We never thought we’d feel sorry for Will. Although of course it should have been Pip! Discuss The Archers here (Titled edited by MNHQ)

Welcome all! I was really touched by the potential for Ed and Will to reconcile. But wonder if Will can accept Ed’s support.

As ever, no spoilers here (there’s a thread for that) - discussion permitted as soon as the pm episode is broadcast.

Watch out Oliver.
Poor Oliver, and Phil, and Dr Locke ...

FancyForgetting · 14/03/2018 19:47

I had to laugh at Shula’s many cream cardigans - bet they’re beige really Grin

Jenijena · 14/03/2018 19:48

Kenton coming all brotherly-protector... Alistair Not Getting It even after curry night (which I think we can safely say is the opposite of chilli night..)

Buckingfrolicks · 14/03/2018 19:52

Kenton. Just fab. "Oops"!!

God let's hope Shula cheers up at some point- she's not the only one who felt like her misery couldn't go on

MereDintofPandiculation · 14/03/2018 21:37

No, let's just hope Shula goes to start a new life somewhere "exciting" a long way from Borsetshire. Then we won't need to hear from Dan's girlfriend either.

Actually it goes back to something someone said a page or so back - too much drama. On its own, this SL could have been something big, as it is I found myself think "oh no, not another drama"

MereDintofPandiculation · 14/03/2018 21:38

I also found it very strange Bev explaining to Clarrie that a child needs to be looked after emotionally as well as physically. Clarrie of all people would have known that and would already be dealing with it.

cheminotte · 14/03/2018 21:43

It sounded like Jake and Mia were occasional visitors rather than back there permanently.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 14/03/2018 21:44

Flagging trouble for Poppy I think.

birdsdestiny · 14/03/2018 21:51

I think clarries way of looking after people is through direct actions, cooking, sorting wills suit, it's the way she shows her love. I am not sure she would be as useful around the emotional aspects.

cheminotte · 14/03/2018 21:58

I read somewhere that the a high percentage of children do not continue to live with their fathers by a certain period after the death of their mother.

MrsKwazii · 14/03/2018 22:13

Shula’s favourite cream cardigan has a collar 😬. Her entire character summed up as an item of clothing.

RubyLennoxExists · 14/03/2018 22:20

Do you mean step-fathers Cheminotte, or fathers who were separated from the mothers before death?

C8H10N4O2 · 14/03/2018 22:42

That was exactly my reaction!

Gods I hope Shula buggers off to discover herself in Timbuktoo or somewhere and we never hear from her again. Maybe Alastair could have some wild affair with Mandy Bainbridge or another one of the horsey set (get Jilly Cooper to write the scripts)

ADarkandStormyKnight · 14/03/2018 23:06

I'm sure they are 'ecru' and very tasteful.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 14/03/2018 23:07

I have visions of Shula pursuing Dr Locke around the county....

C8H10N4O2 · 14/03/2018 23:41

In an ecru cardigan. Hmm. Doesn't quite work as well as the tight fitting jacket and riding crop.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 14/03/2018 23:53

She'll tempt him indoors with her defrosted steak and garlic mash....

JessieMcJessie · 14/03/2018 23:56

I did think it odd that Bev referred to Jake and Mia “when they go over there” in ref to Greenwood, when it has been their home for most of their lives, sounded like they are not living there permanently, which must be tough when you have just lost your Mum.

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/03/2018 00:29

Ed and Joe were good. Much as I'm bored with the who ran over Matt story line Ed's explanation is the most sensible thing we've heard in days.

LillianGish · 15/03/2018 07:19

I thought Bev’s intervention and comments hinted at Poppy going to live with Jake and Mia with her. I wasn’t expecting her to be voiced, the fact that she was suggests longer involvement than just popping in for the funeral perhaps with a battle over Poppy (more drama). Re. Shula and Alistair - it has been signalled for ages, but even so I’m surprised she just sprang it on him like that and then walked out - drama on top of drama. Thought to be clear, I find Shula walking out a more realistic drama than the Mat Whodunnit which was far more contrived.

R4 · 15/03/2018 08:13

Have we written off Alistair and Shula then? I remember Phil and Jill had a rocky patch - sleeping in different beds - but they got through it. Lilian, too, in recent times lodged in the The Bull's crisp store honeymoon suite but the relationship survived.
It does seem silly to send Kenton to get her stuff when she will be back there the next day for work anyway.Grin

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2018 08:48

Yes I was complaining about too much 'drama' in TA. Last nights' cleared up the "did Nic. run over Matt?" one but of course we have to have another one so 'Shula walks out on Al".

And just to make sure we all don't get bored, now there's a possible "tug of love" , over Poppy, between Nic's mum, the Grundies and Will. Hmm

Terpsichore · 15/03/2018 08:57

The Bull's crisp store sounds like somewhere Ben would be very interested in once he’s eaten his way through the cereal cupboard Grin

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2018 09:03

Grin Terp

Gruach · 15/03/2018 09:39

Think you’re all being optimistic in imagining that it will be Shula who disappears (at least for more than a few months). Won’t it be Alistair who eventually packs up bags and business and relocates to somewhere not-Ambridge? Not quite sure where that would leave Jim. (Unrelated to any Archer.) He’s entertaining and distinct, presumably an important person in Dan’s life, and connected to Jazzer. (Whatever happened to his joined-at-the-hipness with Christine?) So I hope they’d keep him.

But Shula ...
