'Ello pusscat!
I am eagerly anticipating Pip's downfall.

I agree Pip and Josh are annoying but are not as half as nasty as their parents.

Ceto · 25/04/2017 15:44

I'd say they're both definitely nastier than David. Generally I loathe Ruth, but for this one I'm on her side, which I guess makes Pip nastier than Ruth as well.

ppeatfruit · 25/04/2017 15:56

Will can't help being a loathsome manipulative type, that's just him.

How nice Nic puts up with him I don't know.

BTW when is SHE going to be heard turn into a magnificent cricket player to put Will's nose truly out of joint (him and his 1 run).

Vango · 25/04/2017 16:06

On the Will/Ed debate I'm happy to proclaim myself, once again, a firm Will supporter. I could hardly bear to listen in the dark days of George's early years, when the horrible cow Emma married him when she knew she shouldn't and when herself and Ed finally took George away. I don't know how he can bear to see his brother raise his child given the circumstances. I didn't think Will said anything untoward last week. Emma's always moaning that she and Ed can't provide for George in the way that Will can. If that really is her priority then she should put George first and let him have an extra night.

BertrandRussell · 25/04/2017 16:26

Vango- are you being ironic?

Vango · 25/04/2017 16:34

Not even a tiny bit. Will has plenty of characteristics that I can't abide, and I wouldn't be his friend in real life, but I can't think of any redeeming qualities in Emma that wouldn't make me take his side over hers. She's manipulative, materialistic, bitter and two-faced. I don't mind her inclusion as a character because she's well-acted and realistic.

ppeatfruit · 25/04/2017 16:43

Actually thinking about it, Emma and Will quite suited each other , Emma has inherited her mother's ,never satisfied, social climbing characteristics, but maybe Ed was sexier? He definitely isn't the richer of the two.

Minimammoth · 25/04/2017 16:44

Is it my ears or is Lillian beginning to sound like a sheep?

Vango · 25/04/2017 17:03

PS. I don't think material possessions/treats should be Emma's priority btw. I hate that she focuses on that rather than acknowledging how lucky she is now compared to her caravan days. She directs the same meanness of spirit towards the blameless Alice.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 25/04/2017 17:05

@MiniMammoth DS was off sick from school and was listening to the 2pm repeat with me and said 'that woman laughs like a sheep!'

AuldHeathen · 25/04/2017 17:29

Years ago Mrs A had a female lodger. Who was it? Ruth or Hayley?

Vango · 25/04/2017 17:30

Hayley I thought?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/04/2017 17:33

Ruth when she was first in Ambridge. Roy and Hayley lived there later on. My (oft repeated) fantasy TA storyline-that-never-was involved Mrs A, who died a childless widow and without any close family, leaving Nightingale Farm to Roy and Hayley. They could have lived in the upstairs flat and used the ground floor and garden as a day nursery. Hayley is a qualified nursery nurse and Roy has a degree in business studies. We never hear of anyone paying for childcare in Ambridge except Elizabeth when the twins were little and previously Hayley's other employer (photographer on the Borchester Echo). They would have cleaned up. We know there are commuters living in Ambridge. Who looks after their little ones?

Remember too that Pip was supposed to be taking up a job in Brazil but 'changed her mind' at the eleventh hour after David and Ruth had hired Matthew to be her replacement! Didn't we have lots of angst then when discussing how much her change of plan would cost the farm? But of course David and Ruth didn't mind at all.....precious Pip could always be accommodated.

I couldn't understand what happened there? David said "add up all your bills, whatever they are, and round it all up" which Tony managed to convey to Tom as "we'll cover only these specific items (vets, vaccination and labour)". I can see why Tom would be cross but David is prepared to cover all their costs isn't he? Did I miss something?

I love Lynda.
