Happy New Year to you all.

OP posts:
Imbroglio · 04/01/2017 19:31

I reckon Brighton is some kind of business deal, which also involves a woman.

SafariSoGood · 04/01/2017 19:32

Happy New Year!

That was the first time I've listened live for too long.

Apart from Kenton, Pip and Tobes It was excellent!

Poor Jim - anything for a quiet life.
Susan on excellent form!

Now all I want is a big sign up in the shop window with a large picture of Rob with Banned written across in very large letters Grin

Gruach · 04/01/2017 19:39

Cute tweet!

"have you got a 'sorry my great aunt married your husband before you met him and died in a fire' card?" #thearchers

Shallishanti · 04/01/2017 19:57

what did the CA say?

GypsyFl0ss · 04/01/2017 20:03

Grin Gruach

echt · 04/01/2017 20:04

I wonder if Rob is being prepared for some act of violence? He is slowly ( and deservedly) being cut out of life in Ambridge - the house, the shop, restricted contact with the children. He was intimidating by saying he wouldn't move from outside the shop, then abusive of Jim because of age, and tellingly, identifying him as unmanly. Sexist verbal abuse of Susan. Definite signs of a low-key physical struggle when, after all this , Rob still thought he was going to get his shopping done. He's deluded, aggressive and willing to take physical action, think foot in the door with Helen. Got to come to head, surely?

I thought Jim's letting him in went against character, but did enable Jim to appear reasonable and Rob to get worse than ever, his banning being condign punishment.

echt · 04/01/2017 20:05

"A" head. sounds a bit grim otherwise. :o

SingingAvocado · 04/01/2017 20:25

Well done Susan! CA said: 'The beginning of the final disintegration of Mr Titchener perhaps?' and then something about not even being nice to the people on his side …

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/01/2017 20:25

I wonder if Rob is being prepared for some act of violence?

I'm hoping so! I want him to run amok. We could spare Toby and Pip, surely?

Gruach · 04/01/2017 20:34

We haven't mentioned the SPOILERS THREAD on this one yet have we? (For the benefit of any new posters.)

So much fun.

Gruach · 04/01/2017 20:34

That wasn't meant to be all in shouty capitals ...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/01/2017 20:36

Indeed, Gruach, but I must hasten to add that OliviaMN has repeatedly said she will wreak terrible vengeance on anyone who posts a spoiler on this thread. All spoilers have to stay on the other thread and behaviour over there has to be impeccable so she never has to look at it.

KrissyKringlefromCandyCaneLane · 04/01/2017 20:41

I think it's being set up for Lily 'Nigel Mansell' Pargetter to run Knob over in an unfortunate driving lesson accident.

SingingAvocado · 04/01/2017 21:01

I thought the rules were that CA comments were okay they'd been broadcast?

Megatherium · 04/01/2017 21:04

I couldn't really understand why Jim let Rob in. His threat of just standing out there till someone let him in was singularly weak - in Jim's position I would have taken distinct pleasure in locking up, walking away and leaving him standing in the cold. I'd probably shout something over my shoulder about seeing him in the morning.

I wonder how on earth he worked out that hurling insults at Jim was going to persuade him to allow him to stay in the shop - let alone Susan.

With luck the "coming to a head" is being timed to happen when he sees Jack on Sunday. Another meltdown in front of neutral professionals is just what we need.

BroomstickOfLove · 04/01/2017 21:15

I quite like the way that he is being undone by the women of Ambridge using implements of domesticity - Usha taking his home, the Button girls defacing his car with lipstick, Susan refusing to sell him food.

Vango · 04/01/2017 21:18

To be fair to poor Jim (glad he's back from his daughter's), he's dealing with a man who drove a normally even-tempered, sane, grown-up woman, to stab him multiple times. Rob's given up trying to charm anyone and is doling out threats to anyone who crosses him. His behaviour is menacing, to say the least. I'd have been scared of him in the cold and dark and would definitely hesitate before doing anything to rile him further.

Gruach · 04/01/2017 22:49

Grin Of course, SingingAvocado!

Was only that his comment reminded me there was somewhere we could speculate with the benefit of a smidgen more information.

Qwertie · 04/01/2017 23:13

Susan's changed her tune though hasn't she. I don't think we've heard the last of St Shula & the hunt sab; Rob will take her hostage & the seemingly reformed Alistair will come to her rescue & confirm his status as a good guy (or he might shaggy Dorothy, one or the other)

Qwertie · 04/01/2017 23:14

shag not shaggyGrin

ManaFleet · 04/01/2017 23:15

Hello all, happy NY and thanks for the thread. I'm almost new here and so excited to find you all! I'm also almost new to TA, been listening for about three years but still sometimes feel like a clueless virgin.

A couple of questions:
Matt is Lillian's slightly nefarious ex, yes?
Who, exactly, is Jim?

On the subject of the next generation, FleetTheYounger is six months old now and definitely recognises the music!

Qwertie · 04/01/2017 23:18

When you hear "Ello Pusscat" -that's Matt. I was we were going to hear that over Xmas.

I'm new on here too & listening for about 7 years, so very new too ;-)

Shallishanti · 04/01/2017 23:18

Yes, Matt is 'Tiger', Lilian's partner who has disappeared mysteriously and been forgotten about.
Jim is Alistair's father hence Shula's FiL and Ambridge's resident Educated Person.

BertrandRussell · 04/01/2017 23:26

Sorry. I need to be boring again. Any ending for Rob that does not involve a conviction and imprisonmebt for coercive control and rape is an utter betrayal of abused women.

TheAntiBoop · 04/01/2017 23:29

Agree Bertrand. In hoping that all this talk of 'the why haven't I been charged' is a signal that he will be

It would be a bit ee if he had a grisly fate too.

And he has already been stabbed. Are we expecting a scene from one of those horror movies where the baddie suffers various injuries which would be fatal for most but keeps coming back for more?
