Brian is over a barrel, Alice has drained the barrel and Shula has given it to Alistair with both barrels - The Archers is not exactly a barrel of laughs at the moment.

Thanks to @LillianGish for the thread title.

Andrew has parental rights/ responsibility and Will doesn't. Seems simple to me.

ppeatfruit · 02/05/2018 14:35

I was trying to remember if George has had gun tuition from Will? I may not have heard it if he has or is he too young to do clay pigeon shooting ?

GnotherGnu · 02/05/2018 15:23

Will's going to be a horror when Poppy's a teenager, isn't he? He'll be incredibly controlling, and God help any boyfriend who dares ask her out.

Silvertap · 02/05/2018 20:35

Maybe Anisha is away filming line of duty!

polyhymnia · 02/05/2018 22:58

I believe she’s in, or has recently been in, a play at the NT.

ppeatfruit · 03/05/2018 09:57

Gnother Hopefully Wil have met a nice woman to help him with his teenagers by then.

So what are 'smart drugs?' Pills in suits and ties? Grin

CraicMammy · 03/05/2018 18:24

I was thinking about Frilly and I wondered if the SW plan to make Freddie so erm ‘rock n roll’ that he’ll be deemed unsuitable to take charge of LL and trustees (Lizzie and Lily) will take charge. A bit like the Marlboroughs and Blenheim Palace...

ADarkandStormyKnight · 03/05/2018 20:04

I came in to toast Fallon and Harrison. Have you all gone to The Bull without me? Or are you out admiring Shula's new wheels?

EBearhug · 03/05/2018 20:04

I was on my way home from work.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/05/2018 20:06

Aww! Fallison

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/05/2018 20:12

There was an item on the 6 o'clock news tonight that might have been about smart drugs. Apparently some teenagers are buying Xanax tablets, often to help themselves through exams. £1 a tablet. 20 times the strength of benzodiazepam which is what the NHS would prescribe. Schools are reporting a lot of worrying cases of kids staggering about with slurred speech in the middle of the day. If Freddie's involved in something like this TA could be heading for a very topical and very nasty story indeed. Stupid young fool.

Shula reverted to type very rapidly tonight. I don't know how Kenton puts up with her.

TigerTeatimes · 03/05/2018 21:26

When I was a student modafinil was the smart drug of choice, also ritalin. Obviously all a misnomer but how is Xanax meant to be smart exactly? Hmm

ADarkandStormyKnight · 03/05/2018 21:28

Xanax is for anxiety. I don't think it gives you the smarts.

DadDadDad · 03/05/2018 21:38

Shula reverted to type very rapidly tonight.

But I can't even make head or tail what her type is. She tells Alistair that she's seen a solicitor then she's the one who is upset. She believes her relationship is over but then she cringes when her husband sees her test-driving a new car. Does she care about Alistair or not?!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/05/2018 21:41

I doubt it does anything for intelligence, but in that case what sort of drug was Freddie talking about? He denied it was amphetamines, didn't he say it was some other thing that an old fogey like me wouldn't have recognised?

I have the impression that lots of young people self-diagnose themselves with anxiety so maybe that accounts for the problems of Xanax abuse.

Ceinwen2 · 04/05/2018 03:16

Being an amanuensis for anxious GCSE students with physical difficulties in writing has often made me wish I could give them some sort of anxiety -beating pill. They often get so anxious that they change correct answers to wrong ones. If Freddie is as low-esteem-ridden as he seems to be, perhaps a little chemical help is in order.

That was an attempt at humour, by the way.At least the lad is making an effort.

BigGreenOlives · 04/05/2018 06:05

I suspect Ritalin is Freddie’s current drug of choice.

Kenton is so completely clueless isn’t he, mocking Harrison for being responsible & encouraging Shula to buy a car she’d hardly have a chance to use. The £2000 Caroline left her would hardly pay the deposit on a convertible sports car.

ppeatfruit · 04/05/2018 09:49

Aaaah I suspected that Fallon was having a change of heart, A lovely retro village wedding is in order!

Shula has some sense left though Kenton never had much to start with. Grin

Ceinwen2 · 04/05/2018 12:53

re the car Shula was in; I have just bought an elderly MX5 for well under 2000, ,as a second , "fun" car. I used to have one years ago, and missed it. You can get pretty decent MX5s for @ 6 to 10,000 quid. New ones @ 20,000? So her 2000 quid would have made a nice deposit. They are useless for carrying horse kit, though.

ppeatfruit · 04/05/2018 13:06

Talking about Shula, I would 've thought that being MOH , hunting alone, and horse riding gives her plenty of excitement and 'adventures' (all the people I know who ride a lot are always having accidents etc.).

If she's a speed freak .

savagehk · 04/05/2018 14:46

I got the sense Shula wanted to leave Ambridge entirely from that episode. Rather at odds with the previous family/faith/village comment.

Minimammoth · 04/05/2018 16:58

Perhaps Ambridge HAS got a magic money tree. Prizes for where it might be.

LillianGish · 04/05/2018 17:16

PENNY Hasset or on the BANKS of the Am.

R4 · 04/05/2018 19:05

Ambridge used to have its own currency. Presumably now kept in the TEArooms.

Fink · 04/05/2018 19:09

What sort of dog has Lynda got?! It sounded like she said a warthog!
