Sorry for the poor title - the end of the last thread has arrived sooner than I thought and I haven't had the benefit of hearing all of the last 2 nights....

I don't believe he's a harder grafter than Will, or Emma, or Fallon, or Tom, or maybe even Pip or Adam! Ed serves as a useful reminder that 'comparison is the thief of joy'!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2016 13:56

The ambridge health fairy obviously has a lesser- known sister, the ambridge rehab fairy.

If either chris or alice are destined to stray, my money would be on an aldridge over a carter any day.

TheAntiBoop · 17/10/2016 13:58

Yes! Although Emma is a Carter?

Given he's gone mute - I just wonder what they are up to

Vango · 17/10/2016 14:04

I'm going to guess that Chris re-appears when Shula takes up her new post with the hunt. Lots of chat about shoes.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2016 14:09

Emma with Will and Ed wasn't like an Aldridge fling though. She got the wrong brother, but went through with marriage because she's fundamentally not someone who has affairs.

TheAntiBoop · 17/10/2016 14:11

Sorry but that doesn't cut it for me with Emma!! The number of people who had affairs because the power of love was just too strong....

Why is alice being so drippy?

Vango · 17/10/2016 14:24

Errol!! She slept with Ed on her Hen night! Then did what she did to Will! I can't get my head around your post Confused.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2016 14:29

Rob does know that Ed is married to Emma, right? Surely not even he would think Ed would want to drunk with him? Or was he so drunk that he has completely forgotten the whole incident?

And surely he would be barred?

TheAntiBoop · 17/10/2016 14:32

He probably feels sorry for Ed as his little woman is so out of control. Probably doesn't see why ed would see fault on robs side

As for being barred - isn't being ignored even worse!!

Vango · 17/10/2016 14:34

I've just listened to last night's episode and my eyebrows are raised slightly that Ed didn't even mention the incident to Rob. Even if Ed doesn't want to antagonise him, a "please don't ever speak to my wife like that again" wouldn't have gone amiss. Astonishing.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/10/2016 14:42

Ed and Alice are in laws. I'd forgotten because it's so long since we've heard Chris. Sad

Emma and Chris are the offspring of Neil and Susan, so all Carters (of course, Susan was a Horrobin).

Emma is Ed's wife. Chris is Alice's husband. So, Ed and Alice are more or less brother and sister-in-law, aren't they?

Not that that need stop them having an affair, as the Relationships board here makes clear from time to time. I don't think they will, though. Hope not, anyway.

TheAntiBoop · 17/10/2016 14:45

They would make a very odd couple at this point in their lives

Maybe will make a move on ed and it will cause him to become all angsty and then Emma will find out and all hell will break loose. Just as a nod to soc and ee

Butteredpars1ps · 17/10/2016 15:59

They can't ban knob from the bull. We'd never get to hear him still being Rob.

Real life got in the way, but i meant to post days ago that he was up and about (& eating and drinking) very quickly after his stoma reversal. It would have been more in character for him to have milked it some more.

TheAntiBoop · 17/10/2016 16:43

Has he had it already! I didn't realise as he doesn't seem to have missed a beat

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2016 16:47

yes - I was surprised he was back so soon.

cheminotte · 17/10/2016 17:20

Rob should definitely get to change the baby's nappy next time. I almost expected him to say - "I can change a nappy myself, you know!"

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2016 17:30

Bertrand and Vango It's, of course possible, that Emm didn't tell Ed. because she knew he might overreact and bash knob's head in.

LillianGish · 17/10/2016 17:41

I agree butteredparsnips - Knob has to go into the shop and the pub so we can hear him being Knobbish otherwise there's no ammunition for the new custardy hearing. It is wholly unrealistic though - esp the conversation with Ed.

Ref. Nappy changing and knob. cheminotte he freaked when asked to by Tony originally and said his mother would do it. I don't reckon he would 've changed (geddit Grin ) his ways that quickly!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2016 17:53

Perhaps the next phase of Ambridge life will be characterised by situations which in a SOC soap would lead to infidelity or marital breakdown instead feature people behaving nicely - sib-in-laws behaving like helpful family, couples having a rough spot working through it supportively?

Beeziekn33ze · 17/10/2016 18:17

Alice sounded like sister Kate when making her 'date' with Ed. Soppy and would-be seductive I mean, run, Ed, run!

Beeziekn33ze · 17/10/2016 18:23

Vango, long ago I remember a girlie conversation (Emma and Fallon??) about Ed in a tight white tee shirt so maybe he's supposed to be the village hunk.

Vango · 17/10/2016 18:42

ppeatfruit I'd be very surprised if Jazzer hadn't mentioned it though.

NotAMammy · 17/10/2016 18:50

This is a stupid question, but is Archers just like a normal soap where you can join in at any time and after a few weeks you're pretty much caught up?

I think I might start listening, but do I just download the latest omnibus to get going?
