No way Helen would be spoon-feeding mush to Jack, only the real lower orders do that. Have any of the script writers been anywhere near a new mum in the last few years?

Minimammoth · 30/11/2016 19:42

Surely she'd be trying out the possibilities of organic baby food in support of Tom.< not caught up>

LillianGish · 30/11/2016 20:29

I actually fell asleep during the Kirsty and Tom scene - listening on the sofa and just nodded off (long day!) Can you imagine if you actually knew someone who had been jilted at the altar in front of all their friends? Would you put them in a play together as the love interest?

DoctorTwo · 30/11/2016 21:01

I agree TAB, it was Lynda at her worst.

I hope Eddie doesn't get in trouble for harbouring an illicit still - though as I understand it, its the use rather than the possession which is illegal. But he might be tempted to try his hand at apple brandy.

TheAntiBoop · 30/11/2016 22:09

I should imagine he will let Toby use the still. And that is how they end up being evicted and we get yet another 'where will we live' sl from the grundies. Which is getting dull.

PuppetInParadize · 30/11/2016 22:31

FrancisC, i think Ian and LanguidAdam would be very happy in Leith. Smile Toebee and Pip wouldn't be as there's no farm work these days in Leith. Leith Hospital was my first placement as a student nurse . No idea what LH is now - probably bijou flats for the rich. And a needle exchange!

So it is! I'm sure I've been in it too, in a previous life. I need to listen to tonight's episode. So unbothered am I about spoilers, I read this thread before listening. Sometimes anyway. Smile

VictoriaMcdade · 30/11/2016 22:54

Where is the Illicit Still? I recognise the name, and think that I may have been drunk in there, but can't remember where it is.

PuppetInParadize · 30/11/2016 23:06

Tollcross - Brougham St. I don't think I have been in it. I had to google and I don't think I've ever been in a pub in Brougham St. Real Foods, yes. Pub, no.Smile I'd ask DH but he's fallen asleep.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/11/2016 23:39

FrancisCrawford never mind the soup where did the cowboy come from?

EBearhug · 01/12/2016 00:31

shouldn't Ruth have remembered the fire at Brookfield and Grac's death?

Should she? It was well before Ruth's time, and even before Jill's Ambridge time, I think. It's only Peggy, Carol and Christine who'd really remember, and they're hardly going to have chats reminiscing about how wonderful Grace was when they're close to Jill, and often with Jill.

And although I understand Jill may also have felt she was always in Grace's shadow and having to live up to her, it's mostly something in her head - it's not like we've heard her going, "well, I couldn't live up to Grace, of course," at every family gathering (in stark contrast to her banging on endlessly about Toby,) even if she sometimes felt ithat.

I also suspect that unlike those of us outside Borsetshire, who can receive BBC Radio 4, Ruth won't ever have heard, "I must save Midnight," "Grace! Grace! " every few years - so while she's probably aware Phil's first wife died in a terrible accident, and she probably knows about Robin and Elizabeth, it's just past history to Ruth, and I don't think any of it will be top of her thoughts.

Time for me to delurk again...
There's a Real Foods on Broughton Street near York Place and another one on Brougham Street by Tollcross. Confusing but true! I cycle past every day.

elpth · 01/12/2016 07:17

I've not been in the Illicit Still either but now will think of TA every time I pass! Cloisters on Brougham St is an excellent pub though and I have been there many a time.

the reason Graces death wasn't mentioned in Brookfield memories is because she never lived there and the fire wasn't there either.

Yes, I get that, but I'm sure she'd have been mentioned once or twice in the past in conversation, "how did you and Gran meet back in the old days?" type of thing, so Brookfield residents might be aware of her existence, but not really any more. But she is a small part of Jill's anti-Fairbrother feelings, even if Robin is the main reason.

TheAntiBoop · 01/12/2016 08:07

No one living at Brookfield knew grace except for Phil. Bit odd to spend time reminiscing about her.

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2016 08:38

So Keira threw up over Susan's 'borrowed' dress and the stains won't come out, she'll have to pay for it Grin. Funny because the photos weren't even taken and she doesn't like it's colour now Grin

So Tom is finding the company of young Johnny annoying him now esp. that Freddie is a best mate and seems to like pizza a lot! Tom and Kirstie didn't HAVE to take those roles in the panto they ?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/12/2016 08:45

Tom and Kirstie didn't HAVE to take those roles in the panto they ?

Would you dare tell Lynda you were dropping out at this stage?Grin
But I really dont think lynda would have written a scene like that for them. While sometimes she has tunnel vision looking only at her goal, she is usually capable of emotional intelligence.

EBearhug · 01/12/2016 08:53

Originally it was going to be Kirsty and Roy, wasn't it? So it

EBearhug · 01/12/2016 08:55

So it's not like we can blame it all on Linda's script. Though we can blame the scriptwriters.
