Happy New Year to you all.

OP posts:
LowDudgeon · 13/01/2017 20:05

The sofa surfer bit was a feeble attempt to fend Stefan off?

but as he knows Justin is still in the frame that won't wash!

& how could someone who paid someone off once be surprised that they'd come back for more? rookie error, Mr Titchener (or may I call you Rob?)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/01/2017 20:06

I know the characterisation is inconsistent, but frankly I prefer Dr Evil! I hope it's not family annihilation, but as I keep saying I could quite happily live with Rob accidentally or otherwise taking Pip and Toby out in some sort of violent outburst. Or perhaps it will all be like the end of Don Giovanni and a pit will open up in the centre of the green and Rob will disappear with a Nigel-like cry, and Pip and Toby will fall in after him?

LowDudgeon · 13/01/2017 20:08

or Tony Hancock's Bowmen & they'll all fall in?

enochroot · 13/01/2017 20:09

If I were writing this SL I'd have Stefan and Rob meet to exchange the money. Rob attacks him and leaves him for dead.
Stefan is found in a ditch by David who recognises him and he's blue lighted to hospital where Harrison waits by the bedside to get the full story. Eddie comes forward with his bit about the debris Rob told him to keep quiet about. David and Jennifer snap out of their forgetfulness spell.
Rob banged up for attempted murder. Job done.

TheAntiBoop · 13/01/2017 20:09

I should imagine stefan has seen the coverage of the trial and realised knob is no longer the big I am anymore.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 13/01/2017 20:12

I have spent all day trying to find a use for the new word I learnt. Hurrah!!!

It looks like Stefan has -kompromat on Rob

-air punch--

echt · 13/01/2017 20:14

What an exciting episode. Rob must be wondering what third bad thing can happen to him. Agree this might make him go postal.

Lil and Justin's moment of stolen bliss will be followed by colossal payback. Just a thought, has any relationship, begun in adulterous circumstances been shown to prosper in TA?

And Brian. The nauseating cockweasel, one minute all seeing the advantages of the Lillian and Justin affair, then when it's in trouble, worrying how it might screw things up for him.

Cromwell1536 · 13/01/2017 20:14

Ooh, that's a good plotline. They've dug into Middlemarch for that one - Bulstrode being blackmailed by the figure from his past about how he got hold of his fortune. Now, in Middlemarch, Bulstrode didn't intervene when the blackmailer fell ill, and so effectively hastened his demise. I wonder if Rob will go the same route with Stefan...

JessieMcJessie · 13/01/2017 20:14

Not read whole thread and no time yet to do so but just listened to the last two epis backbyo back and had to say - OMG! Lily AND Stefan!!! All hail the interim Editor, it's still Christmas Smile

Never let it be said that our cultural references on this thread are narrow! I'm with you.

Toomuchtea · 13/01/2017 20:33

I don't think Stefan's had a character change - just that he now knows that the ball is in his court because of what has happened to Rob. Before, he had no power. Rob held the power (presumably) of instant dismissal and a poor reference. Who would believe that charming, lovely Rob would lie?

Now because of what's emerged with the trial, and Rob's position as a pariah in the village, the balance of power has shifted in Stefan's direction. That's why he's back.

enochroot · 13/01/2017 20:33

I suddenly have hope again that Charlie is going to come back!

Gruach · 13/01/2017 20:41

It looks like Stefan has -kompromat on Rob

Envy I woke up determined to use that word today Girlwhowears.

Forgot. But impressed!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/01/2017 20:42

Yes please! I'd love to hear Charlie again.

Great spot on the Middlemarch link, Cromwell. I don't think that ending is dramatic enough for TA, though, and antibiotics have put a bit of a dampener on the old 'let's leave a window open and watch the ill person die' storylines (has anyone else seen the early James Mason film The Wicked Lady?).

Interim editor has gone, btw. This was the second week with the new chap in charge.

Imbroglio · 13/01/2017 20:42

So who is in touch with Stefan?

Toomuchtea · 13/01/2017 20:44

I would think he had friends with the former staff of the megadairy who'd stayed in the UK and kept in touch.

Getabloominmoveon · 13/01/2017 20:57

Loving the cultural and political references here (thanks for компромат - very useful term). Hasn't Ed got some kompromat on Rob too?

Really hope that Charlie returns and rids us of saggy Ian.

cheminotte · 13/01/2017 21:01

Echt '- Sid and Jolene?

OK who is going to explain what kompromat means? Don't make me Google it! Compromising information?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/01/2017 21:03

Is it Trump-related? I wonder if anyone in Ambridge will mention the inauguration. I can hardly get it out of my mind. Sad

PuppetInParadize · 13/01/2017 21:08

But where dd all the workers at the megadairy go when it shut? Apart from Moike and of course Rob and Charlie, who else worked there? I suppose Stefan might have contact with the silent ones on FB or twitter - quite apt really.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 13/01/2017 21:14

Exactamundo @cheminotte . One has to take a tiny bit of humour from the destruction of modern society optimistic

Also does anyone remember Brine going to see a solicitor about his will a year or so back and talking about his will. The general gist being that Ruarinis his only son and could end up getting the lions share. All this land stuff is a precursor to a massive bombshell some time the future. Tick tock

echt · 13/01/2017 21:16

Echt '- Sid and Jolene?

I remember the shower scene. :o

But wasn't he killed by rampaging sheep? There you go. The wages of sin is death.

EBearhug · 13/01/2017 21:24

No, echt, no. I refuse to remember the shower scene, and I shall be sending the bills for the recovery therapy to you.

cheminotte · 13/01/2017 21:35

Rampaging sheep? No he died of a heart attack in New Zealand after several happy years with Jolene.

TheAntiBoop · 13/01/2017 21:37

Maybe the heart attack was brought on by being terrified of rampaging sheep

If only those rampaging sheep had come across Ruth last Christmas
