Sorry for the poor title - the end of the last thread has arrived sooner than I thought and I haven't had the benefit of hearing all of the last 2 nights....

I just chuck it in the pan. There's usually some left over.

DoctorTwo · 19/10/2016 20:45

Lillian, it was me that thought Bartleby was a ferret. Though if he was a pony sized ferret he'd be no use putting down rabbit holes. :o

AnnieNoMouse · 19/10/2016 20:48

Bartleby is on the mend - Joe says he is now in a stable condition Grin

LowDudgeon · 19/10/2016 21:25

I like to think that if I can wait for 25 years little Jack will have grown up into the second most evil person in Ambridge. It's worth staying healthy for

Definitely worth staying healthy for but I'll be 90 in 25 years - it's a challenge Shock

CeciledeVolanges · 19/10/2016 22:03

Toomuch* another Jill fan here! He isn't called Black Boy in some of the newer editions, but I do recall him being described as piebald in the first book. I also remember her jumping a metre in her first jumping lesson, so Black Boy must have been pretty good. But yes, excellent books. I think Rapide is a good name (although Plum from "Jill and the Perfect Pony less so) and how about Psyche on the pony trek whom they all end up calling "Fish"?

AnnieNoMouse · 19/10/2016 22:08

I think Henry will turn out to be the difficult one, Jack might have Rob's genes but not his parenting (hopefully)

ZuleikaDobson · 19/10/2016 22:21

Did anyone hear the 15 minute drama that was on after Front Row today? It had some definite Archer-esque themes, and when I was listening it I could have sworn that Lynda actress was in it - but no mention of her in the cast. I think it must have been a good imitation by Rebecca Front.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/10/2016 23:03

BOOP for Lillian - but yes, she should be having words with Justin.

So what hilarious thing is going to happen when Roy borrows Holly as a stunt babe magnet? Not that he's really ready for romance - the way he said 'Luke's got a dog' it wasn't the canine ownership he was jealous of.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/10/2016 23:04

Oh, and of course hurrah for the demise of the mauve frock!

Shallishanti · 19/10/2016 23:11

I just read on another thread that turmeric is good for arthritis- Joe could give that to Bartleby

ColdTeaAgain · 19/10/2016 23:17

Lillian will sort Justin out. All in good time Grin

They should make a scarecrow out of the mauve frock and Lill and Kirsty take it to BHC in the middle of the night and shove it in the front garden. Maybe surrounded by tins of custard for good measure.

Yep still think Kirsty is pregnant, either that or starting to get broody. How long ago was it now with Tom? Must be well over a month by now.

Poor Roy, he's going to end up looking a right tit isn't he?

Yes, Zuleika! I caught a bit of it - didn't the pretend reporter say something about other characters sounding like people from The Archers? But yes the crafty lady instantly made me think of Lynda. I might try & download that now you've reminded me Grin

Gherkinsmummy · 20/10/2016 07:06

Another Jill fan. Doesn't Jill herself think Rapide is an awful name? She doesn't like him at all when she first gets him. I loved the books until pony jobs where Ruby Ferguson essentially tells Jill to grow up and stop messing about with ponies. Which is weird as there are plenty of people in the books who make a living from horses.

There was an interesting programme on R4 recently about the history of pony books, presented by Meg Rosoff.

selsigfach · 20/10/2016 07:53

francis - how about 'Fairbaby'?

BertrandRussell · 20/10/2016 07:54

Back to pony books for a moment- the pony I have for sale (did I mention I have a pony for sale?) is called Banner...................

HumphreyCobblers · 20/10/2016 08:30

This has always bothered me enormously. Captain Cholly-Sawcut OFFERED JILL A JOB!!! I could never understand why this was forgotten about when she left school.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2016 09:26

Oh Bert I just mentioned Banner to DH and he said we could always bring over the channel trotting behind the car Grin Grin

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2016 09:27

'him' it is a male yes, gelded? Thing is they need company don't they? We'd have to get a donkey too Grin

ZuleikaDobson · 20/10/2016 09:41

Why do we assume that every sexually active woman on TA is upduffed? Surely they're not all too dim to understand contraception?

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2016 10:03

It's the curse (or not Grin ) of the soaps Zuleika . Only in soaps are there so many failed contraception babies Grin

I remember a nurse saying to me that babies are often born clutching the coil though!

mummytime · 20/10/2016 10:13

Ummm one of my on going messages to my kids is that an awful lot of their friends are the result on contraception failure. One Mum had 3 with different forms of contraception for each one, another was a midwife and very embarrassed.
But it's convenient for writers, just like the "convenient" miscarriages at the start of the 20th century.

CeciledeVolanges · 20/10/2016 10:23

Maybe she remembered and went back to get the job (and get her hunter) after she left? I remember writing Ruby Ferguson a letter asking if she would write more books, but I was very young at the time and my parents may not have posted it... [checks Wikipedia] because she had been dead for about forty years.

CeciledeVolanges · 20/10/2016 10:24

They also took out references to cigarette smoking as well as changing Black Boy's name!

SingingAvocado · 20/10/2016 10:26

You are making me fret about the reliability of my coil ppeatfruit!
