Sorry for the poor title - the end of the last thread has arrived sooner than I thought and I haven't had the benefit of hearing all of the last 2 nights....

No, I think he'd go for non-iron nowadays hence the villa top rather than cotton polo or rugby.

R4 · 10/10/2016 18:10

That was the first I've heard of Roy being a Villa fan! You'd have thought there would've been a mention when they were relegated in April / May

Roy's not such a die-hard Villain that he would shell out for replica kit ... but someone left the top (two sizes too big) behind when they vacated a room.Grin

I was perusing the gentleman's clothing section at Tesco and saw these..... mid blue sandblasted boot it and thought they're Roy jeans.

Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but I've just heard the most uncanny impression of a Rob laugh here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37607599

If anyone wants to have a quick listen to the first minute and tell me whether I'm right or wrong, I would appreciate it!

Sorry, as you were.

  1. laughing at own jokes? tick
  2. breathy noises? tick
  3. faux humility and self-depreciation? tick
  4. standing up for '"that's what chaps do"? tick

Peas in a pod.

Poor Jill. Carol was bang out of order.

TheAntiBoop · 10/10/2016 22:28

Carol would get right on my nerves. She's so bloody convinced of her own opinion being the right one and is ultimately the type of bully who comes out with the line' just say it how I see it'. I wish Jill had stormed out after shouting 'no carol, it's nothing to do with grace or their dickwad father, I just think Toby is a cunt'

She would have felt so much better about it all

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2016 22:37

She was only saying what a lot of people on here have though!Grin

TheAntiBoop · 10/10/2016 22:42

No one on here has said it in such a superior and patronising way. In my head at least!!

LowDudgeon · 10/10/2016 22:43

I just think Toby is a cunt

anybody saying that on TA would be swoon-inducing.

if JILL ARCHER said it R4 would have to be shut down

TheAntiBoop · 10/10/2016 22:45

It would be so worth it though

LowDudgeon · 10/10/2016 22:46

yes, yes it would

we can live in hope

CeciledeVolanges · 10/10/2016 23:07

Petition time everyone!

selsigfach · 10/10/2016 23:09

Tbf Jill was wittering on for ages about not wanting Fairbros around on account of their father's shenanigans. I think her attitude now is that she was right about Toby all along, he's a waste of space just like his father. She likes Rex though, doesn't she? They've fad a few chats and he's done favours for her, I think, or she's seen how he's helped Bert at any rate. It's perfectly rational for her not to like Toby on account of him being a good for nothing, serial shagger. Carol was a cow bag though.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2016 23:12

Perhaps john finnemore could redo the scene more convincingly?

Imbroglio · 10/10/2016 23:18

Jill is 100% in the right. It was HER birthday. Its like when you are old you should be grateful that anyone notices and should accept whatever torment they send your way.

TheAntiBoop · 10/10/2016 23:22

Jill 'it's my birthday and I'll say cunt if I want to' archer

(I should caveat that it is not a swear word I use or like, hence why I chose it for Jill as it is sooooo unlikely)

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/10/2016 00:45

The Jill actress would probably be up for it

R4 · 11/10/2016 08:11

What's the petition Cecile? Are you proposing Rob for leadership of UKIP?

mummytime · 11/10/2016 09:16

I want to propose a big BOOP forTom and Johnny.
First we have Tom complaining to Kirsty or Roy about how much body spray Johnny was spraying around.
Then we get Johnny complaining about Tom's feet, and saying how he had to spray body spray as they had no air freshener.

It was a subtle aside worthy of the late Terry Pratchett.
I can forgive a lot of nonsense for a bit of subtle writing like that.

AvengingGerbil · 11/10/2016 09:25

I've been very confused this morning. Apparently Donald Trump has been addressing a crowd in Ambridge. Obviously Rob would have been in his corner, but who else? Or did he bus in the dregs of Borchester?

JasperDamerel · 11/10/2016 10:00

I think Susan might be swayed.

If Ambridge was in the US, the Carters and the older Grundys would be Trump supporters, but Clarrie (Clary? I need to read more and listen less) would secretly vote for Hilary. Oliver, Caroline, Shula and the Aldridges (apart from Kate and Phoebe) would be reluctant voters because they couldn't bring themselves to vote Democrat, and would be deciding whether to hold their noses and vote Trump or whether not to vote at all. Pat wouldn't vote because she'd be so cross that Bernie hadn't got in, but the rest of the Bridge Farm lot would vote for Hilary, as would Lynda, Carol and Jim. Jazzer would wind up Pat by wearing a Trump campaign badge, and would probably vote for him if he could be arsed because he's think he was funny, but might rethink in the light of the whole Rob business.

The Brookfield lot would base their votes entirely on agricultural policy.

Rex would vote Clinton. Toby would vote Trump.

ppeatfruit · 11/10/2016 10:22

What I still don't get, ref. the hunt sab. is why he didn't make a complaint about knob at the time.

Ref. Susan and the health kick she's supposed to be on, it takes much longer than a weekend to detox if you've been living on pork pies etc. forever. Silly woman expected quick results. Hmm

Do we know if Jill does know Toby's history with women? I'm with team Carol, Jill should get over the distant past.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2016 10:30

The sab did make a complaint iirc, it just didn't get very far because Shula lied to Harrison.

As for Susan's detox, she was just going through the motions.
