That was a terrible episode.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 16/04/2017 20:20

They were discussing Pip as if she's a 12 year old who 's fallen in with a bad crowd at secondary school Hmm
And Ruth is annoying me with the silent treatment - which is emotionally immature of her, I think.

Vango · 16/04/2017 20:32

Well I said on Page 1 that they'd end up blaming themselves!

Did we know that Molly and Tilly had a brother called Billy? How many more are there?

KingscoteStaff · 16/04/2017 20:35

Billy Button. Love it.

Vango · 16/04/2017 20:36

I don't think Ruth's giving anyone the silent treatment. I think she's just in shock. She can't believe the precious one might be responsible and she's trying to work out for herself how it happened. She'll soon realise that it's all Jill's fault. Smile

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/04/2017 20:37

I really didn't understand their attitude- the "it'll all blow over and be fine".

That's appropriate for say getting blind drunk at a family do and telling Auntie Shula she's a smug, patronising bore , Cousin Kate is an airhead and actually Granny Jill your cakes are rubbish.

Pipsqueak should have owned up at the first sign of illness in the Brookfield Farm stock so Bridge and Home Farm could have started vaccination sooner/ been on the alert for signs of illness.

Vango · 16/04/2017 20:53

David's behaviour tonight was in keeping with his character I thought. He's generally positive in outlook and there isn't much point staying angry at his daughter for long. What's done is done and it will blow over eventually. In the meantime, I'm sure there'll be plenty of people in the village who will be gunning for her when the truth is out.

I do hope that Ruth finds a way to make Jill partially responsible though! Eg. "If yer mutha hadna talked you out of the move/driven Pip into Toby's arms" etc etc...

AuldHeathen · 16/04/2017 20:54

I'm sure the Buttons have got a Milly, Jilly, Tilly, a Lily, but not a Frilly. They might even have a Willy but only because Mr Buttons was pished when he registered the birth and forgot Billy and Willy are shortened forms of the same name. And if Mrs Buttons had consulted. MN on the names all this confusion could have been prevented.

Now I've no desire to stir up the thread's legal team, but I imagine wot Lasswi said at 20.37 would be the line to take were Bridge Farm and/or Home Farm to sue Brookfield i.e. that earlier notification of the hobnobbing herds would have enabled them to vaccinate earlier? As I would think it hard to state that buying cows that were unvaccinated was somehow negligent? Maybe they'll all end up wishing they'd gone north after all.

Vango · 16/04/2017 20:57

Maybe they'll consult Usha Auld Wink

AuldHeathen · 16/04/2017 20:59

And, Gaspode, thanks for the photo of the cows waiting for the train in Kent. When we heard the news on R4 we were practising our northern sneer, even DH whose mother was Kentish, but it was so much more than just cows on the line. Smile We get a fair few delays up here for cows on the line but I don't think we'e had cows on the platform. Grin

AuldHeathen · 16/04/2017 21:05

Maybe, Vango, but she'd have to state her friendship with Ruth meant she couldn't. But I am sure she'll know someone who can take the case. smile]

IAmNotAUserNumber · 16/04/2017 21:23

And don't forget the 'Ollies Auld
As well as Molly there's Holly and Solly and Dolly, and Olly.
I imagine them as the poor but charmingly happy family in a Enid Blyton meets MillyMollyMandy novel. And say what you like about that family, even the neighbours next door next hear a peep out of them Grin

AuldHeathen · 16/04/2017 21:35

And Polly. Grin

IAmNotAUserNumber · 16/04/2017 21:41

Except we don't talk about Polly. Not since that business with ... oops, I've already said enough Blush

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/04/2017 21:43

The Dopeys must know Pip allowed a breach of farm bio - security.

Disease prevention for livestock and poultry keepers - GOV.UK
www.gov.uk/guidance/disease-prevention-for-livestock-farmers

The action you take on your farm is vital in stopping the introduction and spread of animal diseases in the UK. You must practise good biosecurity measures at all times.

Disease may not always be apparent especially in the early stages and there are many ways disease can be introduced and spread

Farm animal and bird diseases are mainly spread through:

animals moving between and within farms and, in particular, the introduction of new animals
direct or close contact with neighbours’ animals

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/04/2017 21:45

Actually Pipsqueak should have owned up immediately, even before any sign of illness.

echt · 16/04/2017 21:55

The concealment seems to be what's getting to David. I interpret Ruth's silence as some frantic thinking over her own collusion with Pip in not telling David about where the cow profits went. When this particular bit of shit hits the fan it will be interesting.

Talking of shits, isn't Toebee one, blaming Jill when he knows nothing of what went on? Also arse covering and "don't blame me" when Pip followed his initial advice.

Vango · 16/04/2017 22:04

They do know Lass, which is why they're so angry/shocked and why every other farmer is so enraged. The only surprising thing is Ed's total silence on the matter. Toby keeping quiet is to be expected, though other than 'advising' Pip he's pretty blameless. He didn't put them into a field with other cows!

TheAntiBoop · 16/04/2017 22:07

Tobys not a farmer so why the saintly pip isn't being blamed is odd - why blame the one person living on the farm who is totally clueless and therefore makes an even bigger idiot of the person who listened to it

echt · 16/04/2017 22:18

The last time Ed spoke to Pip about the cows, it was still left in her hands to tell, though he was getting miffed about it.

Vango · 16/04/2017 22:24

Pipsqueak should have owned up at the first sign of illness in the Brookfield Farm stock so Bridge and Home Farm could have started vaccination sooner/ been on the alert for signs of illness.

Miffed he may have been, but Ed really should have spoken to David. The longer the silence lasted the more cattle were lost.

redshoeblueshoe · 16/04/2017 22:29

And Pip stayed silent. But now Jill's blaming Toby they all will.

Huge canoe - was doing so well. Now I'm just pissed off Sad
