she’s sitting will die or decide they can’t cope with their dog anymore.

ppeatfruit · 05/05/2018 10:24

WE speculated last week Lilian Grin

Sorry Jessie my laptop is playing up ; the little rainbow coloured circle of doom (as ds calls it!) was doing it's thing!! Thanks for replying for me Dx3

cheminotte · 05/05/2018 21:27

Just came to say I am really annoyed at Fallon’s U-turn on marriage!!!

ppeatfruit · 06/05/2018 09:37

Well it's true that non married couples do have more problems financially if they separate. If she thinks Harrison is her 'forever' man then why not? I like a nice wedding me!

birdsdestiny · 06/05/2018 11:49

Just catching up, are we meant to imply from Hannah saying ' he just doesn't know when he is wasting his time' that she is gay or am I making up my own storyline
