Started last night. Link to i player here. Well up to standard, I thought. My daughter and I went to a recording a few weeks ago and some of what we heard (the opening sketch, for example) was in ep 1. More good stuff to come!

Loved it. Howled at the gnu sketch.

allegretto · 05/01/2018 19:26

I liked the biscuit story!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/01/2018 19:28

Thanks for this thread, I'm off to listen now. He's so funny. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/01/2018 20:01

I have a pronunciation app on my phone. I have just looked up 'gnu'. Shock

SinisterBumFacedCat · 05/01/2018 20:25

Thanks, will look this up on the radio player app.

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2018 19:14

Surely you gnu how to say gnu.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/01/2018 19:49

I thought I g-knew how to say g-nu, but it turns out that I thought wrongly. 😄

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/01/2018 19:58

Oh, we bloody love John Finnemore. The kids quote him endlessly. The gnu had me in bits.

Fiderer · 10/01/2018 20:16

My children & I are all Cabin Pressure fans, we often have a Travelling Lemon game on & quote stuff at each other. Flew back here last week & had a "My armrests" back & forth, "Arm-rests is hyphenated".

Have stayed away from other JF stuff because he's Arthur. Should I?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/01/2018 21:26

No, you're missing out, @Fiderer. Double Acts, his two-hander plays, are absolutely excellent. He has had two series of those now. I think there have been six plays in each series and he has acted in one play in each series. In series 2 he acted with Michael Palin, which was great.

The Souvenir Programme doesn't always hit the mark but it hits a great deal more than it misses, which is more than you can say for most radio comedy. Here's his view on The Archers, which even a total addict like me can see is spot on.

He has a great ensemble doing JFSP and a lot of running gags from series to series. Well worth a go!

Gasp0de Thank you - have found them all on Audible.

AlbusPercival · 11/01/2018 05:41

I love John Finnemore.

He's just so bloody clever. Was in stitches last week. An resisting the urge to google gnu

AlbusPercival · 12/01/2018 07:47

I couldn't stop giggling at "my grandfazzer voz dee svedesh shef on the moopets"

BigGreenOlives · 12/01/2018 07:55

JF is wonderful, so clever. He is on Twitter & tweets from time to time.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 12/01/2018 19:26

‘The Moopets made me laugh lots. And the personal assistant ‘well, she is quite distinctive..’

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2018 19:49

We were at the recording for that coming round the mountain sketch, @YoureAllABunchOfBastards! Also the gnu and Freud sketches from last week. Great stuff. Grin

Love John Finnemore. My two boys are Cabin Pressure addicts. I went to see a recording which was brilliant.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2018 19:56

A Cabin Pressure recording, @Cheguevarahamster? Very envious, if so! I applied but was unsuccessful. Sad

Cheguevarahamster · 12/01/2018 20:00

No not a cabin pressure recording. Sorry. I wish!! It was a JFSP recording..

I only discovered Cabin pressure after it had finished.

parrotonmyshoulder · 12/01/2018 20:05

Freud sketch was great.
My favourite ever is the Pachelbel’s canon sketch though!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/01/2018 21:41

Yeah I googled gnu...

allegretto · 14/01/2018 17:30

Gasp0de Thank you - have found them all on Audible.

Thank you Fiderer too! I had never thought about them being on Audible and have just bought the second series of Double Acts that I was dying to relisten to.

sagamartha · 14/01/2018 18:33

Cabin Pressure is on again.

They're going to Timbuktu. And Arthur is being helpful.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/02/2018 16:16

@sagamartha, bliss! I think my favourite is Ipswich, but the standard is so high all the way through.

Anybody else still listening to JFSP? I really enjoyed last night's. The animal designing sketch was genius. Grin
