We never thought we’d feel sorry for Will. Although of course it should have been Pip! Discuss The Archers here (Titled edited by MNHQ)

Welcome all! I was really touched by the potential for Ed and Will to reconcile. But wonder if Will can accept Ed’s support.

As ever, no spoilers here (there’s a thread for that) - discussion permitted as soon as the pm episode is broadcast.

I know a Soo and a Debi. Rooth was the only one I made up. Allis is a surname.
Not being a tool, it's just that Jill Archer is a Jill not a Gill.

Oh, I thought the prickliness of paying a pound was related to your Scottishness. Shock

Francis, l think Y11 in Englandshire relates to S4 in the northern provinces. Does that mean Ben is silently getting on with GCSE work - l just hope he‘s got a good reading light in his cupboard.

Francis - just thinking about sudden deaths in my Scottish family. We have roots in the west of Scotland so plenty of youngish strokes and heart attacks. The only one of mine who got a PM was 59, on a work trip, and collapsed in a hotel. Others were 70 - 74, died at home or after being in hospital for a few hours. No PM. Only my 70 yo father had previously discussed his heart etc with a doctor. No idea why your father had PM. But law in England n Scotland fairly different on this so probably no point in making comparisons.

Re-Nic, presumably her young age and suddenness of death means coroner at least gets medical report to review before agreeing on cause of death.

Does it have a recipe for venison pasty?

DDD, we‘ll have to put you on the outside naughty step, in today’s Scottish weather (we have more snow , only one flake at a time though), wearing sandals (but you are allowed to wear white socks!), no coat. You can have ear muffs though (pink ones). It‘s not too much for making borderline racist quips about Scottish people, is it? Smile

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/03/2018 14:32

Does it have a recipe for venison pasty?

Yes, but no chilli.

BikingBeatrix · 04/03/2018 14:32

Yeah, l hope my 20 years in Embra will help me. But then l‘m sitting knitting and netting rather than putting on several extra layers and taking a bracing walk, so that surely cancels it out. Francis, haven’t you got Polish ancestry? All that meat, only just cancelled out by pots n pots of borscht? We‘re all goners, l tell you.

DadDadDad · 04/03/2018 14:37

I could defend myself by pointing out I am part-Scottish myself, but I was referencing the fine heritage in Scotland of prudent financial management (I can just hear those words in Gordon Brown's voice) - that's why some of the best actuaries have hailed from there.

BikingBeatrix · 04/03/2018 15:07

Grin l was just thinking about Gordon Brown as there‘s a pic in the news and a report that his children‘s school is looking for parents to clear the snow from the doorways by tomorrow. Since the Browns live just round the corner there‘s no excuse. Maybe later there‘ll be a posed photo!

WineAndTiramisu · 04/03/2018 18:33

All deaths in hospital where the patient was admitted less than 24 hours before death are referred to the coroner, however as long as the doctor is confident of cause of death, no post mortem takes place.
In this case, it's unlikely a post mortem would be required.

FrancesCrawford exactly what I'm getting for Mother's Day 😄

Excellent acting there by Edward Kelsey.

MikeUniformMike · 04/03/2018 19:31

Francis - you're making me miss Jazzer, as clearly the Grundys are not providing comic relief at the moment.

Eastpoint · 04/03/2018 20:01

Thank you for the new thread.

D^3 you are in for a treat then when you get a chance to listen to tonight’s episode.

I thought Joe was very sad tonight, really really good lines & well conveyed. I didn’t cry but it might have made me cry if I wasn’t in the middle of cooking dinner.

LassWiADelicateAir · 04/03/2018 21:35

I’m Scottish, D3,so Year 11 parents evening didn’t signal “exams” to me

My favourite hobby-horse. We have Primary 1 starting at age 5cto Primary 7 followed by First Year to Sixth Year Secondary.

I have no idea what "year 11" means.
