We never thought we’d feel sorry for Will. Although of course it should have been Pip! Discuss The Archers here (Titled edited by MNHQ)

Welcome all! I was really touched by the potential for Ed and Will to reconcile. But wonder if Will can accept Ed’s support.

As ever, no spoilers here (there’s a thread for that) - discussion permitted as soon as the pm episode is broadcast.

Isnt it normal to have a PM for a sudden death in a young, healthy woman?

There was one, wasn’t there? Didn’t Clarrie mention it on Friday?

MrsGrindah · 04/03/2018 08:30

Will you indulge my Sunday morning ponder?
Do you think the SWs have deliberately written Pips character that way? That they wanted her to be selfish and come across as one of those people for whom life turns out fine ? Cos I can’t believe they don’t read all our complaints and yet still continue to write such storylines about her. And I wonder if the script notes say things like “ Pip stutters to convey confusion or discomfort “

I thought that was only if they hadn't seen a doctor (in the 2? weeks) before they died. So because Nic was in hospital and they saw the illness developing they wouldn't need one?

Francis - I assume "zero 8 Teresa" is code for "no interest". Smile

MrsGrindah · 04/03/2018 09:28

Fantastic . I’m going to use the phrase “ zero 8 Teresa” at work tomorrow! I’m a civil servant so it would kind of make sense....

Vango · 04/03/2018 09:48

Me too! I’ve got zero 8 Teresa in Home Farm right now. All storylines (Brian/Adam/Alice).

Enjoying (and agreeing with) all your posts this morning Francis (though not sure about PM rules - I would have thought they knew she had sepsis and knew what caused it so no PM necessary). Part of my problem with Pip is that she is given such undue prominence over her brothers by the SW - It feels like they wish she was an only child so they didn’t have to bother with Josh and Ben and have written her as such. No wonder They gave Ruth a miscarriage with number four - I’m surprised they got her pregnant in the first place. Phil and Jill had four children and they are all equally fleshed out. Kenton went quiet when he was out of Ambridge which is fair enough, but Josh and Ben are both living at Brookfield. The fact that Pip is given such prominence makes it all the odder that they play such minor roles (especially Ben). The fact that she is badly acted doesn’t help me to believe in her storylines which are not hugely convincing to start with. The whole pregnancy thing makes my heart sink - there’s no suspense in wondering how she’ll cope because you just know everyone will rally round her including her 87-year-old gran and she will tediously continue to be the Pope of farming (as a pp memorably Christened her in view of her seeming infallibility).

I wondered recently about whether they just don’t bother with teenagers/children in general, and if we were making a fuss about nothing. Then I remembered all the angst about secondary school (Pip/Freddie/Lily) and felt sorry all over again for Josh and his upcoming GCSEs. Sad

Vango · 04/03/2018 10:17

*BEN...I meant BEN.

Though I remember the same complaint about Josh.

I'm just listening to the omnibus, and they said Nic''s death had been referred to the coroner.

This happened with my mother, despite her having been in intensive care for a week and under the doctor for a number of conditions. Coroner wasn't interested in a PM, though.

There are a lot of deaths get referred to the coroner, but they don't all end in a PM.

I wish Jennifer would write a cook book

kungpopanda · 04/03/2018 11:30

@FrancisCrawford

Wanking himself senseless, more like.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/03/2018 11:33

I wish Jennifer would write a cook book

'A dish served cold - favourite desserts from the Home Farm kitchen'

'The language of food'

abitoflight · 04/03/2018 11:38

Thank you 😄
I've not had anything to eat yet and really wanted to try that leek and cheese plait

abitoflight · 04/03/2018 11:45

A bit of googling and that's Mother's Day sorted Smile

DadDadDad · 04/03/2018 13:07

Is Ben sitting his exams this year?

Yes, don't you remember a few weeks ago, there was Y11 parents' evening that David was summoning just enough energy to drag himself to...
