Yes Vango I'd like a Pip poisoning. I don't understand Pip seemed really pleased about the gin, she must know its illegal to make it and sell it.
Confused

redshoeblueshoe · 17/11/2016 19:48

Oi Trumpette
How about Lady Olivia of Ambridge Archers

mummytime · 17/11/2016 20:03

Pip did say "isn't it illegal" but then listened when Toby said he only needed a license if he was trying to sell it. She obviously had a far more sheltered time than I did at Uni.

Psuedo - maybe you should forward that to the sw's.

I think Kenton is going to be the one to have a bad experience....

Maquiladora · 17/11/2016 23:57

God I hate Pip's voice. I was so disappointed when her farm talk was well received.

And Adam is such a cracking bore. I can't believe Ian turned down a bistro in Edinburgh for Adam.

"If you distinctly alter the character or flavour of a spirit with another substance, other than water, but don’t use a still to do so, you need a compounder’s licence. This doesn’t include mixed drinks solely for consumption on the premises, for example, cocktails. "

Eeek. So all those Christmas presents of sloe gin or flavoured vodka need a licence?

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2016 08:17

officer sorry to spell it out but AMBRIDGE DOES NOT EXIST, LET ALONE HAVE IT'S OWN MICRO CLIMATE Grin unless you count the over, or under, heated BBC office in which it's recorded. Grin

I would have thought it would only count if you sold it.

redshoeblueshoe · 18/11/2016 08:34

ppeat - wash your mouth out - of course Ambridge exists.

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2016 08:48

Yup !! redshoe I'm getting the mouthwash ready

WouldHave · 18/11/2016 09:11

Didn't we just know that superfarmer Pip would, yet again, put on a universally praised stellar performance at that oh-so-difficult session with the farmers? Mind you, given that they'd apparently all had their voice boxes amputated, clearly her worry about difficult questions was unfounded.

officerhinrika · 18/11/2016 14:05

ppeatfruit Blushare you sure?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/11/2016 16:31

ppeat is clearly having some kind of mental crisis, otherwise she would not spout such obvious and distressing nonsense.

BBC profile of Carolyn Jones who plays Ursula here. Be warned, there is a large picture of her on the page. Couple of factoids I didn't know before:

  1. Her ex-husband Jeremy Mason played Rogers Travers-Macy, Jennifer's first husband.
  1. This is proof that nepotism is no new phenomenon because Jeremy Mason's father was one of the two original writers (Edward J. Mason). He and Geoffrey Webb created and wrote Dick Barton Special Agent and when that was cancelled and replaced by The Archers they just switched over to the new programme! Changed times.

She and Jeremy Mason were both in Crossroads for years. I can't say I recall her from that era but I came across this while googling. She was in far better shape at 40 than I was!

WouldHave · 18/11/2016 16:55

Hmm, not sure if I would agree with all her interpretations of Ursula's character. I think it's highly doubtful that she ever genuinely loved Henry.

When she talks about some people calling her Cursula, I wonder whether she and the Beeb are aware of the more common name used for her and are just tactfully censoring it out?

Weird - Henry her only grandson ? What about Jack ? Ursula was cruel to Henry.
I some times think actors should just act.
I bet Pip thinks Pip is wonderful !

Fink · 18/11/2016 17:37

redshoe I think that when she refers to Ursula's 'only grandson' she means Jack rather than Henry, although the editing doesn't really make that clear as she was talking about Henry just before.

There's nothing worse than an actor thinking they have something to add on a subject purely because they acted a role once. Acting is not the same as being.

Liked that episode. But I think Elizabeth is reading too much into Shula's confession of her crush on Richard the other day. Shame, because I'd like Elizabeth to have a relationship with an available man and she seems to get on well with Richard's daughter. Maybe we'll have to endure lots of crossed wires before they finally get together.
